Last night my husband told me I need to stop listening to your music. The words make him uncomfortable and he doesn't understand how they can possibly be any good for me. I told him that I need to know that there is at least one person out there who understands my pain. ' I love his voice and he make me feel.'

@@twistedreality997 It was coming from a place of love because he knows that loud noises and angry voices trigger my PTSD. After I told him that listening to someone who understands my pain helps so much, he did his best to understand. Truthfully, I am so glad he doesn't understand. He just loves me through it all.
@@twistedreality997 Or he is somebody that has never been depressed and doesn't understand how someone can feel these emotions. He obviously cares about them because "he doesn't understand how they can possibly be any good for me".
He's not being condescending or showing a red flag, he's just never been in our situation and he's trying to give genuine, good advice.
Situations like this is just a muddled cloud of grey, and even if you have the entire context of the situation (unlike a 1 throwaway YT comment in a time when you feel vulnerable) there can still be no clear answer (e.g. go outside, you'll feel better, so you go outside and still feel just as bad. You are going to feel worse if you are inside all day, but going outside won't necessarily make you feel any better. You might feel better, but it didn't work, but hey at least you gave it a shot). See how in an example like this there isn't any clear black or white but instead a muddy grey cloud that you will never get a true answer from?
.At the end of the day, the best we can do is be empathetic because we know that the husband is trying to help the best he can

Citizen Soldier, you'll never dissapoint me.
I've already heard your whole album but this song resonates to me the most. Your lyrics are more relateable and deep it makes me (and a lot of other people) feel understood and helps to get trough hard times. This whole song hits home for me and to think those things you sing on a daily basis can just fuck up your whole mindset - your Refrain for example. My heart paused for a Moment as the Refrain came up and had to swallow for a moment to be honest.
I'm just so thankful to know your music because of all the points I've already made. Bless you all, we will all overcome our inner demons and the war we're fighting within us.

It feels like everyone is kicking me down for my little flaws and it's too much to handle sometimes. Part of the problem is my anxiety trying to take control of the wheel, and the fact that I'm harder on myself than anyone ever will be. To me, this song represents my constant struggle to come to terms with the person I am and all of my flaws

Sorry if I'm expressing myself a little strongly, but it's the worst pain ever and it's all based on untruths. No-one should have to endure it.

I used to feel like a letdown, someone who isn't good enough for anyone... I started working at a hospital in June as a Unit Assistant in Emerg, I started feeling rewarded and happy with who I've become over the last 4-5 months especially with all the amazing peeps I've met who've grown to care about me as much as I care about them

This one too hits really close to home. I wish it wouldn't but it's entirety reminds me of my mother.
No matter what I do, I feel like it's never right. I'm never good enough.
The lines "maybe better off dead" and "why can't you be proud of me" resonates in a very specific way when you combine it with the bridge "I never asked to be like this, a grave mistake you can't forgive. A filthy stain, oh what a shame. Can you just wash me away?".
It resonates with me because I was born to a young mother, she was around my current age (20) when she had me, so in the back of my mind the question " was I conceived knowingly or was I a surprise?" lingers. Plus, right from the start I wasn't what she thought I was going to be.
I was born with a kind of heart condition that doctors in our area at the time could not seem to diagnose and they would always tell my parents I wouldn't live longer than a year. So they worked their butts off to find someone able to help us and they did. I was told that story countless times, from a very early age.
And when years went by, bringing their cargo of new experiences (most of which were bad ones but I hold on to the good ones now), I often found myself wondering if my family wouldn't have been better off if I had actually died. I actually still do because I can't seem to get rid of the guilt knowing all the time and money they must have used to keep me..
Anyways that's a longer story and this comment is long enough as it is.
Once again thank you Citizen Soldier for creating and producing such great pieces and sharing them with us.. 🌹

You are amazing for what you have been through and sharing light with others. Never doubt that. Any ideas for what we should write about in 2020? You've brought together, thanks to your talent and selflessness, people from very different backgrounds and created a safe place for us to enjoy great music and vent. We will never be able to thank you enough. I truly believe though that it should be normal for people to share experiences and/or advices. I never would want anyone to make the mistakes I made (that's why I shared another story under "Kill my memory") and that's why I speak up and i find hard to see why that makes me "amazing", because it shouldn't. Some friends and I actually went to a journal and testified of what we had lived and witnessed during our time in one of our schools, because we had heard that the same kind of problems were still going on there.
You don't have to change anything, your music represents my journey among a lot of others, and I can't sit here and pretend to know what everyone would like to hear about.
But I believe that, in the same tone of Buried Alive where it was about people being misunderstood/unheard/mental health problems, a song about being used/taken advantage of could be very cathartic to a lot of people.
Because when I first heard "Buried Alive" it automatically drove me (and I assume unfortunately many others) back into my early teenage years (full of bullying, people being manipulative, and sexual assaults to name a few) and it also made me remember how dealing with the consequences of these experiences made me the person I am today.
Not necesseraly stronger, but wiser.
That's also what made me realize how ephemeral things are (and made me call myself Mayfly, which is a pseudo I use everywhere, especially when I publish writings on the internet).

"I rather die tonight, then let you down one more time". That fucked up me up for a couple hours and so. This song really captures how I feel when it always came to pleasing my parents. They would always say they were proud of me, but they were always proud of me for things I wasn't proud of. They'd only be proud of me for things they wanted me to do. "Why can't you be proud of me". That line just stole the show, and whenever you mentioned "I hate to disappoint you, but it's in my DNA", that is how I feel nowadays. Spent so long letting people down, that I really think letting people down, and disappointing people is seriously in my DNA. I can't believe how many songs you guys have that I relate to, to a fucking T. As a metalhead, I love screaming, but I've also learned to love cleans. When the singer screamed/sing near the end, was like the perfect mixture of the two. It's scary how accurate this song is to me, but once again, even though I always feel alone, it's always good to know that I'm never really alone.

I know this is 4 years late but the chorus really hits hard. I’ve felt like a failure all my life, like nothing ever goes right for me and have just been stuck for the last few years thinking maybe I’m just that one unlucky person who’s only existence is to suffer and fail while everyone else gets to enjoy a better life they want

This song hit a lot of points in me. All the things in the chorus is something ive all thought about a lot of times. And always something ive held myself against. Cause of the feeling of not being good enough to live up to others expectations or never reaching the goals ive wanted to hit. Both family and love is not easy for me because of this

This is exactly how i feel alot of times. I try and try my best to make a better life for myself, my kids, some of my family, trying to have a better relationship with someone who wants me, and will love me uncondtionally, without judgement. Im a very openminded woman, creative, like to be different and try new things. Ive had bad telationships throughout my life. Have been a sidepiece to men which doesnt feel good at all. Not anymore though. I put my foot down about that. I also wont be the other woman in a relationship. When im with someone i tend to stay faithful and committed. Im not perfect though, ive cheated in the past on boyfriends but that was when i was younger. Thats not who i am now. Ive been depressed and sad lately. Just not happy in my current situation. Im not going to get into that, ive gotten to the point that ive started to almost feel numb, like my life doesnt matter, or my feelings.

My new favorite band. They speak the words I've been searching for my whole life. Keep doing what you guys do cause it's working. Every song of theirs I feel in my soul. My life is hell I've had chronic PTSD since 3 years old spent half my life not even knowing. I'm always a second choice. I'm always hated or misjudged, my parents don't even help me through anymore I'm alone and IM NOT OKAY.. I'm never good enough. All anyone ever sees is a devil inside. If my scars could speak they would hear my pain. I'm battling daily and losing. I just want to be okay. I've been a mess for a decade my physical health is spiraling downward doctors have been trying to figure out what's wrong with me half of them said they've never encountered this before those words just make me feel even more alone. Nobody will talk to me I just need people to care cause I feel like I'm the only one going through this and it's such a lonely road I've been walking down. Please someone reach out. 😭😭😭

It’s songs like this that convince me it’s not worth it, I’m gonna make a Citizen Soldier playlist on loop, so that next year when I’m found in my apartment people can just sit there and listen to my pain through the music as they stare at my lifeless body

How is every song you guys write both amazing and relatable? It's so full of emotion that I want to cry everytime because of how much it seems like you've gone through everything in your lyrics. There's so much emotion in your voice. The instrumentals also compliment it so well and make it feel even more like you've poured everything into every song. Hopefully one day everyone will know who you guys are because I feel like your music could save a lot of lives..
