    Thank you so much Clay, this is golden. I started Golfing this summer for the first time since 1989-2001. I pretty much had to learn by myself along with the help of UA-cam videos. I couldn't understand how my iron shots are accurate, but my drives were crap. This lesson corrected my slice. It's gone, my drives are dead center and went from 200 yard carry (to the right LOL) to average of 240-260 carry distance. I wish I found this video early this year. I tried several used drivers and still that dreaded slice. This corrected my problem. Now I need to work on my club head speed, and putting. Thank you sir

    Thanks Clay for the great lesson.I'm a flipper and could never get out of it.Tried holding the angle...well you know where that got me.. Nobody has ever told me that my body turn was stopping and causing the flip.Also using the wrist the properly.
    Can't wait to work on it.
    Thanks again.

    Good video here. Even though you are taking about the Driver here I think this issue applies to irons as well. I think a lot of golfers are suffering this ailment. You do such a good job in explaining the feelings and positions. I would love to see a video on how to transition from the closed of neutral impact position with a flipping to the open chest and leading hands. I have watched your video on the position but it is hard find the "body feeling" from the closed and flip position. Keep up the good work!!!

    Flat lead wrist and turning the hips to start the downswing. I've found these to be the most important factors in decent ball striking.

    Clay that’s something man I can’t play 18 holes without hitting at least one real low with the driver . And the thing about it is that you/I never know when the low one is gonna show up

    Saw your video on how to fix a slice in 4 steps, really great video, it didn't take many balls at the range for me to draw it and get them going straight. I hit like 400 balls, and now my wrist is sore, I've never got a sore wrist before, I think it might be cause i'm closing the club face by cupping the wrist. Anyway thanks for the awesome videos. Keep it up!

    • @TopSpeedGolf
      @TopSpeedGolf  4 роки тому

      Thanks David! Hard to say why you're wrist is sore. It could be from moving it incorrectly, using muscles you haven't used much before or overuse. I would recommend resting it and if it persists then possibly seeing your doctor. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor

    • @bc944

      I am struggling with this but I find if I am tense is when my wrist is sore, basically fighting natural wrist hinge with tense forearms and tight grip. I feel like I can get that somewhat bowed grip with a proper grip pressure. BTW I suck lol

    All your videos are the best, Clay. I really appreciate that. If you can explain about dynamic loft with bow shape of the left wrist at the contact with the driver, it will be easier to understand. Doesn't hands-forward action (=De loft club or bow shape of left wrist) make less degree of dynamic loft?

    • @TopSpeedGolf
      @TopSpeedGolf  4 роки тому

      Thanks Leo! Delofting = lowering dynamic loft. When you deloft the face with the driver, you want to hit up on it more to make up for it. This allows you to hit it higher with lower spin which gives you more distance.

    What do you think about Nicklaus/Duval saying that you can never release the club too early??

    • @ThrowinBombs80
      @ThrowinBombs80 6 років тому +1

      squaring the face sooner basically extends the amount of time you can accelerate the club without sacrificing clean impact. Most people struggle with hitting the ball square off the face because they speed up the swing before the club is shallowed and the club face is squaring up. Releasing the hands earlier will do just that for you.

    • @TopSpeedGolf
      @TopSpeedGolf  4 роки тому +1

      Hi, a pull is caused by a closed club face and a club path that is out to in and in the direction of that club face. If you swing more in to out then it should help you get rid of the pull. Best of luck! Quentin | TSG Instructor

    Is it also a good idea to keep the left arm attached to the pec with irons?

    • @TopSpeedGolf

      Hi Scott, yeah, up until after impact. You have to let your lead arm disconnect to get into a full finish. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor

    Clay, when you are at impact with your driver, your hips and body are turned down the target line, as you suggest, but your head is quite a bit in back of the ball (see the 9:38 mark). How in the world do you keep from falling back onto your right foot at some point in the swing when trying to keep your head that far back???? Even in this vid, it looks like you have quite a bit of weight still on that foot at impact. I tried to duplicate this look and feel on the range (with my head that far behind the ball at impact), and all I get are topped/thin shots as I struggle to shift most of my weight onto me left foot. Any suggestions?

    • @TopSpeedGolf
      @TopSpeedGolf  5 років тому +1

      Hi Phil, this is from getting a good weight shift. The momentum allows you to get to your lead side. Most people shift their weight too late. I'm guessing that's what's going on with you. Try shifting your weight during the last half of the backswing and see if that helps. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor

    • @Milofchg
      @Milofchg 5 років тому +1

      My solution, curve your wrist in. Then after some practice your wrist will stay straight. This eliminated my slice and now I see a huge increase in carry distance. My drives are straight most of the time and average 240-260 carry distance. Good luck

    Wouldnt a slighly bow wrist at impact deloft the club?

    • @TopSpeedGolf
      @TopSpeedGolf  5 років тому +1

      Hi, bowing the lead wrist at impact is what squares the face when you get forward shaft lean. If you just push the handle forward and don't change the wrist angles then the face is left wide open. You bow the lead wrist to square it. I hope that helps. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor

      @@TopSpeedGolf Where were you a year ago!!!? Oh wait, this was a year ago. lol How come all videos about slices talk about in-out, face angle, strong grips etc.? This is the first I'm hearing about wrist rotation and angles. These videos don't show up when searching about fixing your slice. BTW, does forward shaft lean mean I'm releasing too late?
