    Used Home Flex and here's what I learned 1. Make damn sure the cut is absolutely clean because burs will cause leaks and might rip up the fiber washer as well. 2. After the fitting is installed and you're ready to make connections always always always use the best pipe dope and Teflon plumber's tape on the male threads. I unfortunately followed the advice of purist plumbers using just pipe dope and had leaks that were so minor they were undetectable using soapy water. The best way to do this is to first apply a thin coat of dope followed by the yellow Teflon plumber's tape. Wrap the tape so you have 2 layers and in the proper direction so it doesn't bunch up. 3. Take the time to do this all as perfect as you can because it will save you mega hours chasing down leaks caused by sloppy work.

    Can you tell me exactly what I need from proflex to get form the 3/4" csst line to 1" black pipe? I've searched for days.

    • @averyalexander2303
      @averyalexander2303 3 роки тому +3

      You can use a 1 inch to 3/4 inch reducer coupling to reduce the size of the black pipe to 3/4 inch so you can use the normal 3/4 inch CSST fittings to screw onto it. Obviously if you do this the 1 inch pipe functionally becomes a 3/4 inch pipe and won't be able to supply as much gas, but that may be okay depending on what you are using it for. Hopefully this helps

    I have to run Home Flex Underground pipe (or the equivalent) to a gazebo about 70 feet from my BBQ connection. I'm planning on burying it. Should I be increasing the diameter of the piping to handle a run of that length? Advice is appreciated!

      @@benram32 Thanks. You mean add an extra sleeve where you’re going under concrete or pavers? Also, my BBQ line is 3/4. Should i bump it up to 1 inch to carry the gas the extra 80 feet, or just leave it at 3/4?

      There are charts to determine the pipe size required for btu of your BBQ and max distance. FYI you can always go bigger but never smaller.
