Judea Pearl is a professor at UCLA and a winner of the Turing Award, that's generally recognized as the Nobel Prize of computing. He is one of the seminal figures in the field of artificial intelligence, computer science, and statistics. He has developed and championed probabilistic approaches to AI, including Bayesian Networks and profound ideas in causality in general. These ideas are important not just for AI, but to our understanding and practice of science. But in the field of AI, the idea of causality, cause and effect, to many, lies at the core of what is currently missing and what must be developed in order to build truly intelligent systems. For this reason, and many others, his work is worth returning to often.

This is an amazing video for stimulating me as a researcher!!!
Pearl is killings flex's intelligence, mad
The way he frames conditional probability plays original and closer to reality than what is perceived by studying textbooks. At the same time, it comes easier to grasp the concept when one thinks of it as J.P. frames it. Two birds with a stone!
Super fascinating and awesome!
Could we calculate the max possible percentage of people who might fall asleep in a self driving car by studying the percentage of people who fall asleep often as passengers?
Maybe people who can sleep easier as a passenger are more likely to sleep as a driver of an autonomous vehicle .
This channel is great. Thanks Lex.
That was interesting: 'I have chosen to look only on those incidents where the guy has the same value as previous one. It's my choice.' So how is that apply to free will which according to him is an illusion?
You should invite Nassim Nicholas Taleb once to your show. That podcast would be 💥.
How often does a person fall asleep on a long distance bus? The automatic pilot of a car is like a human bus driver. Reliability and past experiences will determine if you trust bus drivers in general to fall asleep because you feel safe, the same with cars.
Just like Our definition of chaotic system is limited by our ignorance.... isn't it?
