    Yo crew! What's your favorite packable towel for travel?

    • @M0ebius
      @M0ebius 6 років тому +6

      I use a shemagh. For me the versatility outweighs the packability, since I use it for everything from towel, scarf, blanket, sun pro, rain hood, face mask, sweat rag, seating, to emergency slingpack, among many other potential uses. In fact I carry two for extended travel, one solid colors and one with prints, to switch it up and camouflage the fact that I wear the same outfit more or less every day. Personally the aesthetics works for me, but maybe not for everyone.
      You can technically do the same with micro towels, but generally those things are not square-shaped and are far less breathable, especially when wet.

      Thanks for the detailed response M0ebius- we dig the versatility! 👍

      I use the packtowl or an rei one and they've been great. Even when hotels provide towels, these things are great as allergen barriers for pillows so I don't wake up stuffy the next day.

      Another great way to use packable towels! Thanks for sharing Marie Huynh 👍

      Pack Hacker Sea to Summit DryLite L!
      Packed in its cool zippered case it fits in my hand nicely, but big enough to dry my entire body plus some!

    You know, aesthetic aside, it would be nice if you reviewed how well it dries you, and how fast it dries itself. It's a towel, after all.

      watch at 1.5x speed. less than 7 minutes. Personally I'd rather watch a 7 minute video, than spend money & more time shopping around for subpar towels.

    I love these! I bought them both because of the case and clip. They are convenient in so many ways. Super easy to put on the outside of your bag and let it dry out a bit. I always take them with me on trips be it hot springs, camping/backpacking/hiking, and even air travel. The bigger one actually helped me when a cat gave birth in my air b&b 😆

    Lol, I misread the title and thought this was a nano shower - thought the case with holes plugged into a tap/water bottle or a creek somewhere?

  • @lordrandal90

    I got them both, I use the small one for my hair and face and the big one for... Everything else. I don't recommend them in cold and/or humid climates because they will leave you slightly damp, not 100% dry.

    If you want to use as little space as possible, wouldn't you simply pack the towel without that 'massive' silicone case? To me it seems like the case is only useful if you want to carry the towel outside of your backpack. Or is there a more useful purpose of the case that I missed?

    Towel is great. Case is stupid hipster marketing fluff. Matador makes some good stuff but they are bit too heavy on the marketing aimed at millennials.
    The small one is not a towel, it's a handkerchief. Which is actually great. I've been carrying a slightly larger one made from the same material in my back pocket for a couple of decades now. Glad to see Matador, Sea To Summit and others are finally selling larger versions.

    REI offers a good selection and sizing as well as light version. I got a lodge today for 13 bucks which I believe was either 30 or 40% off the regular price.

    Hello! Do you guys have any suggestions for a large but compact towel that is not made from microfibre? I really don't like how the material feels on the skin, but most compact ones seem to be made from it.

    • @PackHacker
      @PackHacker  4 роки тому +1

      Hey Sarah - so far we've found microfiber to be great for travel because it dries quickly and packs down super small, but we totally get that the texture isn't going to work for everyone. We haven't been able to get our hands on any travel towels with different materials, but we're always on the lookout for new gear, so keep an eye out. 😊

    Is it good for taking a shower at the gym? It dries out easily or not? I hate caring bath towels at the gym every single day, they're heavy and impractical

    We have a fitness center at work with a typical locker room. Unfortunately, we don’t have towel service and I’m not a huge fan of a full sized, wet bath towel in my bag all day, plus it’s the single largest thing I have to pack. Is this towel a good alternative? How fast the towel dries is less important to me than how well it works as a shower towel to get me dry. Thanks!

    • @PackHacker
      @PackHacker  2 роки тому +1

      Hey Craig! The feel of the Microfiber may not be what you're looking for in this case-plus it's pretty thin. Have you considered PackTowl? That may be more up your alley for this use case: packhacker.com/travel-gear/packtowl/personal-towel/
