- From cars that talk to each, to autonomous scooters and bicycles. People like Elon Musk, and forward thinking cities, have already started putting into motion the building blocks for the new self driving city of the future.
This mini documentary takes a look at the different ways the self driving city is being built, and tries to predict what this futuristic city could look like.
How will self driving cities change the way our homes are designed, will there still be gas stations, street parking, and will our self driving Tesla cars be able to go and get a car wash by themselves.

Other topics covered include:
• Steve Wozniak and the Boring Company
• How the next gen of Tesla cars could be turned into our own personal assistants - picking up groceries at a drive through (such as Amazon Fresh)
• How will cities change, and build new roads to integrate self driving vehicles
• How cities such as Detroit have already started building lanes for self driving cars

It’s fun and games until your car runs away
Well, treat her with respect. Tell her that you care.
And the moment it sees a cop, you better start praying it doesn't run away/kill him.
Or runs you over 😂😂

"GET THE FUCK BACK HERE!!!"
That To-do list though:
1. Lunch a rocket;
2. Start a new company;
3. Prank Bezos; :)
It's a great to do list.
What do have a rocket to do with a lunch?
prank Bezos should be on everyone's to do list
Why this channel is so damn underrated?

Elon is an amazing human being
I’m very happy I’m a 47 year old man. Married for 13 years (almost 14) and I would love to see my kids see this. My kids are very happy kid amazing kids but I also want them to be like Elon musk. I want them to change the world and show there ideas to the world.
Don't keep that much burden on them. Elon is Elon because of his parents professional background. To achieve such scientific greatness one lifetime is not enough one should have parents with very sound academic and tech background.

Don't let your kids go to public school, or all desire for achievement will be sucked out of them.
amazing editing. always love your video.
This is like How its Made but for the future....
As a delivery driver this is fanciful at best..there are so many obstacles and pitfalls! Mostly being human. No house, apt complex, building, or complex is the same. This requires communication and often experience. Could it happen in 15-20 years possibly but with bad customer satisfaction
I can’t wait. Theses sound so cool
I love innovation, yet at the same time this video keeps bringing me back to Wall-E.
Great video. Exciting things to come
I love ur channel pls upload more frequently ✌️
Keep up the good work, dear sir....
It's informative and also insightful for future prediction, sir....

These self driving Bicycles are pretty cool
Never seen one before
haha the robobike and roboscooter are so cute lol
Why is the wheel in the middle in the beginning
It will be interesting to see how Robotaxis develops over time
What soundtrack do you use for the venture city into?
Everything that people don't like will be converted into something better
Incredibly inspiring!
The cars will act as battery storage for the house, charged by solar
Difficult unless one is home during the sunny hours.
Great video!
Cool video the future looks a lot of fun and I hope this happens soon
what's the music at the beginning of the video?
I hope that someday, there will be a car with no steering wheel, no accelerator and no brake pedal. I would like to have a self driving car someday, so that I can sleep, text and talk on my phone, be at my destination and go to bar to have a couple drinks and not have to worry about drunk driving, since the self driving car will be my designated driver and drive me home.
Hmm the idea that you could have recharge pads for cars is pretty smart. I find that as technology progresses, more and more ideas are generated, until you have intelligent functionality in all areas. Then new generations of children are born, and the ones who grow into scientists and engineers just apply their newer, fresher perspectives on the way things are made, and innovation just never ceases. But with the invention of the Internet, anyone can learn anything; the sharing of knowledge is breeding a global wave of fast learning people young and old.

Lmao imagine being so lazy that you need your phone to go charge itself
@Within you're the type of person who complains that he has to go to a toilet.
@ZINDAO boi, I wassnt rude all I said was that he was that type of person you immediatly assuming that it was meant in a rude way just says that you're a negative person. And yes if we don't do menial tasks it would save time that is really obvious I'm not stupid but you definetly are, if anyhing you should be glad that I took time out of my day to write to an idiot like you. So learn what a joke is and go back to doing menial tasks instead of being stupid on the internet. "Never argue with stupid people" - some dude on the internet
Its called laziness productiveness imagine how much time you waste cleaning every year with that time you could make so much money that's why roombas and dishwashers make so much sense
@Within I love futurism and all these technologies, but I am increasingly worried: what CAN you accomplish in your life? If everything important is automatized, then we are truly like animals in a zoo. I'm not an engineer nor a physicist to participate in the technological progress. I can't even think of any good, realistic sci-fi novel anymore. A book needs human(-like) heroes and I just don't see what humans can do anymore (except the so common "tear it all down and go back to the old days" approach which I hate). I guess Elon Musk's Neuralink really is the only option for humans to go ahead. I just don't know how I'm going to earn enough money to buy it :D
@Within Cashier might not be fulfilled by the job itself, but the effort to earn the money to keep your home and family going makes having a home and having a family more of an achievement, something that will make you proud and drive you forward. In a world where majority of population has to live off the universal income, because we just can't do anything more effectively than machines, what do you aspire to? Learning a new language? Why, you can do that with Neuralink in a minute. Hitting a gym? Why, we will all probably be gene modified so that we don't lose muscle (based on a recent experiment with "mighty mice"). Learning history? For what? All the ways it expands your thinking are irrelevant, because you are not in a position of decisionmaking. I fear we might end up like the people in Wall-E or in 1984. Just sit back, consume, and if you do not overthink stuff, you might not commit suicide out of despair.
Nice business
3:38 😲
there are going to be so many un-employable people in the future
Exactly. Driverless vehicles are only one way we dis-invent human labor. We need to be starting up the Universal Basic Income or coming up with a better idea.
Not to worry with the elimination of jobs comes more incentive to not go into those jobs in the future besides everything takes a while to evolve in this age everyone should be aspiring to get into some tech part of their job im studying medicine and you can bet imma try all the robotic applications i can lest some robot take my place
Your car will drive itself
Your car will wash itself
Your car will recharge itself
In a world where everything is autonomous, nothing is yours.
Hey Howard. I hope you made it here to see this.
I'm here 3rd.
Wow my dream of self driving car is true
Johnny cabs!
Why does it have a steering wheel??
Implying that everything has to be electronics. That implies the atmosphere can do the charging instead of infrastructure grid
Nobody could foresee that with the spread of the -internet- computer the use of paper kept increasing. People predicted that w/ better manufacturing & technology we'd be working less and less, while instead we chose to produce more and more.
Super fascinating to think about the ways things could go with uncertain human nature and changing incentives & supplies. Interesting case of chaos theory applied to society.
Paper use has plummeted. It did not at first until we created portable screens and tired of going outside to look for the newspaper.
@@bobwallace9753 Thanks for the clarification. I think the prediction was also about computers, not the internet.
@@stefan_popp I've lived through the computer revolution. Starting with carrying boxes of cards into which I punched holes to the campus computer center and going back a couple of days later to get the finished calculation.
When we first put desktops in my business we increased our use of paper. But that started decreasing as we got better software that allowed easy editing on screen and as better backup systems were developed that meant we didn't need to store hard copy backups.
The internet and cloud storage is yet another development that has cut paper use. I hardly ever buy paper any longer. I scribble notes on junk mail envelops. Anything of value gets inputted. I can and do fly around the world and have access to all my files as long as there's a wifi connection. And other than trekking through mountains there's hardly a place without wifi.
And Elon is about to change that with low orbit satellite ISP.
I have a laser printer sitting nearby that gets turned on only a couple times per year. I do sometimes print out a research paper or dense article that I want to mark up. That's about it.
Welcome to jonny cab...total recall lol
Total recall and then you never wake up again!
Last thing I want in my Tesla is a drunk guy that throws up all over my seats
then you don't
Easy. Don't make your Tesla available for robo taxi work. Or limit use to only those you trust.
Other people will be willing to deal with cleaning and they will charge the cost back to the last person who used the vehicle. The company will have that person's credit card in their account.
I’m picky, too. 😉
These days it's becoming impossible to make a tech video with out mentioning Elon musk 💖
the most important reason we're doing what we're doing is for fun, When Ai replaces everything we will have no reason to live anymore
so they should start working to make some restrictions on what can be automated
just a personal opinion

Explains the global changes taking place since 2020. A reduced human population is required to make all of this functional.
Another purpose of the Boring Company is utility tunnels for removing trash by robot, home deliveries, running cables, and providing cool air into homes so less need for AC.
A good engineer can provide cool houses for a big part of the year

would of been nice to see a COVID 1984 context in that scenario ...
COVID 19 (SARS-CoV-2) is a coronavirus. The majority of coronaviruses of the last 200 years have disappeared in less than 18 months, without vaccine, without social distancing, and without mask and hand washing. Some are still active and come back every year. These are equivalent to the flu: HCoV-229E, HCoV-OC43, HCoV-NL63, and HCoV-HKU1. The virus, which first appeared in China, has almost disappeared in that country while no vaccine is yet available. Governments have overreacted, but no one can explain why.
@@Wirmish i still believe they want to kill most of us using that fake reason and fear
which mean that Elon Musk future will not exist
@@gorgeplo I believe they need to reduce the human population for this to work. What will they do with so many unemployed people.
Little need for much infrastructure change to existing cities, just repurpose underused parking for drop off/pickup / waiting areas.
And use some existing parking spaces for ramps to enter and exit underground tunnels.
Really good presentation. But I think you've over-assumed individual vehicle ownership. The cost of riding in a robotaxi is likely to be so low, the service so good, and the hassle level minimized that most people are likely to cease owning cars and spend than money on other things that bring more utility. Debt reduction, more meals out, upgraded vacations, or earlier retirement.
The number of cars on our roads could drop by 5x, assuming efficient dispatching as well as (actual) ridesharing and flexible use times driven by price.
Make the cost per mile highest during peak hours and offer significant discounts for indicating that you are willing to ride along with other passengers instead of having an entire car to yourself. Get 'butts in seats' averages during peaks up 3x and the number of needed cars drops by 3. People who do need to use a robotaxi but aren't locked into a fixed time schedule may shift their use to off peak times in order to travel at a lower cost.
Higher car usage (extra butts in seats and hours in service) means more return on capex, allowing rate reduction which will drive more people away from car ownership.
But there is a study that says 92% percent of people want a personal car, and personally I would still like to drive in the future, presumably with high-tech assists
@@defintity_9951 Very few people have the ability to look forward into time and understand how their preferences might change if a new solution was available. What people say they want now isn't useful because the alternative is not yet at hand.
Ask yourself why you want to drive. Do you enjoy having to pay constant attention in traffic to make sure you do your best to avoid a crash? Might you rather watch the scenery than the pavement in front of you or rather watch a video or play a game than look at the pavement when the scenery isn't interesting?
I used to enjoy driving because a lot of the roads I drove were narrow, winding roads largely free of other traffic. I enjoyed driving sports cars efficiently through the curves. But most of those roads are now straightened or clogged with traffic or monitored with radar. If I want to drive like I used to I'd need to go to a road track.
The other reason I enjoyed driving was the ability to go wherever I wanted whenever I wanted but I would be able to do that with robotaxis, for less money.
Some people argue that they want to own a car so that they can leave their gym bag, golf clubs, whatever inside. How many people do you think will pay $500/month for that convenience?
What do you think you'd lose if you were to let a computer drive you wherever you wanted to go?
I totally agree with you on your end, I do definitely want either a fully autonomous or assisted mode when I want to relax or there’s traffic (presumably there won’t be as much) however, let’s just say I get to a good driving road. I would still want to drive there. Who knows, because some performance automakers including Tesla says that there going to make an Augmented reality mode that enhances reaction time and safety as well as adding mini games for the race track. To be honest I just enjoy the feeling of driving (when there’s no traffic) and appreciating the engineering that goes behind the car.
@@defintity_9951 I understand the enjoyment of driving a well engineered car close to its limits. As I said earlier, I think, I used to drive sports cars. And part of the reason I live where I do is because it's on a world class great road to drive. Two lanes, very curvy road in the mountains with great scenery. When I first moved here I drove a RX-7 which was a real road rocket on this type drive.
But let's think ahead to a new car one might be able to purchase in 2040. Will there be any cars with steering wheels? I can see us reaching the point at which possibly none of the current car manufacturers other than Tesla may exist. GM might if they rapidly develop Cruise. But the other FSD companies may be businesses like Waymo who have created FSD and then purchased Ford or another legacy company as their robotaxi supplier. Or maybe they buy a Rivian or other EV startup in order to bypass the problem of disposing of the ICEC anchor holding back Ford and others.
I expect robotaxis to dominate personal transportation. Will there be "boutique" manufacturers who sell cars with steering wheels? And how much of a premium might one have to pay to buy a really low volume vehicle?
Then, what would the driving experience be if any new car you might buy that had a steering wheel also had regulation required software that prevented you from skidding if you get into a curve at too high a speed? The enjoyment for me was to see how quickly I could get through a curve without breaking traction. Skidding was losing. If the car prevents traction loss then what are you able to do as a driver other than waste energy accelerating too rapidly out of a curve and into the next one where the car will act to overcome your foolishness?
There was a time when people used to get a thrill by jumping on their horse and riding full out across the countryside. Now the roads are paved and the land fenced. Can't do that sort of riding any longer except in a few set aside places. The same might become true for "enjoyable" driving.
Well, only time will tell. But, I’m pretty sure there will still be high end or sporty cars for sale, even today and so as in the past it was rare and is still rare to find those types of cars. As for the statement about horses, there’s still a huge market for racing them.
O.k...but what about traffic hackers. They will be ' joy riding'.
Fully auto taxi service looks like an opportunity for car theft to me. A hacker shuts down the gps, loads it up and hauls it to a chop shop.
see: Rich Rebuilds channel on UA-cam. ;)
iow, people are already kinda doing that.

America is great
so scary
will we be able to live or will we be prisoner of this all doing all knowing A.I. grid ?
Just read the Average driver drives 30 miles per day. That’s a lot for me.
Will the insurance companies cover your taxi ?
Tesla already has an insurance company. And since they have hard data on how much safer their cars are they offer very reasonable premiums.
Alien 👽
The most advanced future phone will work with no battery, so there will be no reason for charging. But before that happen, the phone will not walk to charger,c,, but will fly to battery charger.
Wozniak's disapproval of FSD is deeply ironic. The was a time when people thought Woznicak and Jobs were nuts for trying to sell a computer they built in their 'garage'. "It'll never work!"
Whatever their age, when people stop learning - or, trying to keep up - they lose their sense of wonder and their brains turn into mush. ;)

wireless charging pads for cars is way to inefficient placing unnecessary loads to the grid
Actually there are super efficient wireless charging systems already proven out. I think it's Oak Ridge National Labs that has demonstrated a wireless charger that's as efficient as a directly plugged cable or only slightly less efficient.
