Thomas is what I like to call a Graggle character, a character that has been in the show for a period of time but randomly doesn’t show up for the rest of the show. Veteran fans of the show will remember him but newcomers will have no idea about said character. Other examples of Graggle characters I can think of are Gopher from Winnie the Pooh, Prairie Dawn from Sesame Street and Stereo from Space Goofs, characters that use to be main members of the cast but in recent seasons are now only occasional cameos.
i think thomas is a pseudo-graggle, bc its not like he was there from the show’s inception or and he appeared pretty well into it’s prime so most ppl who watched the show remember him i would say and the only reason they wouldn’t is bc of how brief his stint was and how little he showed up afterwards. also is graggle derived from something?
@@StanleyNumber427 Not really Tord because the circumstances were different. He even have an episode where he left. He HAS an explain why he left. Hell, even the End gives in lore explanation.
@@leeb5112 graggle is associated with a lost Simpsons character that people have often claimed was real and was removed from all episodes or is only in a Alternative Universe version of the Simpsons.
Wouldn't it be the opposite? Many of us might forget Thomas but newer fans will remember him since they've frequently watched the show? Of course old fans will rewatch
I like Thomas, mostly because I relate to him the most. Just some guy who's mostly on the sidelines watching other people do things, while have little to no involvement with the group. I originally thought that one episode where Mordecai & Rigby go into Thomas's brain, where a little man, who was trying to kill Thomas, fell in the pit survived and is somehow rewiring his brain to make him go rogue. But no, Thomas just suddenly went Russian one day and left... I still like him, but I do feel like there was some missed potential with him.
I am also in the camp of the three people who, for whatever reason, had Thomas as their favorite character. I really liked the dynamic of, out of all these wacky zany characters (excluding High-Five Ghost) who were constantly getting into situations and more often than not getting someone else killed over it, there was just this regular guy. Just an intern trying to get by and more often than not getting sucked into his friends' adventures. He was on the bottom rung of the park food chain, but he never really seemed to resent that, and that made him likable. He was a dork, but not to the point where he was ever annoying. I dunno man, I just really liked him for some reason.
i dont know why, but thomas just had something you LOVED about him. even as nikolai, i loved him. im so bummed he wasn't in the finale. he was my favourite character
Imma be real, Thomas became my favorite immediately because I love goats. Plus him being like, super damn normal in a show like this was just fun to me. Then the plot twist of him being a spy stuck with me so much for some reason??? Like even after I stopped watching the show that scene just lived in my head for many years for no absolute reason.
it was always funny to me whenever a wide shot that showed the whole gang happened, thomas would also be there, adding very little to the conversation. he's the ultimate "and also x is there" character
I wish Thomas came back in the final season having stole an experimental Russian spacecraft or something anything to just bring him back into the show would’ve worked for me There could’ve been a subplot about the park crew and Thomas talking about how much of the time he really cared for the park crew and how much he was there for Russia It could’ve led to some incredibly emotional moments
I think a big part of Thomas's character was that he was so forgettable. He snuck into the show, snuck into the lives of the main characters, and all of a sudden had a huge climactic moment. I'd wager that a lot of people didn't even realize that Thomas was in the show until it was revealed that he was a spy. Then everybody got Mandella effected thinking "wait Thomas was here all along?!?!" The pure shock that someone we barely noticed for several seasons was such a huge player in the parks story shows us how much the people in our lives that we disregard really matter, and I think it was a great way for the show creators to prank the audience

you are genuinely my favourite youtuber to do reviews of cartoons and adult cartoons, like your humor is amazing i just love it, keep doing what you doing its great
What I think is funny is that if Regular Show really was a story-driven show that cared a lot about its setups and payoffs and the lore it wanted to tell then something like this would have a thousand video essays as to “when this show lost all its quality”, but because it’s Regular Show you just kinda accept it because it’s definitely not the weirdest thing this show did lol
I really liked Thomas, and kinda hate the twist. I love him as the straight man to the crazy ass group. And yes, I like him waaaaay better than fives. This is the first time I’ve seen someone mirror how I feel about it. Like, I hate that it makes every previous interaction almost meaningless. I like the episode where it’s revealed, but what it represents is suuuuuper mid. The whole video is EXACTLY how I feel about it. 10:35 is a PERFECT representation on how I feel. Also I love the running joke of Thomas fucking dying in the car in this video😂
I liked Thomas because he’s just a normal respectable guy surrounded by chaos. He takes his ribbing on the cheek, he does his work and sometimes other people’s work, he’s adaptable to the insanity of the park, and he never loses that bit of innocence that makes everyone want to protect him
Thomas was like probably like the first time I saw a character in regular show that reminded me of someone I knew which was my brother I was really bummed when I saw the Thomas reveal ep cuz Thomas in space would’ve been so awesome
I think Exit 9B was just more impactful to me (and a lot of ppl) because it came out when we were kids! It was very hyped by CN at the time and very satisfying to watch with all the crazy characters. the movie/finale were obviously generally better but at that point im 18 and my health sucks my job sucks etc.
Y'know what? After binge-watching RS a few years back, I think this is a video that was needed. Honestly, I liked Tomas and was shocked and confused by the whole Nikolai thing. I loved that basic milquetoast of a goat. I did like the hints but him being fully blown as a Russian spy was a twist, arguable if it was good. Pushing it on the Fives slander but-- I can understand 😔It is CRIMINAL he wasn't in space or the finale at all like bruh??
Thomas was always my favorite character. I love how calm he acts compared to the others, and the Russian spy deal was also pretty cool tbh but I was sad he never got >5 seconds screen time after that
I liked the idea of Thomas being a ''normal guy'' in absurd events. For example in the GTA SA, everybody is crazy expect CJ and his reactions to events are like your own reactions. Thomas was also like that. In a world that everyone is crazy but him, his reactions were relatable.
I still remember Thomas; I use to watch regular show and yet one of the most forgettable characters of all time was one of the most rememberable characters to me.
i can relate so much it was arefreshing to just have a regular guy in all the craziness, thomas was my favourite character ever since he was added because i can relate to him so much
A possible explanation for why the character of Thomas was created in the first place could be that Roger Craig Smith just got more expensive as a voice actor and they needed something to justify keeping him on. We all know that RCS is the voice of Sonic, so maybe prior to the introduction of Thomas, RCS was offer and accepted his role as Sonic in the Sonic Boom show that was also being aired on Cartoon Network, which of course would have taken his attention away from Regular Show and he would have had to ask for a higher salary for him to do both. From there, JG Quintel or some other showrunner decided to pay the difference to keep him on and created the character of Thomas so that he doesn't go to waste as a more expensive voice actor just doing background character voices. The lack of depth in Thomas at first could be proof of this where they just needed *A* 1-dimensional regular character for him to voice and they would fill in the details later on, which they hastily did with the Russian spy subplot.
Christmas episode, when da guys had to destroy a Evil elf’s Christmas gift to save Christmas, Thomas was in da beginning but benson told him to go do sum, and when they came back his head was in da stairwell😂, lowkey more memorable then high five ghost and he actually went with them😭
I 100% agree with him being way better than high-five ghost. Initially, before sitting down and fully watching regular show, I thought fives would have a much bigger role to play in the show. Really though, he was pretty sidelined despite how important he is to muscle man’s character and how much he rounds out the park’s dynamic.
Whats crazy is I remeber him so vividly. I clicked the video cuz of the thumbnail and it’s like every memory I’ve ever had came back to me about this show
At the time besides Pops, Thomas was one of my favorites. It was just him being a normal guy..I don't know I just liked his character and defiantly was shocked when we got that plot twist.
I'm pretty sure they jist added him for his final episode, line him jist appearing out of nowhere and being treated like normal untill he's a Soviet spy out of nowhere is the funniest thing ever
Thomas (voiced by Roger Craig Smith, Thomas' real name is eventually revealed to be 'Nikolai') is an average-sized goat, standing at about 5'9". He has tan-colored fur, longish bangs, a small brown beard on his chin, and grey horns on top of his head. His first appearance was in the episode 'Exit 9B'. He originally was a spy.
Honestly Thomas kinda reminds me of Tord from Eddsworld, they were both main characters for a period, both had personality changes, and then left and showed up in cameos however unlike Thomas Tord hasn’t gotten his redemption yet…
I always liked Thomas. I dont know.I think it may be just how normal and grounded he felt really helped contrast with all the wildness that happened every episode. A paragon of normalcy and an all around wholsome little guy. All this also made it feel exra special when he did anything. It's funny how inexplicably capable he seems to be and how little he's interest he shows in utilizing any of it. Ive personally retconnd the twist from my mind and just imagine that he just went of to work at a walmart or something.
I still think they should have replaced Fives with Thomas in Exit 9B, with a twist that showed that he was just ghost like ghost to other people, because they never remembered him, we never got to see him. Though it's still an amazing show, and had a banger ending. So i guess it's aight.
Honestly I liked the concept of Thomas just being a normal guy in the midst of all the chaos that is the show. It sucks that they didn't do much with him

I can think of Tord from the Eddsworld series.
i think thomas is a pseudo-graggle, bc its not like he was there from the show’s inception or and he appeared pretty well into it’s prime so most ppl who watched the show remember him i would say and the only reason they wouldn’t is bc of how brief his stint was and how little he showed up afterwards. also is graggle derived from something?
And I just realised Thomas has a goatee. That is definitely one of the jokes of all time
Thomas being one of the characters of all time.😊
@@SirBogginshe was THE GOAT before the goat even existed
@@eggdogtim8593 HELL YEA! 🗿
i dont know why, but thomas just had something you LOVED about him. even as nikolai, i loved him. im so bummed he wasn't in the finale. he was my favourite character
I wish Thomas came back in the final season having stole an experimental Russian spacecraft or something anything to just bring him back into the show would’ve worked for me
There could’ve been a subplot about the park crew and Thomas talking about how much of the time he really cared for the park crew and how much he was there for Russia
It could’ve led to some incredibly emotional moments
I think a big part of Thomas's character was that he was so forgettable. He snuck into the show, snuck into the lives of the main characters, and all of a sudden had a huge climactic moment. I'd wager that a lot of people didn't even realize that Thomas was in the show until it was revealed that he was a spy. Then everybody got Mandella effected thinking "wait Thomas was here all along?!?!" The pure shock that someone we barely noticed for several seasons was such a huge player in the parks story shows us how much the people in our lives that we disregard really matter, and I think it was a great way for the show creators to prank the audience
One of your best and funniest videos yet.
Also really small detail but as someone who also owns a snow peashooter plush and keychain it brings me great joy just seeing another one even if it's just for an outro meme.
No matter how much you explain a scene from this show it will always feel like one of those weird dreams you have while in the heat waves of summer.
7:46 Nah, bruh, don't put salt on the wounds like that. I still haven't recovered from how dirty those hoes did CE _💀_
The side character who knew more than he led on .
3:49 unironically tho🎉😊
His character design was a goat for a reason... because he was the GOAT✨
Thomas deserves his own series or at least deserved to be in the finale, he's the most badass character in the show
0:53 "You can touch music, but music can touch you." Mordecais best line.
Just like drake!
8:51 wait so Tomas went undercover while UNDERCOVER
you are genuinely my favourite youtuber to do reviews of cartoons and adult cartoons, like your humor is amazing i just love it, keep doing what you doing its great
He wasn't really.. a main OR side character, he just kinda, was a character. It's weird as hell, you just kinda see him and then you don't.
I love the batshit ADHD editing style of your videos
He takes his ribbing on the cheek, he does his work and sometimes other people’s work, he’s adaptable to the insanity of the park, and he never loses that bit of innocence that makes everyone want to protect him
High Five Ghost’s whole purpose is the same as Waluigi’s. Just to be a filler partner for a character to parallel the main pair.
Thomas was like probably like the first time I saw a character in regular show that reminded me of someone I knew which was my brother
I was really bummed when I saw the Thomas reveal ep cuz Thomas in space would’ve been so awesome
3:05 bro you just unearthed a deep obscure memory of mine with that video of the guy playing the guitar

As a Thomas enjoyer I’ve never felt so seen in my life
Y'know what? After binge-watching RS a few years back, I think this is a video that was needed. Honestly, I liked Tomas and was shocked and confused by the whole Nikolai thing. I loved that basic milquetoast of a goat. I did like the hints but him being fully blown as a Russian spy was a twist, arguable if it was good. Pushing it on the Fives slander but-- I can understand 😔It is CRIMINAL he wasn't in space or the finale at all like bruh??
Thomas was always my favorite character. I love how calm he acts compared to the others, and the Russian spy deal was also pretty cool tbh but I was sad he never got >5 seconds screen time after that
thomas looks like a member of tally hall
Thanks for the new headcanon he's a tally hall fan
8:01
fun fact he kinda sounds like Tord from Eddsworld
"I'm russian spy" had me dead in the grave 6 foot under
I liked the idea of Thomas being a ''normal guy'' in absurd events. For example in the GTA SA, everybody is crazy expect CJ and his reactions to events are like your own reactions. Thomas was also like that. In a world that everyone is crazy but him, his reactions were relatable.
I still remember Thomas; I use to watch regular show and yet one of the most forgettable characters of all time was one of the most rememberable characters to me.
i can relate so much it was arefreshing to just have a regular guy in all the craziness, thomas was my favourite character ever since he was added because i can relate to him so much
I loved the enthusiasm in this video. It really impacted Thomas’ character.
Wait....
If Thomas was Nikolai all this time then that means that his signature in Exit 9B is fake. They should have lost.
idk he must've at least had ID that said his name is thomas so ig that counts
Thomas blending into the background and hardly having any lines kinda fits his russian spy persona in my opinion.
Im glad people are still talking about Regular show, tears of joy.
Really though, he was pretty sidelined despite how important he is to muscle man’s character and how much he rounds out the park’s dynamic.
i haven't watched regular show recently enough to have even known thomas ever existed, but this video genuinely made me feel sad about him tbh
I miss Thomas slightly more every day, deserved more than a confusing ass plot twist and a whole personality change ☹
7:04 Thats a goat, indeed
I liked him as a kid because we had the same name. I'll never forgive those bastards for changing it
2:16 I find it hilarious that you connected Thomas to Brooklyn T Guy. Despite the fact that they are two VERY different people if you think about it.
7:17 Listen to what Chazington says and at the same time look at Thomas's mouth
I fucking missed Thomas and I really wished he stayed til the Finale. Honestly one of my favorite characters.
If I was a Russian spy, and my target was a bunch of park dwellers who battle satan in a high speed chase every week, I'd quit my job.
8:43 Well, I like to believe that all those memories were frozen so it was impossible to see
I'm pretty sure they jist added him for his final episode, line him jist appearing out of nowhere and being treated like normal untill he's a Soviet spy out of nowhere is the funniest thing ever
Thomas emminated main character energy, that's why they couldn't give him more to do or he'd take over the show from Mordecai and Rigby.
4:56
There no doubt he died. We even seen dead.
This show had a lot of deaths.
The End still hurts me.
@@invaderness7336 me too dude 😞
Actually he did have 1 small cameo. He was at Muscle Man’s wedding but he was in a costume or something
I honestly didn't care as a kid but looking back that plot twist was definitely a last minute idea.
7:40
Feeling like Wings on a daily basis
thomas is the one guy in the class who basically just came out of nowhere and everyone automatically has no problem with him
The Brooklyn Guy comparisons put me into a coma
I still think they should have replaced Fives with Thomas in Exit 9B, with a twist that showed that he was just ghost like ghost to other people, because they never remembered him, we never got to see him.
Though it's still an amazing show, and had a banger ending. So i guess it's aight.
I like the Russian spy part, it’s a regular show type twist , I like to think it was the plan from the start, wish he stuck around tho
