Hi guys, I just found out there is a little edit error in this video on row 12, when making the corner starting at 14:25. Somehow I accidentally copied the part that says '1 bpsc in 4th dc, ch 2'. Please ignore the copied part (between 14:37 - 14:44). So to make clear, between 14:25 - 14:50 it should be: (1 bpsc in the 4th dc, ch 2, 1 bpsc in same st) Sorry for the confusion! If you didn't already, make sure to read the free written pattern as this will make it much easier to understand the pattern: wilmade.com/ana-lucia-shawl/
I was going CRAZYYYY!!!! LMAO! I had to unmake it like 5 times...it wasn't coming out as yours on the video lol! thanks for clarifying! beautiful work!
You state your pattern is free but it is not and I still am trying to understand row 12. I will try it again with this information but if it doesn't work I will look for some other pattern. Sorry but I am confused and you just go to fast to follow.
I was a little lost, but I just kept re-watching & re-watching & re-watching & re-watching & re-watching& I FINALLY GOTIT!!!! Thank you 🙏….. it turned out “GORGEOUS “……… THANK YOU
After several failed attempts of trying to follow along other UA-camr editorials on how to make a🧣, I finally discovered your channel on how to make this beautiful🧣. Thank you so much for an easy step by step way to do this project. Not everyone’s editorial is as easy to follow as yours👩🏽🦱.
I have made this shawl many times. The video and written pattern do an excellent job of explaining what to do. It always turns out beautiful and the people I have given it to as gifts have absolutely loved it. Thank you for sharing your story and patterns with us.
Omg cant believe how pretty, lovely, original and unique your patterns are!!! 🤩And they are also so fun to do! Impressive that you manage to still be unique amongst so so many tutorials, but you easily stand out!! ( now, last year, 2 years ago, etc) Thank you for the tutorial(s), and for your amazing patterns! 🙏👏👏👏💐🙌🙌🙌
I found and fell in love with this glorious lacy design soon after you first shared the pattern. I wasn't sure I could do it but after typing up Row 12 in large print and breaking up the steps with space between the rows of text so that I can follow it without getting lost, it has become a very simple and fast design to complete. I HIGHLY recommend that anyone with less than perfect vision, or who "gets lost" easily do the same. Row 12 can be a stinker if you don't break it down in a way you can follow. For ME rewriting that one line made all the difference. The rest of the design is extremely easy just as the pattern is written. It's amazing how such a complicated looking design can be so easy to complete! I am just about to complete the third pattern repeat section and am going to add one more section of repeated rows before doing the final rows.( I like a longer shawl.) It is now one of my very favorite and most satisfying designs to crochet! It would easily make up into a totally stunning throw too! (That is my plan for a future project along with several more Ana Lucia shawls.) Thank you so much for sharing the pattern AND the very special story behind it. Bless you...and bless Anna. To anyone who has problems, just take your time, count your stitches as you go. Use plenty of stitch markers as you learn the pattern...and MARK the CENTER (Corner) so you know you are getting it right. The center will tell you immediately if you made an error. Make notes on your pattern. It will all make sense...it will become easy (!) and it's worth every minute invested!!!
Dianne, thank you so much for your amazing comment. So sorry for my late reply, I didn't see it before. I'm so happy you managed to write out row 12 to make it easier to follow. And glad to hear you find the pattern & instructions clear! Really appreciate your lovely words 💗 Best wishes from Holland!
This shawl tutorial showed up in my home feed, and it caught my eye! I found the next crochet shawl I'm going to make. This is the first video of your tutorials that I've watched, and you do an excellent job! Clear speaking, and easy to see and understand, and you don't go too fast. Thank you for the wonderful design and tutorial! I look forward to checking out more of your videos
Douglas Vaccaro I agree and I’m on my 3rd Ana Lucia Shawl! She has such a peaceful voice and clear instructions. I prefer her how to crochet videos to most others. Cheers!
Douglas Vaccaro I’ve made several of her shawls I agree with you her tutorials are some of the best out there. It’s great because it’s slow enough for beginners But she also edits it in a way that is fast enough for more advanced crocheters where they won’t get bored with the pace! Plus there’s always the written pattern you can get from her website
Lovely pattern. I love it. I got confused on row 12 so frogged it and slowed down the video and made it full screen to see that there is only one loop center top.
Wilma, you are such a fighter woman, so proud of you and what you are doing, you inspired me a lot. You are so talented with crochet and I love this shawl and will be my next project,. THANKS SO MUCH WILMA!!!
row 10- corner bit. just before the corner will be the last 7dcs before the corner space, sc in the gap before the corner (in between the 2 dcs). then 7dcs in the corner space, sc in between the 2 dcs, 7dcs in next 2chain space carry on as normal to end of row.
I still get 90 stitches in row 10 when the pattern says there should be 89 stitches. I've market the row with stitch markers and agree with your corner explanation above but counting the first sc and last sc, I get 90 stitches. Frustrating!!
I found your channel like a week ago and today I sat to see and read your pattern and what inspired you to made it. You have a gift to design and to teach crochet. Your video tutorial, the written pattern and the table you made are very clear. I can't wait to see the other patterns, I'm sure they are going to be as pretty as this one and the Joyful Josie .... please keep on designing . 🤗
FINALLY! WILMA...WHERE HAVE U BEEN ALL MY LIFE!!! THESE ARE THE PATTERNS IVE BEEN LOOKING FOR! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!! 😊 🙏🏻 Seriously every single pattern you have is STUNNING! Its very generous of you to share AND teach them! Cant thank u enough! Keep it up! If this beautiful wearable art is what you have already done, I cant WAIT to see whats coming next!!!! 😍😍😍😍😍😘😘
I absolutely LOVE..LOVE this shawl...ive seen it on here for quite some time and felt that it would be too difficult. But now I watched your entire tutorial and its actually easier than I thought. Thank you soo much for this gorgeous pattern . God Bless you!!
Wilma , I just finished the shawl as a gift for my cousin, it turned out beautiful ! Your tutorial was so easy to follow. Huge thanks can’t wait to give it to her.
Wilma, thank you very much for this tutorial! I just finished the shawl - I used a rainbow-colored thread (1000 m) and a 3 mm hook. It took 4 full repeats of the pattern. Thank you again ❤️
This is beautiful! Thank you for sharing. For all those who complain that the video goes too fast - learn how to use UA-cam! All you have to do is slow it down.
Dear Wilma I'm glad you have found people who share your rare condition and are able to help you through your journey. I too have a disease and it helps me greatly to know others suffer through the same circumstances themselves and always have a shared empathy with me. I was looking for a pattern for a shawl just like yours for this coming winter here in Australia. I've followed your directions to purchase Scheepies Whirl Night Time Bubbles 788 and I hope I'm able to follow along with you. Have you considered doing a second part video for the completion of the shawl and the beautiful scolloped edge for us beginners? It would be truly appreciated. Thank you for your generosity sharing such beautiful and inspirational pieces, kindest regards Karen 💞💞💞
Thank you for such a lovely pattern. I am from Delhi, India and we dont get such type of yarns in our country. So I made this shawl with a yarn thats easily available here and it turned out really pretty. I enjoyed making it. Plan to make more for my friends. Thanks once again for your pattern
thankyou Wilma for sharing your beautiful story as well as your beautiful patterns. I am in the process of crocheting up this shawl. Your pattern and combined video tutorial was very informative.
I stumbled across your video recently and just want to thank you for your time and efforts.. and it's FREE! I love this shawl and your instructions are very clear and easy to follow/understand so it's turning out beautifully
I made a shawl from this pattern and gave it to my son in law's mother, and she loves it! It works up so beautifully. Your version of it is gorgeous, Jax! 💜💜
Wilma, I am so happy to have found you! I can easily follow your instructions as a mid level crocheter, and your peaceful voice gives me a sense of calm. Also, I think you are brilliant (genius actually) and I LOVE your patterns. I’m on my third Ana Lucia shawl and I also have made the flower shawl. Thank you so much for your patterns and tutorials! With love, take care💗
I made this for my mom for Christmas 2019. My family loves and appreciates handmade gifts and they were all amazed at how beautiful this pattern is. Thank you! I made it a little bigger by adding 2 more rounds of rows and used 2.5 skeins of Lion Brand 'Shawl in a Bawl'. I forgot what color but it has the word Meadow in it.
@@suesmith948 it was Shawl in a Ball by Lion Brand in the color "Community Coral". My mom is pretty petite and I used 2 1/2 skeins and it covers her really well.
I adore this pattern. Your video, plus the step by step instructions on your blog, PLUS the super useful stitch count table, resulted in a gorgeous shawl that's going to be a Christmas present for my mother in law. Next one will be a New Year's shawl for mum. Thanks so much!
@@WilmaWestenberg yep the way u hold ur hook ur finger going up to feed the yarn and how the yarn flows through ur hand... we are crochet twins in every way. Soon I'll find out if our gauge is the same too... I gotta finish some wips... but u earned a follower just by how u crochet.
Wilma, I'm going to make this. I have enough yarn (two mandala cakes, chimera colorway, since you asked us to tell you). I bought this yarn with no specific pattern in mind, but I like the Ana Lucia Shawl so much I'd like do it. I'm a bit new to crochet, but I've already watched your video, and I think I can follow along while referring to the pattern. Thanks for the tutorial! I read your description, and I like your style. I wish you all the best in life.
When I saw a picture of this shawl I thought "I can't do this" 😣 I decided to watch the video to at least check it out and OMG I CAN DO THIS! The stitches are familiar to me and the shawl is so gorgeous I saved the video! Your way of showing how to do it is so clear that I bet almost anyone can make this brilliant creation of yours with the help of your Mom. I sat here in awe at each row saying to myself "I can do this!!!" Thank you! You are an amazing yarn artist! 😃
Thank you very much for this product. Very beautiful shawl I have already started to make it for my daughter to make this beautiful shawl who is also in Holland.
Gorgeous pattern and the video is so so easy to follow!!!! I was sure it'll be impossible for me to make it BUT I DID!!!! Watched the video again and again and again finally got my head around it☺️Thank you so much Keep sharing and spreading happiness!!
Hi Wilma, I love your patterns. I have only recently discovered your site, but I am on to my third project. Providing a row count with each pattern definitely helps to prevent mistakes. Thank-you for taking the time to make the pattern so easy to understand and follow. I have subscribed to your site from Australia.
I just want you to know that I think you are wonderful. I just checked out your website and I am hooked on your patterns. I want to make every pattern!! Thank you for your patterns and your story and your adventures. Your mom is so awesome for coming with you every step of the way.
Thank you so much for another awesome shawl ,I just love it ! Together with the written pattern it is just perfect to follow ! Stichmarkers and counting the stiches does help a lot ! So stunning, will do a second one !
Greetings from Central Ca 👋🏼had to come back to make another one of these beautiful shawls! Thank you for teaching us this incredible pattern. You are a very creative and unique designer💝
Thank you for sharing this amazing pattern 🎉🥰🙏💕 i've just finished this video part and i cant wait for the result 🤩 but reeeaalyyy its look gorgeus from now 😻 much lovee ❤❤❤
I love this pattern. I am a relative beginner to crochet, certainly to any intricate mixing of stitches and having to count them!! But although I found it hard to start with, and had to redo most of my rows twice because they didn't add up, I stuck with it and finished it! I learned a lot about the process as I went along and feel more confident as a result. Now I want to make another one in a softer yarn (I used Aran wool which is lovely stuff but Just Not Right for this pattern)!
I wish she would have shown us her shawl and placement of the stitches after she explained each row pattern. Not knowing for sure where i was supposed to be in any given time throughout the tutorial. And definitely a stitch count for every row. I’m pretty sure I need to start all over with just the written pattern. I’m trying to make this for my guys mom for Christmas. I love the look of this shawl, it’s SO SO BEAUTIFUL!
Love the details in this shawl. Didnt take me long to figure out the row 12 lol. Almost done with mine❤ planning to make more for gifts😁 thank you for all you do.
This is so pretty. I just wish at the beginning of each tutorial you would give a little more detail on the yarns used, like yarn size, how many skeins/yards/grams. I like to know if I have enough yarn to begin a project, before I get started. Great, clear tutorial though, thanks for your time!
Wilma, you are the best ever dear :) thank you so much for all the amazing tutorial you did it, I am following you and tried a lot of your wonderful shawls, and i just start to do this shawl as a Christmas gift to my friend. THANKS!!!!
I absolutely love this shawl. I'm going to try and make it a 4-panel shawl, wish me luck. Thanks for being so talented and sharing your beautiful work!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have been working on this shawl for 3 years, I'm making it as a gift so I unfortunately only have motivation to work on it leading up to Christmas. Here's hoping this is the year I finish it!
At laaaast….i think i FINALLY have got the hang of it now and hopefully i will succeed finishing it, but oh boy, the beginning has been a climb up a steep hill, and i had to stop and begin from scratch again and again and again, i was convinced i would need to give up 👁👄👁 But i’m not a quitter 😎👍🏻 I have bought patterns to 3 of your beautiful shawls and Ana Lucia is one of them, also i have bought some skeins of cake yarn in the most beautiful color-mixes to make the shawls 🌈❤️💛🧡💜💙💚🤍🖤🤎
Hi Wilma. I truly love this shawl! Could you help? I am confused on row 12, where you make the 7 dc, followed by a single crochet in the next chamber. You did not show how to do the middle, bottom of the shawl! I tried looking at pattern but it really doesn’t say? Could you help please? Thank you.
I have just downloaded the pattern and looking at your video as well I am managing to follow the pattern. I am using Drops delight yarn which is looking very pretty. Some of the stitches are new to me but with your great tutorial I am managing to keep up and it's looking beautiful. Thank you for taking the time and effort to show us how to make this beautiful shawl. From one very happy customer from Berkshire England.
Hi Wilma.... I really enjoy watching your video tutorials. Thanks for the beautiful shawl pattern. I enjoyed making one and it has turned out very well. I didn't have finguring yarn so used worsted weight. Thanks again for all lovely patterns
Lovely Pattern and Message! I Love that you are dedicating a special series to something that is important to you and also spreads awareness, all by making beautiful pieces of clothing. Congrats on all your success and Thank You for sharing your story with us and your beautiful patterns and spirit. Best wishes!
Hi Wilma, thank you for your clear and quick explaining. I love the pattern and my shawl came out perfect! Just in time for my vacation! I made it all black but I have some yarns in stock that would be perfect for this pattern. So I definitely will make another one. Again thanks!🙏🏼🙏🏼 Of dankjewel natuurlijk😉

Hello Wilma ~ I've made 4 of these gorgeous shawls already and my friends love them! I accidentally purchased 2 written patterns and I'm happy to support you for sharing this lovely design. It really does help to have it along with the video even though you are a very good teacher. Have you ever considered adapting it for a rectangular shawl? I'll buy 3 patterns if you do :-) I might give it a try but I'm doubtful. Thanks! Jeanne
Hi guys, I just found out there is a little edit error in this video on row 12, when making the corner starting at 14:25. Somehow I accidentally copied the part that says '1 bpsc in 4th dc, ch 2'. Please ignore the copied part (between 14:37 - 14:44).

I'm a bit new to crochet, but I've already watched your video, and I think I can follow along while referring to the pattern. Thanks for the tutorial!
I read your description, and I like your style. I wish you all the best in life.
Thank you so much dear Betty 💕
This is what I've been looking for thank you so much
Wow! Such a graceful and elegant piece.
Came out great 👍
Thank you very much for this product. Very beautiful shawl
I have already started to make it for my daughter to make this beautiful shawl who is also in Holland.
Gorgeous pattern and the video is so so easy to follow!!!! I was sure it'll be impossible for me to make it BUT I DID!!!! Watched the video again and again and again finally got my head around it☺️Thank you so much
Keep sharing and spreading happiness!!
Thank you so much for your lovely words, I really appreciate it! 💗
How pretty! Thanks for making and sharing this!
Thanks so much! :D
I just want you to know that I think you are wonderful. I just checked out your website and I am hooked on your patterns. I want to make every pattern!! Thank you for your patterns and your story and your adventures. Your mom is so awesome for coming with you every step of the way.

When I saw this morning that sawl I love it and I start it with a cake yarn in black and purple colour. Thanks for tutorials! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
This is so beautiful!!!!...thank you for this tutorial....
That's amazing, well done! 💗
Almost done with mine! Thank you!
Love the details in this shawl. Didnt take me long to figure out the row 12 lol. Almost done with mine❤ planning to make more for gifts😁 thank you for all you do.
So happy to hear 🥰
This is so pretty. I just wish at the beginning of each tutorial you would give a little more detail on the yarns used, like yarn size, how many skeins/yards/grams. I like to know if I have enough yarn to begin a project, before I get started. Great, clear tutorial though, thanks for your time!
Beautiful shawl. On my list to make ❤🤗

Such a gorgeous shawl💖
gourgeous!!! I love it!!!
I have been working on this shawl for 3 years, I'm making it as a gift so I unfortunately only have motivation to work on it leading up to Christmas. Here's hoping this is the year I finish it!
Beautiful....so romantic and very special!!!!
Yayyyy, well done! Proud of you 😁💪 Thank you so much for purchasing my patterns, really appreciate your support!
Schitterend Wilma! Ik heb t bijna af!
This is gorgeous! I have been working on it with you today! Thank you so much!
Thanks so much!
Hi Wilma. I truly love this shawl! Could you help? I am confused on row 12, where you make the 7 dc, followed by a single crochet in the next chamber. You did not show how to do the middle, bottom of the shawl! I tried looking at pattern but it really doesn’t say? Could you help please? Thank you.
sooo beautiful...Thank you for sharing your generosity....

That’s very lovely.
Thanks! Jeanne
Thank you so much for the pattern and the video! I have just finish mine and its absolutely
beautiful!
