Based on some comment feedback, it sounds like CH is looking to manufacture some additional, and needed accessories, like sacrificial lenses etc., which would be amazing, or even the ability to update tubes, as the housing and features are legit as a base to build on. Appears to be a great entry into the NV world.

I mean, you had a NVT-4 tube before! :D Your ECHO+/4G is way better now. But the Jerry is definitely a good unit for the money. But if you have the budget, definitely go for the 14 with ECHO/4G tubes.. What is your FOM? 2300 right? That's way better than 1300 FOM with technology from 1996 (XD-4/NVT-4) Nice to see your here buddy :)

Can't go wrong with a mil spec PVS-14. That being said, the J-14 is a great option for those that are willing to sacrifice some performance for cost-savings.

Great vid! So how would the Jerry 31's/14's compare to lowest performing PVS-14's or other lower end mono/binos? I think that would make for a great comparison video seeing as how someone shopping at this price point would be looking for the best performance he can get at this price point. I wish I never had the opportunity to look through an L3 "Super Gain" tube because it spoiled me, making it hard to give more budget friendly tubes fair judgement.
What does the mfL compare to in terms of light available to the device in a real world scenario? Would 1.00mfL be equivalent to a full moon, and 0.01 be pitch black to the naked eye/ no moon + clouds?
@@d4ngru5h83 It doesn't really equate very well because foot-Lamberts is a measurement of the brightness of a surface per square metre. But, as a frame of reference, a movie screen in a dark movie theatre typically outputs about 16 foot Lamberts, so 1mfL is actually quite a bit darker than that by about 5 orders of magnitude.

Which only really does anything when you can see well enough with your own eyes anyway😅, however with a seperate ir torch, allows you to see surprisingly clear out to 200-300m. It's a pulsar challenger gen1 btw, incase you happen to have one lying around and fancy doing a video comparing it😂. I've heard of pulsar selling the same device body with gen 2 and 3 tubes as well.
@@d4ngru5h83 if you every want to go gen 2/3, I highly advice to buy a pvs-14. The mounting options are great, parts are readily available and you can use them with all sorts of tubes. Not only that, 3rd party accessories also just about always fit milspec 14's. The 14 is an all-in-one mono.
@@d4ngru5h83 We do not really deal in Gen-1 devices but these will see much better than any Gen-1 due to Gen2 and higher tubes having actual micro channel plates which significantly boosts intensification. What we can say is the image will be a lot better without illumination. With illumination, even low spec Gen2s will blow gen1s out of the water. The Jerry-14 will be a substantial upgrade as its a modestly specced gen2+ tube.

You can, but they will need to be collimated for that setup as poor collimation can lead to offaxis images which are especially noticeable in panoramic setups.

The JerryC uses its own mounts for any PVS-14 style lens, to be honest, we prefer the standard mount it comes with as it allows for you to place the COTI in whichever orientation you wish.
my question is does this use 16mm or 18mm tubes for part commonality sake and replacement? also idk but i want autogating i wonder if i can get one installed instead or maybe it doesent matter and iom just being picky ?
It honestly does not matter for most users. I would say look at the autogating section of the video versus just reading online. AG is great, but NNVTs do fine with their BSP. If your goal is protecting the tubes against light damage (which is the goal of most consumer users), the NNVT's BSP is more effective. If your goal is contrast and resolution then autogating will have the advantage, especially moving up to a Photonis tube.

Pretty impressive. One thing about these products is I feel people tend to upsell themselves based on what gives the most value. Maybe the most bang for buck is a more expensive unit. Sometimes it doesn't make sense to get something slightly cheaper, more in one's price range, when a better value unit costs $500 or $1000 more. These are important factors to consider, but ultimately, you've gotta make peace with getting the best device for your budget, rather than paying more in total. The best night vison is the one you can have in your hands. Does nothing if you don't actually buy it.
Just something to think about, for the standard pvs14's there is an adjustable aperature to limit the light in, it helps get the best out of the tube, can you get one for the jerry14? what protection is there on the jerry 14 to protect the tube from too much light? thanks looks like a cool product but for $2k I am still leaning to a anpvs14 simple for the more complete parts and accessories . @@blackjack117200 yes, the tubes are standardized, you'll see two models, one is with the pigtail connector for gain control, the other is without. Just make sure you get the one you want. I believe a non pigtail one will work in a housing that has gain control, but not the other way around.
There are some products that offer both at the same time like overlays. I’m not referring to the famous US Army IVAS googles but there are some monoculars that are almost close to it.

Isn't the J-arm being plastic a good thing? If anything breaks because you fall or have some weird force applied to your helmet it'll be that, rather than fucking up your mounting system itself or your nods.
Most modern mounts will have breakaway features nowadays. This removes the need for a breakable J-arm without sacrificing the rigidity of the mount and the positioning in front of the users eye.
There is straight up a 200$ night vision either scope or nod ... I don't remember right now but it's an airsoft night viz and it works better then a 2,000 dollar nod set up....... Just saying if it works and is effective does it matter if it for airsoft??
There's a huge gap in performance with digital versus analog night vision. The digital may look okay but there's likely a faint IR light shining off the front of it to give it enough light to amplify.
Well I'm very much the person who won't skimp on body armor but optics can be a nightmare to pick from so having a decent one that can take some rough and tumble is hard to do.... Especially if their like 4,000 -6,000 personally I couldn't replace that kind of cost if it broke or didn't work! So I am looking for something just honestly not sure what to choose you know

Lighter means more plastic. More plastic, the cheaper for manufacturer to produce and then raise price because an "improvement" has been made. Night vision has always been out of sight for the common guy to afford. When only one person in a group has it then that limits night fights as a group and can only be used for pathfinding or spotting for one guy. Hunting hogs are the only other reason to have one. Then you need to have a big appetite or barbeque per each hog. It would take you several years to get back your money's worth through hunting. Three thousand dollars is insane to spend for the device. There are all kinds of night fighting techniques that can be relied on just as concretely. I have such a device and know how to use green lasers as well, which I also have. But nothing beats doing it the old fashioned way, after all, the devices are sensitive and may not be relied on when you need it most. I would not use one without a second one on hand. I am a Nam Era homeless disabled Marine and learned a lot about night in the Corps. If you are homeless, keep your stuff stashed where you can refer to it but never be without it somewhere.

I prefer SIONYX OPSIN, now I do like the thermal aspect.
Sionyx makes good stuff but digital is nowhere near as good as analog

Night vision has always been out of sight for the common guy to afford. When only one person in a group has it then that limits night fights as a group and can only be used for pathfinding or spotting for one guy. Hunting hogs are the only other reason to have one. Then you need to have a big appetite or barbeque per each hog. It would take you several years to get back your money's worth through hunting. Three thousand dollars is insane to spend for the device. There are all kinds of night fighting techniques that can be relied on just as concretely. I have such a device and know how to use green lasers as well, which I also have. But nothing beats doing it the old fashioned way, after all, the devices are sensitive and may not be relied on when you need it most. I would not use one without a second one on hand. I am a Nam Era homeless disabled Marine and learned a lot about night in the Corps. If you are homeless, keep your stuff stashed where you can refer to it but never be without it somewhere.
