Gilgamesh is the only true recurring character in the Final Fantasy series. I mean, sure, the name Cid has been in literally every game, and Biggs and Wedge, and several other names, make common reappearances. But those are all separate characters who have the same names. Gilgamesh, on the other hand, is the exact same guy, in every single game, constantly making references and inside jokes to previous games. Which makes him so awesome, and one of the best characters in the series in general.

Maybe Gilgamesh is a metaphor/symbol of the Final Fantasy gamers who have to collect every weapon/item in each game?
one thing i think would be awesome is if, in FF XIII-2, before the fight, the arena transforms into a large bridge in an oriental setting :D

It doesn't what Final Fantasy game he's in, he's still one tough S.O.B. as an ally, as an enemy, and as a summon.
I...don't remember this at all, and I thought I played all the DLC! Oh well, I'm down for another 13-2 playthrough!
Yup. In Dissidia they reference it too, though. When they introduce Gilgamesh, he is looking at Vaan, Squall, and Zidane and he says "say, those guys look familiar..." or something like that, I don't remember specifically.
And then, Gilgamesh leaves. Bartz appears next and Zidane say that there's was a big scary guy with red hood. And Bartz don't remember him. 😂

He gotta appear in Kingdom Hearts 3 as a secret boss, here's the story. Sora, Riku or Kairi just walking at world, they see something flashing, Gilgamesh shows up, he sees there keyblade, he wants it, then fights begin!, when he's been defeated, he goes back to the rift and probably get a keyblade called a fake arthur keyblade
He could be like sephiroth and be super difficult with shit tons of health.
Chuck Norris What's difficult about Sephi isn't his shit ton of health, it's just the fact that if he lands his combo on you, you can loose up to 3/4th of your hp. Plus, his skill which leaves you with 1hp and 0mana.

oh i love it, it fits in with how he's modeled as his own japanese folklore character, his eyebrows especially remind me of an old japanese painting.
Gilgamesh is my fav ff char. I even built a Lego hero factory version of him, with a custom buster sword

that would be "Desperate Struggle" in Final Fantasy XIII. a 30 min looped version was made earlier if u search it on youtube.

The effect of instrumentation is impssible to ignore ... the flute (shakuhachi?) - a definite reminder of Naruto. Sounds very nice!
I think Final Fantasy Type-0 is enough to do that. It quite possibly explains the backstory of Gilgamesh before he encountered Exdeath.

If you're talking about in the first part of Final Fantasy XIII then last time I checked the civilians were the ones who volunteered to help fight. Snow didn't force them too, they choice to go into battle on their own free will.

yeah, yeah, we're working on it. 'cuz someone has to keep it without holes. but those two definitely don't make it easy. honestly, some of us barely walked away from MvC3. viewtiful joe were particularly dark days, too...

Names of Final Fantasy characters come from weird places. This dude's name came from this Sumerian hero king in Sumerian and Babylonian epics. Sounds cool, though.

Well, not the same PERSON so to speak, but he's got a similar backstory each time, not just a name. Though the FFV version is most certainly the one that appears in this game.

I wish people would stop with the whole NARUTO stuff. I coils sworn the midi that was original and the original clash had a better feel to it. Some of y'all insist that NARUTO influenced this song... No, it's been confirmed he's the same person. Presumably his ability to traverse the void has also given him the ability to traverse dimensions, and travel from one game to the next. He makes at least one reference to Bartz and/or The Void in each of his appearances, even flat out saying "Is that you, Bar-?" in the Japanese version FFVIII. FFXI is the only real exception to this, and that's just because it's so out of place with the rest of the series.
