      Braided cables get scraped over time and collect dust, a regular plastic cable holds up better.

    • @Root174
      @Root174 3 роки тому +2

      @@Lurreable A normal cable can curl up over time and if it does, eventually get damaged from said curling - something a braided cable prevents. A good braided cable will not get easily scraped either. The one on my G502 that I've used for almost 5 years only has a little bit of damage. Which I can barely see anyway. Lastly, your dust argument doesn't make sense as dust will collect on any type of cable, even a regular one.

      Gonna have to challenge you on this one. They might be Cherry branded and have a nice red color, they are NOT designed to feel like standard profile Cherry Red mechanical switches. Other than the color, there's very little parallel between the Low Profile Red / Rapidfire switches and their non-LP siblings when it comes to overall feel.

    I've waited 7 months for this keyboard since last summer. I've been extremely excited and ready to buy this thing. After watching this, I'm actually pretty hesitant. I'm so accustomed to laptop keyboards and I game often, so I feel like it'd be a good purchase, but the lack of a mute button as well as the lack of feet on the bottom of the keyboard are major drawbacks for me.

    • @CoolerMasterGaming
      @CoolerMasterGaming 5 років тому +9

      We didn't include feet to save on cost and because the angle we have it at is actually perfect for keeping your wrists straight over the board. We hoped that some basic ergonomics would be more useful. As for the mute button, we actually hadn't included that on most of our keyboards, except for the MK750 which had dedicated media keys, and we had never heard any feedback about it until this video. We're working on finding a way to add that functionality.

      @@CoolerMasterGaming yo, CM Gaming, indeed, I presumed the lack if adjustable feet would be a drawback, instead the keyboard is perfect and solved the aching fingers I had from a normal size one. All I can say is that I would have accepted a higher price for a USB passthrough. Another thing for the future, maybe raise the 3 LOCK indicators a bit, the tenkey buttons are obstructing the view if you are laid back.

      Keyboard incline is anti-ergonomic and has no benefits whatsoever anyway. The only reason to really incline your keyboard forward is if you have to see the legends because you can't touch type, in which case, git gud.

    $140 price point demands independent media/volume keys as mandatory. As for the missing clips to angle the keyboard, those clips are actually bad from an ergonomic stand point. That is, angled keyboards actually place more strain on wrists and the clips are actually in place for non-touchtypers to help see the keys better. If you are a touchtyper who rarely or never looks at the keyboard it is best to lay the keyboard flat. Most people don't realize this, but quick research will show its validity.

    • @CoolerMasterGaming
      @CoolerMasterGaming 5 років тому

      Thanks for your feedback. That's exactly why we have the angle of the SK630 set where we do. As for the price point, your opinion is fair, though a low profile keyboard costs significantly more to produce than the same keyboard with standard switches. It would have led to extra cost that we would have had to pass on to consumers.

    An epilepsy warning should have been in place for 6:05-6:14.
    For those with photosensitive epilepsy, skip this section. Head to 6:14. The skipped section demonstrates the speed at which the RGB effects can go, which is very high. For the missed audio due to the time skip, the current sentence at 6:14 is "The media playback buttons are integrated right above the arrow keys but, oddly enough, I think Cooler Master forgot to include a mute button."

    No brightness adjustment isn't really accurate. When you adjust the color in the software, you can adjust the saturation on the horizontal axis, and the brightness on the vertical axis. You just can adjust the brightness via keystrokes, but the adjustment in software takes a few seconds, so it's no problem, and not really a legitimate complaint, I think. (I have a CM Masterkeys Pro mechanical keyboard, and it works the same way.)

I want confirmation from the manufacture/seller that it is OS ambiguous (not that all the software will run on macOS, only that the keyboard will keyboard). I don't think that's a very long list. This is sooooo close to perfect, but no tactile or clickey key options, just linear.

    How did you mess this one up so bad? Some of your criticism is founded but here's what you missed:
    - It's not a "low profile keyboard" it's a "keyboard with low profile keycaps and shorter mx reds". Newegg even says "Cooler Master SK650 Mechanical Keyboard with Cherry MX Low Profile Switches in Brushed Aluminum Design"
    - Actuation = resistance. Why would you want to feel resistance in a speedy switch?
    - Why does it need feet? You should have noted that it's a triangular shape which raises the keys up so it doesn't need feet. Feet would have made it a vertical keyboard. CM decided to take away the option of flat lying because no one types flat and feet are prone to breaking off
    - A detachable, braided, usb c cord isn't good enough? Really?
    - usb c is a Standard. CM decided not to implement a pass through because they didn't want to.
    - This one is only partly your fault: there is a secondary mute button but CM didn't ship a backspace key that shows it. I was able to get one from them along with a "light mute" esc key. Kudos to CM for doing this. Check with the manufacturer before declaring "such a big oversight".
    - A wrist rest would be nice but then it's not as portable and not everyone includes wrist rests on their higher tier keyboards (logitech, Anne pro, Das keyboard, ducky, most razers, etc)

    It looks nice and it seems like a good keyboard. Three things make it a dealbreaker for me though. 1. No dedicated media keys. Call me weird, but I like mine and use them all the time, especially in games when I have music in the background. 2. No height adjustment. This one is just... what? 3. Flat keys. Once I tried concave keys, I haven't been able to use anything else.

    • @CoolerMasterGaming
      @CoolerMasterGaming 5 років тому

      Hello Sabro, thanks for the feedback! We didn't include feet to not only save on cost but because the angle we have it at is actually perfect for keeping your wrists straight over the board. We hoped that some basic ergonomics would be useful. As for dedicated multimedia keys, most of our boards don't have them except for MK750. We're known for minimalistic boards without any button-clutter so this is something we try to deliver for our fans. The keys actually DO have a slight concave. Honestly, takes about a week to get used to it, but once you get used to it, you dont make anymore typos - message written using SK621!

      @@CoolerMasterGaming Appreciate you taking the time to answer.
      I do believe you in regards to the angle of the keyboard. It does have "wedge" shape to it, but like he mentions in the video, i do prefer having more of an angle when i type. Otherwise, it feels like i have to bend my hands a bit down at the wrist. I'd like to test it, but it's still quite a lot to pay to test something when you're a student.
      I understand about the media keys, and with a lot of other boards, the media keys aren't well integrated. I have had some keyboards in the past, however, where the media keys were shaped like regular keys, and so didn't really stand out (only on full sized keyboards though, don't know if it's even possible on a TKL board). I've tried using the same type of media keys as you have and it just doesn't feel as smooth as dedicated ones. But like you mentioned, it's a design choice.
      Really? On the video, especially in the intro b roll footage, it looks like they're completely flat. Again, i can see it's a design choice, but it makes it so much easier to type fast and without looking when they are concave.

    • @WLVFX
      @WLVFX 5 років тому

      They are ideal for using it with tablets, especially tablets that you can be drawn on. Digital keyboards are just horrible to use, if you are typing an email with your tablet, and laptops don't have screens that are good enough to directly draw on professionally. Having a wireless TKL keyboard makes it easier to carry around with a tablet, and a better quality keyboard than the standard wireless cheap keyboards. A tablet able to create professional graphics work, and a quality keyboard giving a better typing experience than a laptop combination.

    honest review of the sk630 keyboard, white edition cherry mx red. It is the most dry feeling I've ever felt in a keyboard. I didn't find using the keyboard satisfying at all. The closest I can describe is a chalky feeling and creeking when you press the keys. and sadly for a keyboard designed like this, typing is harder as well. I tried to get used to it but couldn't at the end. You always end up pressing other keys accidentally. Another thing that doesn't help is the stiffness of the keys . If you lubed the keys to smooth out the keystrokes, and if you had lower profile key caps (since let's be honest, this isn't a true low profile keyboard, you can basically take a normal sized keycaps and stick them on this and it would work just as well) that had more defined dent in them to hug your fingers more, this would have been a much more pleasant experience.

    I think a better alternative would be the hexgears x1, which actually is low profile mechanical, has rgb, Bluetooth, plus it is the size of a tkl but also includes the number pad. What do you mean with it not being a big deal that you dont have USB passthrough? USB type c (3.1) can handle a huge ammount of data. Eliminating it due to wanting to use a thinner cable is BS. You dont loose very much using a proper sized cable.
    I get that they didnt include it, i dont like it, but the cable being the reason i dont buy what so ever.
