Perfectly summarized - exactly the reasons why I updated my 10 to 11. Horizon lock is worth it alone - no need to deal with max lens anymore, auto boost is another great feature.

Thanks Jake! My Hero 7 got flooded diving last month off Monterey, Ca and in a pinch, I picked up the Hero 10 to complete the dive ops, then the Hero 11 hits the streets two weeks later. After watching your video, it puts my mind to rest that I don't really need to retool to the Hero 11 at this point and keep using the Hero 10. Cheers, Shipwreck Bob

Great review Jake 👏I usually skip a model but this year i went ahead and got the GoPro 11, upgrading from a GoPro 10. Pretty pleased with it so far and the GoPro 10 still makes a great second camera to have with me.

Great review Jake! Definitely appreciate the Hero 11 has 10 bit color onboard, and it looked like the image held up better even under the high ISO low light situations. Sorry you had to 'rough it' in the warmer climate for this review, though, lol!

The hero 11 is basically when a game developer forgot to add a feature to the last update(aka hero 10) so they made a new update (hero 11) with suttle changes. Great video btw I love this comparison

@@JakeSloan I ran into a small problem which is the beeping noise some times I will take a photo and the beep will be very delayed other than that it's still a good Camara

Nice video Looks pretty good! I'm on a Hero 9 and it works fine for me now after firmware updates, though having built-in horizon leveling without the max lens would be nice. I tend to use the lens mod a lot but I think it cuts out so much of the sensor on the Hero 9/10 that it quickly looks bad in low light.

Great comprehensive review. To my eyes the Hero 10 looked a bit better in low light but all other situations the Hero 11 had the edge.
For the same resolution and frame rate, how much larger is a file recorded in 10 bit color compared with 8 bit color?
I don’t have exact numbers but about 10-12% larger
What a good solid review, honestly I watched from the start to the end including ads, I was gonna buy the 9 but since I watched this video, I'm gonna upgrade to the 11 and spend couple of hundred more but I think will worth the investment in a medium-long term.

Man look at those warm Alaska-Florida sandy beaches!! I do enjoy my GoPro10. I may wait on the GoPro11. Battery life does sound a lot better with the 11 though. My 10 still wants to overheat when I have the media mod on it. Thanks for the review.

I just posted the hyperview moto vlog it’s wild. Hero 11 no longer has blue / purple sun glare from lense. It’s way different than 9,10.

It's incorrect to say the GP10 does not have horizon leveling w/o the Max lens. The GP 10 does have horizon leveling up to 90 degrees rotation, but you're in 2.7K.
No it’s not. The GoPro hero 10 does not have 360 degree horizon leveling without buying an additional $100.00 accessory. Without that it only has horizon leveling up to 45 degrees of tilt. As I CLEARLY show in the video
@@JakeSloan I wasn’t trying to start an argument, but I own two 9’s, two 10’s plus every other version, minus the 8, plus the Max lens. I’m probably going to pass on the 11 since the 360 is more a marketing gimmick.
@@JakeSloan Also, on a positive note, I do like the ISO quality which is a big factor in any camera. Honestly, I may end up picking up the 11 after your ISO comparison, but I'm not going to be in a huge rush like I was with the 10's.

Go Pro 10 does have 360 horizon leveling. Just try...Change setting to Max Mod Enabled and you have FULL 360 Degree Level lock

I never owned a GoPro before. I’m going for a 1month trip to the Philippines in December and snowboarding in March 2023. I also need a camcorder while I do my auto detailing videos. I’m leaning more towards between GoPro10 or 11?. What do you guys think?

Great video. Do you think the new sensor and 10 bit colour have helped with low light video? I am wondering about picking up this model for some quick real estate videos including some interior footage and am wondering about the usability for this task?
I think so the difference in the footage was pretty clear the low light on the 11 is better
Did you not see the video the Hero 10 is better in low light and the main reason I'm not upgrading from the 10, no point.

Great comparison Jake, the new Hero 11 looks great. But it your coming from the Hero 10 the video quality bump is minor. And some say the 10 bit color just introduces more noise. And I know this one has a bigger image sensor, which is vertical, and some say that is your mostly shooting 16x9 video this new sensor doesn't really improve the images quality. I have the Hero 10 and I don't plan on upgrading at this time. Thanks for sharing, loved the video.

Thanks for another great comparison video. Could you check if the GoPro 11 fixed the extreme heat and sudden freeze/shutdown issue of GoPro 10? Maybe you can run them both side by side in different environments / temperature and see how long they keep going. I think this has been the most complaint about GoPro 10.
I haven’t had issues but check the video that David manning did with overheating tests
@@JakeSloan I have had issues since day 1. It gets super hot and shuts down on its own. I have watched that video and yes it confirms GoPro isn't made for more than a 10-15 min action scene. I use it to create my travel videos.

I haven’t tried that but I believe there is but if I remember right you can up to a certain degree of tilt.
So i was just looking at Some footage of my Hero 10 and my new 11 and they look exactly the same.. there's a slight difference.. but man.. it looks the same. 😎
check the low light there is a big difference there!

I legit have a video already edited and ready to go.. but will definitely hold off if I can figure out how to get good enough quality in low light.. because that would be a big plus and I can easily reshoot and tell people how to bring the sauce with this camera.. but from my test.. there’s not enough of a difference from the 10 to tell people it’s worth the upgrade. So definitely hit me back pimpin! I need to know the ways of the force! 😎🥷

Yes you can on both. However not all functions will be available using the hero 10 battery due to the power needs of the 11

This was a great review, thank you for your hard work! I am new to action cameras and intend to use one for mountain biking as well as dirt biking. Costco has the Hero 10 on sale for $380 and it comes with an accessory bundle (extra battery, 64GB storage card, etc.). Being new to this area, do you think I should go for the 10 or the 11? In the end, I just want something to share experiences with family and friends. I'm not a pro but will upload to IG and UA-cam.

I have a question; I do my video editing in FCPX and would like to know what your thoughts are on color profiles "in camera" for best color matching in FCPX when mixing these two GoPro's? I almost always shoot in flat color to give the most flexibility in post and match up with other cameras!

Hi, Jake. I dug your video. I'm considering getting a GoPro, and you briefly talked about my biggest concern. You're in Florida, and I'm in Texas. So we get similar crazy heat in the summer months. You say the cameras got hot but never shut down. How long would you say you were recording? I sometimes need to shoot video in direct Texas sunlight for about 20 to 30 minutes. I'm talking slightly above/below 100 degrees. Would that be pushing it? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
I would say your better bet is the action 3 for Texas heat. GoPro will overheat and shut down in the heat eventually. The action 3 does a better job managing heat

battery degrades over time, so you can't expect a 1 year old to be as good as new one, swap between them and see if it makes a difference since they both fit to both cameras.

Gopro is dead to me. Got screwed on the 9 and didnt learn my lesson and bought the 10. Both freeze up both overheat and shut off and reboot. I lost so much video as well. I always loved my Osmo action 1 and now will buy the 4.
I just got the 4 and have a video coming on it next week, it's really incredible
No difference in image quality.
There is a difference in colors (slight) but in low light there is a big difference
