Warm light lamps or string lights instead of ceiling lights. It makes everything feel so much more cozy! Also curling up with a sketchbook or a fun read.
I love making a cup of Earl Grey tea with sugar, and watching a Disney movie or playing board games with friends/ my boyfriend! Candles are my vice and the only thing I’m not minimal with!😂 they’re so great in the winter!
Fairy lights, warm drink, candles , a fiction book and blanket 😍! I'm from Canada and I used to hate winter but now I don't mind it because there are benefits and appreciation to every season. I actually like that gets dark early lol and I love coziness. It helps having good winter outdoor clothes. I love all of these tips and I do them all and it makes a huge difference❤️ I really love the idea of hygge I wish there was more videos about it.
This video is perfect! I just came back to my apartment after spending time with family. I definately am feeling lonely and down. Your tips are amazing and inspiring!
This video couldn’t be on a more perfect day! I’m Canadian and today is the coldest day we’ve had yet this winter, it’s currently -34C/-29F outside. I’m totally embracing the hygge lifestyle today with cozy clothes and blankets, warm drinks and lots of self care! Your videos are super relaxing and calming to watch, thank you ♥️🥰
I really appreciate how wholesome all of your videos! I really love to watch them whenever I feel anxious/depressed. They make me feel much more hopeful. Thank you :)
I love love love wunter but I have Hashimoto's so I hate the cold. But I love to watch the snow fall. I love the smell of the cold crisp air. The snow crunching under my feet. I live 8 miles from the closest town and its so nice to see the undesturbed snow in the fields.
Thank You for this video Ashlynne. It was pretty inspiring. And I have to say... your voice and videography are as cozy as the winter you are describing 😊
I live in Wisconsin where it is currently 8°F, Yesterday it was negative! (But that's normal for our winters.) As I watched your video I thought "well yeah that's all common sense", but also realized I haven't been doing these things. So thank you for reminding me to try to make winter the best it can be, even tho it is dark and freezing!
Hi Ashlynne, I have been checking your videos out (many of them... and love them all). Thank you for all your inspiration and for being so open and letting me (and others) into your life. I admire that. - Anyway... I am from Denmark, and LOVE how you enjoy Hygge :-) Right now it’s summer in DK, (and not raining, it did that most of July), and then Hygge is all about eating strawberries, rashberrys, ruhbarb etc. We drink a lot of “koldskål” and grill/cook outside, drink cold beer or wine, stay outdoors as much as possible, go to the beach, read outside in the sun, plant flowers, play outdoor games... usually we have a lot of musical festivals, but not this year due to CV19. Instead we enjoy small garden parties with close friends and family. I have never read the “Hygge” book, so perhaps you already knew all of this, but I just felt like sharing some Danish summer hygge idears :-D Stay safe
I found Hygge 2 yrs ago and even as a minimalist can be achieved and it is such a beautiful treat I see as a way of not only pampering myself but pampering my home....our homes absorb so much stress and tension and warming it up I see it as letting our home decompress at the same time we do....YES TO READING....💚💜❤
Any tips on how to create a less cluttered, organized, minimal lifestyle and living space? I am kind of a hoarder but I really enjoy being organised xx
Thank you for the good ideas, I totally agree with the technology thing. ☺️ it is nothing but dark and gloomy in the UK at the moment 😑☔❄️ have a great day!
As someone who is rather crafty, I love having things around that I have created, cross stitches on the wall, blankets and pillows, handmade socks/hats/scarves. Then even though I may be watching tv I’m still crafting knitting or cross stitching.
Hi Ashlynne, I'm in Melbourne, Australia... keeping all this in mind and as a saved video for 'our winter season'!! brrr No where near as cold as some comments on here!!! Thank you so much for the tips
Perfect timing! I’ve been looking a lot into hygge lately, as a SAHM living in a cold state. Thank you! Also, I feel like you’re going to say you thrifted it, but if not - where is your stoneware mug from?
I love to sleep more and better in winter 😇. And I love to play card- and boardgames with my husband and my sons. Raclette with some guests is also very hygge for us. And taking a bath with a book 😍.
These are all great ideas! I think winter gets a bad rap. All of these tips can make a ho hum day much more enjoyable. Spending more time indoors is also a good excuse to work on some decluttering. : )
I live in Toronto, Canada. It's super cold with the 'extreme cold weather warnings' (means -15° C or colder, or a wind chill of -20° C or colder, for the City of Toronto). I can't wait for spring to start up soon..... I bake my own chocolate chip cookies! I find it therapeutic!! I keep my cell phone off for 2 hours...this is when it is usually charging. If I'm on social media, I have a 30 min timer...when it goes off, I stop my activities. I love being in my lounge clothes or PJs and cuddling up with hot chocolate/tea or coffee and reading a good book.
I definitely do most of these already! I finally got into reading for fun a couple weeks ago. It was always such a chore for me in school and I’m so pleased I finally found the genera and series that I actually look forward to reading or can’t put the book down. I’m just wondering what part of Canada you’re from, I hate to admit it but I’m one of those hiding from the snow and cold 😅 I love this video, thanks for sharing!
It's been hard to enjoy the winter. I'm exhausted from work 5 days a week, getting up 5am and going to work in 23 to 30 degree weather and going to bed at 9. I'm also raising 2 teen granddaughters and working.
Do you miss the Canadian winters, Ashlynne? I've only ever lived in south-eastern areas in the US (like South Carolina, Missouri, Kansas and Tennessee), so any snow that I get doesn't stay for more than a couple days. I hope you've been enjoying the new year so far! :)
Ashlynne Eaton OMG you responded ummmm thank you for helping me along my journey and helping me with the concept of minimalism and how it can really be beneficial, thank you, you inspire people everyday and I’m so thankful that I could learn from the best!!!
What's your favorite way to make the winter more hygge?
Hot chocolate and a sofa blanket
Warm light lamps or string lights instead of ceiling lights. It makes everything feel so much more cozy! Also curling up with a sketchbook or a fun read.

Hooray for hygge! All good stuff...also essential oils in a diffuser, Celtic music, a favorite feel good old movie, knitting a scarf.
Lavander oil, P'mint oil my fav's, playing soft jazz and making a pot of veg. soup or homemade chili.
I had to declutter my essential oils. Super bad for cats apparently :(

Enjoying a hot cup of Peppermint tea as I’m watching your video. Spot on to making the winter months more cozy and enjoyable.
Oh my gosh yes!! Love it 💙
Loved all of the cozy clips in this video! Also, congratulations on your new website...it is a work of art!

Haha yes!! Sometimes we all need that reminder to act on those common sense things. It’s great inspiration to get started! 💙🥰
I’m done with Winter, I’m so ready to start welcoming in Spring. I’m in SoCal.😊
Haha definitely still feeling like winter here. That’s awesome though! 💙

Haha so glad you enjoyed! And it’s not thrifted, but I got it from a local potter in our area!
I love to sleep more and better in winter 😇. And I love to play card- and boardgames with my husband and my sons. Raclette with some guests is also very hygge for us. And taking a bath with a book 😍.
I love this video, thanks Ashlynne. I'm in Mauritius and here its hot. Watching this feels cozy anyways.
Nice video! HYGGE is Danish for COMFORT. =)
LOVE IT! 💙🥰
Heyhey, I had to stop at 5:00 because now I want one of those cookies! :) they look amazing. Would you share the recipe? 🥰
Haha I love that!! My favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe is the one from the Sally’s Baking Addiction blog ✨
These are all great ideas! I think winter gets a bad rap. All of these tips can make a ho hum day much more enjoyable. Spending more time indoors is also a good excuse to work on some decluttering. : )

Haha that’s awesome! Once you make it a habit, reading can be so rewarding! And I’m originally from Ottawa!
Ashlynne Eaton ah so cool! I’m from south western Ontario but I’m currently living in Toronto. You definitely got more snow than here! 😅
For sure! Ottawa usually gets a ton of snow during the winter 🥰
It's been hard to enjoy the winter. I'm exhausted from work 5 days a week, getting up 5am and going to work in 23 to 30 degree weather and going to bed at 9. I'm also raising 2 teen granddaughters and working.
Wish you could relocate to the SW desert...its less expensive and a simpler way of life....sending you warm wishing 🌞🌴🌻
This is the wrong video for me to watch in August 😂 But I cannot wait for winter and all the coziness.

Haha yes for sure! I love the snow and any and all snowy activities too! Hope you’ve had a great new year too!
Is that a board game at the opening of #7?
Wow so early! ♥️
Haha love it!! 💙
@@AshlynneEaton thank you! x
Hello every one
Hey!! 💙
Ashlynne Eaton OMG you responded ummmm thank you for helping me along my journey and helping me with the concept of minimalism and how it can really be beneficial, thank you, you inspire people everyday and I’m so thankful that I could learn from the best!!!
You glowed up so much since 2012 (acne videos)
Once you started saying about baking cookies, all I wanted to do was paused the video, run to the grocery store and buy some pastries to bake. Lol
I need to put my phone on do not disturb, so o can exercise, meditate and do yoga.
Kate sent me :)
Love it!!
Great ideas :)
