    Its amazing how the best videos never get any views but the worst get so many. The UA-cam algorithm is definitely broken. This video was great. Thank you so much.

    A few mods to for Minecraft (1.12.2) for this machine:
    -Install OptiFine for a drastic performance increase
    -Install VanillaFix for further FPS increase
    -Install FoamFix for better RAM usage
    -Install FastFurnace and FastWorkbench
    -Install Clumps
    -Install Let Me Despawn
    -Install BetterFPS
    -Install AI Improvements
    I'm sure you'd probably easily get 40-50fps on medium settings

    I have the same iMac 2007 aluminum computer. I use Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard with Front Row to watch DVD movies. The only thing that doesn’t work well is web browsing. Safari is outdated.

      Indeed. I have used OpenCore before on a 2011 machine. It's a great tool to breathe new life into an old Intel Mac

    I have iMac 2007 as well, with El Capitan, but now even Chrome is discontinued (no more updates) and any 3rd-party web browser is getting obsolete... so surfing the 'net is getting harder and harder, esp UA-cam... Alas...

    • @bull_technology
      @bull_technology  2 роки тому +1

      It is getting there in obsolescence. Linux and Windows will be the next step in modernizing these machines sadly.

    I'd like to buy one just to use it to watch movies and play ancient games from the late 90s and early 2000s. But I'll run windows 10 on mine

    • @bull_technology
      @bull_technology  2 роки тому +2

      It's definitely a good machine for running Windows on. With bootcamp, windows can be installed easily, and it adds some functionality (as Apple is no longer supporting the 2007 units with MacOS support.
      They're cheap, and it's a great all in one package.

    Halllow Bull Tech,, can you show me how to entering recovery mode for imac A1224 and how to make flashdrive installer

    • @bull_technology
      @bull_technology  5 місяців тому

      Well to get into recovery you need to hold down the 'option' key when booting the device up. This will activate the boot selection mode wherein you can boot to a USB flashdrive.
      There are plenty of tools like DiskMaker X that will create a bootable MacOS flashdrive easily.

    You don't need suction cups - make a handle with some gorilla tape, stick it to screen and pull - works a treat ;-)

    • @bull_technology
      @bull_technology  11 місяців тому +1

      Indeed! I used the tape method to remove the glass from my 2011 iMac several years ago

    I have exactly this Imac with el capitan. Is it possible to upgrade it to a newer version or is el capitan the max? Also what kind of ssd do you recommend for it to run faster?

    • @bull_technology
      @bull_technology  3 місяці тому

      Mac OS X El Capitan is the last supported version of MacOS for this iMac, but it is possible to unofficially run newer versions (though your milage may vary).
      Any SSD will suffice. Speed won't be an issue because the older SATA throughput is less than almost any SSD read/write speed.

    Tengo un MAC idéntico a l tuyo y además de instalar un SSD de 480 GB . El HDD que quité lo sustituí en lugar del reproductor de CD (como ya no se usan) y ahora tengo más capacidad, pronto actualizaré la CPU a un T9500 y a la ram a 6GB (4+2). Saludos y gracias por vídeo.

    To 2:50 - just drill 4 new holes and the adapter will work 😂
    Also put Linux Mint or annother Linux on it, and it will work in 2023 nice and easy. 👍

    Hello! Replacing the HD, would it also disable SIP? I guess it's NOT?! I wanted to do the same, but it crashes with error "panic(cpu 1 caller... Process 1 exec of /sbin/launched failed..." when trying to enter to Recovery (Cmd-R) to disable SIP. If we haven't disabled SIP, it can't boot from USB or DVD, right? Also, this video is 2 yo, and it would have issue with Chrome and other apps install, no? My iMac 2007 El Capitan refuses so much apps though, can't even browse internet and youtube correctly, that I need to replace with Windows or Linux!

    I have a 2007 iMac 24" with updated hard drive also. It is also running El Cap. So you are suggesting that Chrome will allow it to surf the web some??? I am looking for things that this computer will still be able to do! I do have an old Panasonic DVX-100A that I will try and connect to it and if that is successful then I can edit a bunch of Mini DV videos and get them in to a digital format on my newer 27" iMac! Are there other web browsers that will work with El Cap???

    • @bull_technology
      @bull_technology  2 роки тому

      Yes, Google Chrome does work with El Capitan, but it’s performance is pretty slow. I would definitely recommend trying some third-party browsers if you want to use an older iMac as your daily driver. I’m pretty sure there’s an Intel version of Ten Four Fox that is pretty well optimized for older core 2 duo machines.
      Apart from the web though, these iMacs are still very capable. Editing Mini DV should be no problem on an aluminum iMac

  • @petergrin3629
    @petergrin3629 2 роки тому +1

    The macOS is still obsolete. You can install linux on it .

    • @bull_technology
      @bull_technology  2 роки тому +2

      I would argue that El Capitan is still perfectly usable. Is it a bit out of date? Sure: but is it obsolete? No.
      Both the latest iterations of Firefox and Chrome are still supported on El Cap., and most other modern software is sill comparable with it as well.
      Unless you’re looking for a specific application-and that application isn’t supported-El Capitan is still completely usable.

    • @petergrin3629
      @petergrin3629 2 роки тому

      @@bull_technology you can use El Capitan, but it not safe. Support has ended in 2018.

    Ok - where you fucked-up (didn't do your research) - a Newertech Adaptadrive SSD caddy (awesome) would have made your SSD install brilliantly simply. AND - you should have installed Linux Mint and begun to enjoy not only you freedoms but many more years of use. Personally I used the Samsung EVO 870 with the caddy mentioned and Linux looks fabulous on the Imac. This is now a dedicated audio editing machine employing Audacity.

    • @bull_technology
      @bull_technology  2 роки тому +2

      You’re right about the caddy-I was mainly concerned with purchasing the cheapest item I could find on eBay. But the Sanddisk drive was something I had on hand, and hence the reason I used it.
      When it comes to the OS, I wanted to use a supported iteration on MacOS because this isn’t my main machine and I find MacOS to be much more versatile than Linux for my needs-even and outdated version.

    • @apistosig4173
      @apistosig4173 2 роки тому

      @@bull_technology One more thing - Carbon Copy Cloner is awesome - had the Imac's HDD cloned to the SSD in an hour and booted first time. MAC more versatile? hmm. I hate MAC almost as much as I hate Windoze - coz' they deny me my freedoms and the choices to do things the way I want to do them / have them done.

    • @bull_technology
      @bull_technology  2 роки тому +3

      I've used Carbon Copy Cleaner before-excellent piece of software.
      On the MacOS thing... I suppose to each their own. To me, MacOS is all I need.
