You are nothing short of amazing, I love the thoroughness and detail. You cover every aspect of the record; it feels like a master class. Kudos to the maestro!
I don’t understand comments saying “this doesn’t swing”. It can’t swing like the Stones, as they aren’t playing here!! But it is a great analysis of the song and it’s construction to enable amateurs like me to play different components of it. Very interesting and I appreciate the effort put into this. Thanks!
Slide guitar demo at about 8:10 shows the B pentatonic major scale but the demonstration is played in C major at the 12th fret. That could confuse some people who do not pick up on it. :)
Mate. Point taken. However, the key is B so that the major Pentantonic in slide looks the same as C major because of the position of fingering in one form as against the fret position of the barre in the slide from. The teacher got it right, but I confess that I too looked twice. Good lesson and well researched all round I thought.
Many thanks for a great video. It’s really helping me learn this song which is my favourite Stones song. I love your Layla video as well. Another one of my favourite songs.
Great job! I feel like there is another slide part that is playing during the verses like at 2:11 of the original version. I always thought it was Keef doing the lead guitar, but now I'm not so sure. It also seems like maybe part of the solo is played with the fingers.
hey, thanks for the video. I've got a question, during the bit with the slide licks the man says it's based around the B major pentatonic which is played off the 11th fret. i'm visually impaired so I can't see the screen and I couldn't figure out how the B major pentatonic relates to the 11th fret. I couldn't figure out what a position three shape is. could anyone tell me where on the fretboard The man is playing the first few bend and releases for the slide lick. that would be awesome. Many thanks again for the video.
Very nice video! The tone and play of the main riff is great! But, altough there's a slide guitar over the entire song, it seams to me that the solo is not a slide playing. In fact, I see a lot a Keith work in there, with that "chuck berry" style begining, bends with double stops and so on.
@@CrackingtheChord This reminds me of You Got Me Rocking. The solos near the end, there's a non slide guitar, folowed by a slide one, but they sound very similar. With Stones records you keep finding this nice things after decades of listening!

What i love is how you say the sleeve notes say that Mick Taylor only played the bass on the track, but "the evidence suggests that the slide part was played by Mick Taylor". Of course at that point you provide absolutely NO evidence whatsoever to contradict the sleeves notes. Other than of course you mention that the slide part was played in standard tuning "not open G". Well now lets see, the last time i looked, Keef was more than able to play in both standard tuning....... as well as open G. You Got The Silver comes to mind. Oh my, and there be some slidin on that one. Without Mick Taylor. 😲 Go figure. On the other hand i don't believe that the "great" Mick Taylor ever got the hang of open G.

I remember the first time this song came to me on my cheap little transistor radio. I thought it was the coolest thing I ever heard. Still do.

Excellent !! Very insightful and clearly a lot of research went into this, Thanks !!
Splendid detail. More than I need, but that's a good thing! Very interesting analysis.
Excellent. That takes a lot of talent & time. Thanks for sharing both!

Outstanding work. Forensically examined. 👍
Amazing. Thanks, I've always wondered why I couldn't get the hang of this song on guitar. Now I know.
Really think this vid is brilliant. Not only learn to play the song but learn about it too. Very informative.

Love the recording history on top the lesson. Well done . ✌
thank you. keep it coming, your lessons are very good! :)
Wow, this was outstanding. If only all songs were analyzed so microscopically. I'd be a great guitar player!

It's position 3 which starts at the 11th fret.

Hi Paulo, we like all constructive criticism here! That's an interesting view and I will listen closely to the original solo again.

Sounds out of tune
The slide and solo are by Richards. Taylor is on bass and does not play guitar.
Thanks for the insights - that's very helpful.
Tune your guitar before you post a video on the internet 😂 oh and play it right too

Hmmm. Interesting! Have you tried playing the solo in Standard tuning and open G? That would tell you which it was played in.
This doesn't swing at all.......how can anyone think this is an accurate tutorial......lol.......
