- Alright, Alright The early GR2100 had a problem with the transaxle, so this video covers the next step in rebuilding the transaxle, mainly rebuilding it. This GR2100 has many hours on it and desperately needed a transaxle rebuild kit and some other parts (shown in the video). You can refer to the workshop manual GR2100EC2 as a guide.
Be sure to have the serial number for your GR2100. Apparently there are different glide steer cables and rebuild kits available. I have an early model and the glide steer cable needed was K1253-41754-620.

Thanks for a great video. I am in the process of stripping mine apart, but we can't get the kit here in Australia, so just going to replace most of the bearings and seals, not sure what I'm going to do for the bushings. Fortunately I don't have a broken shaft, but there is a broken thrust washer! That channel that was blocked is just a breather. The shaft broke because when the cable broke, the clutch could not disengage and turning would have caused excessive strain on it. The drive shaft to the deck comes off, it has a sleeve that you pull back and the coupling comes off the shaft.
HI, many thanks for such great video. What is the torque used during the screwing of the two aluminium cases?. I have an oil leak just at the bottom and I'm thinking that the pressure on the bolds is not correct.Considering to open it again but I will like to use the correct torque.

Awesome video. I am fixing to tear mine apart also. One question I have is did you flush the whole hydraulic system due to the metal shavings? I was wondering if the shavings would be all the way up into the front gearbox? Thank you!!!
And to think I was considering upgrading to a GR, now seeing the planetary drive and all the crazy parts involved I'll go with a BX instead. You do great work, are you flipping this rig or keeping it? Cheers.
I'm keeping this one. After the rebuild it is running good and strong.
I don't know how you got the pto clutch back in so easy! Mine has givin me a headache for two days! Maybe I'll pull the transaxle

Try disconnecting the front cable of the glide system. One on each side...
Hi , great video , i have got a similar problem in that the drive into the transaxle in pouring out of oil . i have spoke to the local Kubota dealer who tells me there is no rebuild kit ! It looks like i will have to take the whole unit apart to install the bearing, seal , My question is where did you get the kit from ,or s there an exchange unit available .

The big flat plate with holes in it that came in kit where does that go ? I have it in my kit i just got and i seen it in your parts bag but you never put it on unless i missed that part
I have a gr2100ec2 which I have just lost drive on the pto clutch to deck I stripped pto clutch and replaced the clutch pack reinstalled and still weak drive to the point it won't spin the deck but will spin with no load perfect any ideas on what the issue could be Thanks in advance
There are 5 different kits available for the different models that were affected. For the model in the video and 4 other machines the kit part number has been superseded to Kubota 3909X21003.. Around $410 in early 2024...
I was wondering if the the engine shaft vibrates cause I just bought the same tractor and I am going thru and notice vibration

I think I spent 3 days on it, but that includes filming time. It would probably have taken 2 days counting time for gasket seal overnight.

Do you have any play at the transmission input from the engine prop shaft?
Yeah, also interested, my GR2120 has some play in the input shaft. Some clown didn't fasten the bolt on the u-joint, so that put extra force on the bearing. Also the u-joint seems to have to much play on the axle-shaft. The whole machine vibrates like crazy. But getting parts here in the Netherlands is not easy. Seems everything goes through Kubota dealer. I'm somewhat new in the Kubota "world"...

seems like you should have cleaned off all those parts you just moved right over. i would be concerned about transferring metal shavings over.
