Com-Pac Restoration Ep 5: Getting Ready to Separate the Deck from the Hull

In this video we pull the boat out from under the trees and start preparing it for the separation of the deck from the hull. The winter was long and cold and now it is time to continue with the Com-Pac 16 sailboat restoration project. After the deck separation , the stringers will be re-constructed and the boat re-assembled.

Can't wait to see the finished boat . I know how much work it is to replace stringers. I sometimes think I like working on the boats more then using the boats.

Good video, Scott. I did a lot of work on boats for years. Used to hang off the side of the gunnel making patterns. Never fell in, but lost a cellphone once. Haha. I think Harley wants to get in and help you, Scott.

I'm sure you have probably figured this out, but the scuppers (drains) connect and are fiber glassed to both halves of the boat.

Just curious, I have the same year compac, and on the very bottom of the keel in front of the stern trailer roller is a perfectly square cut out in the fiberglass. Almost like the company filled the concrete ballast from there, then plugged it will filler. Wondering if yours was the same...
