      HI Black Tesla! Does Data Sharing waste a lot of battery to the point where I might be extremely low just driving around town on a normal day or does it keep the battery at what it would be without it?

    • @BlackTesla

      Hey data sharing has no material impact on battery/range it just send data over LTE or WiFi depending on the amount.

    There are thieves that break in even when sentry mode is triggered.
    So I want the car to drive itself as soon as the window is broken. And other Teslas nearby should block the thieves car or drive away, since they do break in multiple cars at a time.

    Another great video, I didn't even realize the Marvel Tony Stark connection.

    My Model S with AP2 (prior to October 2017, I believe) cannot save files to USB for the newly available Sentry Mode in 2019.12.1.1, but Tesla claims they have the videos with 'data sharing'. Not sure how we would access those. A phone call maybe.

    Nice review. I would have liked to hear more on the USB and which format method needs to be used. Eg: FAT32? Thank you.

    • @BlackTesla
      @BlackTesla  5 років тому +2

      Thanks for the comment. USB needs to be fat32 formatted, and at least 32Gig but recommended 128Gig. Sentry Mode being active may consume up to ~18gigs in a day depending on events as events are captured from the front and 2 side cameras only. Hope that helps!

    The 2020 Model S sentry mode has a updated graphic of the electronic HAL eye...(personally prefer the older original version). Love for the car to give a verbal warning when it turns on. Love to see more info on the Horn activated recording feature and dashcam feature.

      I have a 2017 S 75D with FSD and when the FSD update came available last week; I jumped on it (the update was free with my car). It took Tesla several weeks to get the “parts” in, but they completed the update last week. At the same time, I bought the infotainment package upgrade ($2500) that gave me sentry recording in the car as well as the dash cam recording. It works very well. With that upgrade, I got the enhanced entertainment that included things like - now I can watch videos, Hulu, Netflix, karaoke and enhanced the surround sound.
      The downside to the upgrade was they did not do the mapping updates while I was at the dealership. I had to do that afterwards, and this needs to be done before the navigate on autopilot or the stop sign/stop light recognition will work. Then after the update was done, it took several hours for that update to be processed before it was active. The other thing that happened is my Tesla app Will not unlock my car now. It says it is unlocking, but it does not. It will lock the car from the app, but not unlock. Having to go back in for them to fix that.
      Good luck with your updates/upgrades.

    Where I live we have assigned parking and the neighbor in spot next to me has this mode enabled. Every time I walk between our cars that red dot is on the screen. I am not touching or closer to the Tesla than mine. I come and go at late hours so he must be getting alerts and video of me every time I park and exit my vehicle. Honestly it's a little intrusive in my opinion. I really don't need a neighbor (and tesla if data share is enabled) spying on my coming and going. I am not a threat, not touching his car. I am merely parking in my assigned area that is next to his. I am a car person myself so I make sure I dont bump cars. I feel like I am being watched like a child. I am going to start waving at 1 am when I see it is recording. Maybe say hello.

    Missing interface with a choice of on-line streaming services. This is when data sharing is not allowed and the memory stick can be taken from the USB-slot.

    Not sure if you were ever able to find out anything from the Tesla team regarding the issue...I have a 2017 Model S 90D and we get the same thing. Small files on our thumb drive, but nothing to view. I know this video is older, but it's still relevant for many of us with older models without the new hardware. Thanks in advance for any insight!

    • @BlackTesla
      @BlackTesla  Рік тому +1

      Haven't gotten a concrete answer but I can say that sentry mode functionality is really a heavy lift for older cars. The MCU's in those cars were not spec'ed for these features and it's a heavy lift. Our 2020 X is always buggy opening the viewer which often glitches and doesn't even load as expected.

      @@BlackTesla Makes sense...well, at least it still acts as a deterrent for potential thieves. Our 2017 is our first Tesla (used) just picked it up last year. My wife calls it our "Test-Luh" as were are trying out the EV space and then setting our sites on a new Plaid in the future. So far we love it (minus the out-dated hardware). It's so fun to drive and handles great and is so smooth and comfortable on long road trips. Can't beat the Super Charging Network. We cancelled our Rivian order to get this used 90D and thought we might regret it. However that couldn't be further from the truth. After seeing what Rivian is going through and the frustrations with EA chargers, I'm glad we made the choice we did. Appreciate the reply. Have a good one!

    So, I got 2 reports of a single alarm, and then a single report of 65 [sic] alarms! Didn't have a USB attached, but I sure wonder what could explain this. Are we keeping records, for Guinness??

    • @BlackTesla
      @BlackTesla  5 років тому +1

      The system will record sentry mode events in a log that is shown to owners on the screen as "events". If you don't have a usb in you simply won't have access to the footage of the events. Tesla says it stores footage in the cloud but I am unsure how to access it short of requesting it from support. 65 events sounds odd like an animal or animals were around your car!

      Thanks for the comment. However, our Model X is AP2 and got the update without Sentry Mode. Apparently, only S/X cars with AP2.5 or greater will have Sentry Mode, it's tied to the dashcam feature which is also for AP2.5 and greater. Good news is, Elon has committed to an upgrade path for those on AP2.0 that have bought Full Self-driving, so if you have that you just need to wait until they release the hardware. If you don't and are interested I'd suggest getting it now before the price increase on May 1.

    I notice your Model S and my Model X dont have the blinking red HAL light like the model 3 does. What do you think about this? I wish when sentry mode activated on my X the eye would start blinking as it makes it look like its actually recording... the fact that it just stays stationary makes the screen look like a frozen picture rather than an active deterrent. Unfortunate.

    • @BlackTesla
      @BlackTesla  5 років тому +2

      Yes the difference between the M S/X screen/mcu and the M3 screen/mcu is why it doesn't animate, not liking that. Wish it would animate and move to track where the camera senses motion.

      Barry Hadar Tesla uses ultrasonic sensors around the car to get a 360 degree view with them alone. Sonar on submarines send sound waves like whales. Ultra sonic sensors do the same, sensing sounds with a greater frequency that humans could hear. I’m not sure, but I think that they send 30,000 HZ frequencies. Humans hear between 20 HZ to 20,000 HZ. So in short you could say that they do use sonar in a way. They also have a radar under the front bumper.
