- The Sims 3 is a game that while sometimes beautiful, has not aged as gracefully as it could have. In this video I will be showcasing a bunch of graphics enhancement mods you can add to your Sims 3 game to remaster the visuals! We will cover everything from HD texture replacements to lighting mods and different shaders! The best part is this guide will be suitable for most PC’s, as we avoid using some of the heavier tools like ReShade. Below is a list of several links to mods we will be using, in chronological order with the video. I will show you in the video how to install each mod.

Hey everyone! I see some people are having issues with crashing or glitches! Although this guide is a lot less heavy than using ReShade, these mods will still add more of a workload to your PC when running the game, which could cause issues if you are on lower end hardware. Also, if you have specific glitches or issues, my first piece of advice is to rewatch and make sure you put everything in the right area, and followed ALL the steps correctly. It is easy to make mistakes and that could cause issues. Lastly, try removing any other mods if you have them, and running the game only with what was shown. If it works in isolation, you may have a conflicts issue, or simply too much CC and mods for your PC to handle. I will of course help with issues as much as I can but these are some things to try! ALSO, if you are experience a crash right away, try launching the game again. Ever since EA app my game will sometimes take up to three times to successfully launch, I have no clue why. It could be as simple as that though if that is an issue you are experiencing.
I only installed the Lady Duchess mods and altho the Load ASI Mods icon is ticked it says on the page to choose game file to play "RPclib ASI file not loaded.state: none".
I went through all the mods and it's the Lady Duchess split lighting causing the problem,trying to figure out why now.

@@Davehnry2did you also install the packages files into your packages folder? I have no idea why that might be happening otherwise. Did you test split level lighting to see if it’s not working? It may just say that for you but still work.
Wow. The graphics look gorgeous and I love how the stars look at night. It does add more depth and character... more realism to the game.

I'd suggest adding the "Enhance Free Butterflies and Falling Leaves with Physics" by Canibal_MLO, too. Seeing the red leaves flying through the air in autumn, with wind sounds and visual effects is just perfect and serene.

I've seen many tutorials for improving sims 3 visuals and this one might be my favourite. Very effective mod selection, amazing how much you can change the game's appearance with just a few tweaks. I also really appreciate the modded/unmodded comparisons. Thanks you for sharing!
Another option for textures I'd add would be Boring Bones' Project Eden. I use his defaults for terrain, rocks and plants. I find that it makes everything come together more easily on the eye
Good recommendation and fits well with other graphics improvement mods.

I don't know if it was a problem with my computer, but the map disappeared (!), the graphics settings didn't save, and the graphics became jagged.
@@franciscofranca1428 oh no!!! did you use the custom launcher too? I have no clue why that would happen other than maybe you don't have enough resources to utilize the mods?
also, do you have any other graphics mods that would conflict?

Thanks for making this video! I’m probably going to add all of these mods into my game now 😅 Just a note: I think it would’ve been helpful to see the unmodded and modded features side-by-side to get a better comparison. But I appreciate this video!
Yeah I realized after I had already recorded all the audio that I wrote my script in a way where I wouldn’t be able to show side by sides. If I ever do another video like this I’ll approach it differently.

Took the time to follow all the instructions and omg my game looks beautiful! Thank youuuu, such a quick and easy guide. I downloaded almost everything (i only didnt include the multi level lighting fix cause i dont mind EAs) but still its very pretty all the mods you mentioned
My game is runing good, i have a pretty solid laptop with alot of RAM and a mid level graphics card so all of this can work very nice in a mid range computer

acottonsock is so amazing! I have such a botched attention span I use 2 speed on every video now so I figured I’d make faster videos for anyone like me lol
There's a brand new mod that makes the trees etc look much higher definition. It's on tumbler.

Cool video! Reshade can blend with your game pretty well if you do the extra steps. I managed to add ambient occlusion with Reshade and it looks better than the Sims 4! For UI I use layers that disable effects where the interface is located. I also use UI detector which automatically disables effects when you are not in the main game.
Don't you know if this will help the game to not get a down of fps?

me too! i always feel so weird about it, because i genuinely like the graphics of the third game. i'm almost embarrassed - everyone says that it's terrible, and because of that i feel like there’s something wrong with either my eyes or my sense of beauty 😢

I wanna do this so bad. But for me... I just got my game back after fully resetting my whole PC. I've been off this game for about a month and I want what you just show. In my play-through, I'm doing an adventure pack where I find 24 sims to join me in my household and just live. I have over 77 mods to help me out, (I'll delete some of them later LOL) Now seeing that I can make my game much better I wanna do this. But I'm nervous I might mess up. I could use a helping hand if you don't mind.

my computer motherboard died and so the sims 3 with all mods :(
After replacing it, installed sims 4 instead but it looks terrible! even with 20 mods. Seems like I need to mod every single sim i see and add them skin overlay so they can look normal...
am thinking of just reinstalling clean sims 3. it doesn't even need mods to look pretty and sims are much higher quality
I had new york ''BOUROUGHSBURG'' world mod, game looked like sims 5! You should try that but it is pain to install correctly

gonna have to troubleshoot my game, clothing of the sims is grey whenever inside a house
the cause for it is the shaders (using AMD Radeon GPU)
I just installed everything and it works up until the intro but then it crashes saying the memory could not be read. Does anyone know why?
Sadly that is a vague error message that could be for a LOT of reasons. But if you have no other cc or mods than what is in this video it would be the mods causing issue, although I am not certain why since the files are working on my PC using the links i provided. Did you launch with custom launcher from Lazy Duchess? If you are using the extended shadows or split level lighting fix that will be a requirement. You could also maybe use the 1k texture replacement or remove it entirely and see if that helps. It may be too much depending on your hardware.
I do have the custom launcher and I tried removing the texture but I still got the message. I do have other cc installed so there is probably a conflict somewhere. Thanks!
@@hotdog8787 yeah most likely a conflict! If you know how to use S3pe and have an idea of what may be conflicting your can check the packages in S3pe and see if two are editing the same files
Just updating in case anyone else has the same problem. I took out everything from this video and put it back 1 by 1 and it only crashed with the lightning crater mod and the split level lighting mod so I’m just going to keep them out of my game. Im probably only having trouble with those mods because of a conflict though.

@@davinia6165 OSAB is the only way to get it safely i guess, its not available to get from Origin since a long time now

There are a ton of graphics enhancements for sims 4! I don’t play it however so I wouldn’t be the best to ask but I’m sure there are plenty of great tutorials on UA-cam already!
@@LitrallyAJ I wouldn't know. I haven't play PC sims since 2019(I bought it on 2018) bc I lent my gaming laptop to someone and they broke it. I have been a console player since. Lol. I didn't know such a thing came out in so many details.

So sad, I cannot see any clouds in my game (also no EA-clouds, is it because I dont have Seasons installed?) And in the launcher only 3 mods are being displayed, the others not - is it normal? I love how your game looks! You did an amazing job 😍
There is sometimes a glitch in sims 3 where the clouds do not display properly and the only known fix is to exit and reload the save. That may be the issue OR it may be because you don’t have all packs. I have all expansions so that might be why it works for me and not you.
Also I forgot to say yes it is normal to only see 3 mods! The game will only list script mods in the popup!
If my game could handle it I’d re-buy this in a instant… The Shit 4 can go bury its self
0:08 I’m all up for modding games to make the graphics nicer but we gotta stop this attitude of assuming games are no longer good because they were made 15 years ago, the quality isn’t up to todays standards but it isn’t going to be, it’s still a great game that added so much new ideas to the franchise

I might in the future! I’m not as familiar with the graphics mods in sims 2 but I’m sure there is no end to texture replacements so I’ll have to do some research and fine tune it to my liking

The Sims 4 is not as pretty as people claim. The colors are washed out, the textures are poor. TS3 looks much richer, with more vibrant colors, and better textures. With little tweaks it can look much better than TS4.
