    Doug, I realize this is an old video, and came here due to a newer video about FTP on the Amiga. I am going to set up FTP access between my A1200 and my Synology NAS, and have noted some stuff I need. I got a hold of a SMC 8041TX V.2 PCMCIA LAN card that according to a lot of googling should work with the Amiga... Well besides this, do you still recommend the Roadshow TCP/IP stack? Second, it seems iBrowse 2.5.3 is available now for purchase, and it supports AmiSSL V4, so do you think it should be easier now to install, or still needed to start with V1.1, then 2.2, then 3.6 and so on, of AmiSSL to avoid issues getting it to work properly? Best regards, Anders.

      Roadshow is still the way to go That's the best stack for the Amiga in my humble opinion. AmiSSL now installs normally starting with versions from 2020 on - it was only some versions in 2019 I had issues with.
      That SMC card should work if it is a 16 bit with no gold edge connector.

      @@10MARC Thanks. :) And yes it is a 16 bit card.

      @@10MARC Just rewatched some of the video, as I was about to set it up on my A1200. No luck so far though. I have gotten an SMC8041TX 16 bit PCMCIA card that is sold as working with A1200 using the cnet.device driver, roadshow etc. I purchased Roadshow, and installed this, and following your guide to copy the cnet file from storage:NetInterfaces to Devs:NetInterfaces . I tried also to set fixed IP or leave it at dhcp. In Roadshow Documentation it says you can use GetNetStatus to see if it detects and configured the card, and well it does not. Says nothing is there.... Well another issue is that I cannot boot with the PCMCIA card in the slot. I can boot with my PCMCIA to CF adapter (with CF card in) fine, but if I try to boot with LAN card in, then it detects nothing but DF0: and thus comes to a halt at the Insert disk screen. On this CF card I run OS 3.1 I think (40.42) and 3.1.4 ROMS. I also tried to install newest AmiSSL 4.7 which may be ok (think it complained on the 68020 file it could not find when copying files..) and FTPMount, which I did not figure out how to get configured / shown on WB screen as a drive. But that is a headache for later... First I just need to find out how I get the LAN card and Roadshow working. The cnet file from Storage:NetInterfaces , that is the cnet.device driver? Though it is not called .device at the end. If I went to the S: folder and tried to run (from CLI) the Network-Startup that Roadshow creates, then it does complain about cnet.device . Maybe it is because it is not supposed to be run like that from there, or because there is something with the cnet / cnet.device . Dough, would you have any pointers here on what to do or try? Did google along the way, and looked at some of the documentation, but there is so much, and I am not sure where it went wrong / so where to look. Just gonna try with my 3.1.4 CF card from Amigastore.eu and see if that makes a difference. Edited: Nope installed roadshow and copied cnet from storage to Devs:NetInterfaces and rebooted. Still same issue, but also same issue in that Amiga will not boot from harddrive (Detects nothing except DF0) with the LAN card inserted.

      Remember PCMCIA does not work with over 4 MB of RAM unless it is 32 bit RAM on an accelerator.

    Hmmm, my A4000 (slated to ship off for repairs soon) has an original X-Surf and a registered copy of Miami Deluxe. May try Roadshow when I get it back. Great series!

    Hello, I bought the Rapidroad USB adapter for an A1200. Now I have a few questions about it, as there is very little available on the internet.
    I realized that USB sticks can be connected without any problems. I also connected an inactive USB hub that works without any problems. And I connected a CDROM, which also works very well. But I think, since I'm a tinkerer, that even more can be realized.
    Is it possible that you can use a connected webcam as a microphone, for example? At least the microphone is recognized by the software, but I'm probably missing a driver and / or the software.
    Now I heard in this video that you can also use USB networking cards, just no WiFi?
    I would also like to know what the difference is?
    At least I can't find anything on the Internet except for a WiFi dongle.
    Oh one more thing: My Amiga is an A1200 with a 30MHz T-card and 32 MB Ram and an Indivison MK2. CDRom is on the AT bus and an ATA on cf card (8 GB).
    I hope not to annoy you with my questions, but I cannot find these questions or answers on the internet.
    Frank.....
    Thank you and greetings from Cologne

      In theory there is a driver for some webcams, but they are very limited and very slow. I don't think the microphone works. Networking cards should work, but I honestly have never had one act correctly with a RapidRoad. I have an old, slow Thylacine USB card that I have had USB networking on, but I have tried five older USB Ethernet that should work, but do not. I hope you have better luck finding a USB Ethernet that works, Look for an older 10BaseT D-Link - People have had OK luck with those.
      Nobody has a USB WiFi driver that works. I don't know why.
      The RapidRoad is notorious for destroying itself with the slightest shock of static. My friends and I have determined it is a bad idea to hot swap any device direct on the RapidRoad. If you plug a USB hub into it, you should be OK hotswapping on the hub.
      I have an episode all about USB on the Amiga that I think you will find interesting. It is from the middle of 2020

    Hello Doug. What is the latest version of AmiSSL you managed to get to work on Ibrowse 2.4?
    I do not have any plans to upgrade to 2.5 currently and with AmiSSL 3.6 https does not wor as I can see.

    • @10MARC
      @10MARC  3 роки тому

      It seems like 3.6 worked with iBrowse 2.4... I might have some older versions if you need to try some. I had some issues with that version of AmiSSL where I had to install some old versions first and then upgrade them. I have not had that issue with newer versions.

    How do you configure your wireless card? Thats interesting for me :)

    • @10MARC
      @10MARC  6 років тому

      I use the Prism drivers from Aminet. The newest version actually supports WPA encryption to an extent, but my card does not. (WEP only) - so I set up a second router just for my Amiga 1200 that distributes a second wireless signal with WEP encryption. Roadshow handles the TCP/IP, and the Prism driver handles the card. If you want specifics, I can link to all the goodies I use.
