They are looking to introduce a racing line in the wet that will be more slippery. I hope it is obvious where the slippery areas are. A little shine of the wet rubber on the tarmac would be great.
The update has so much hype around it that it'll struggle to meet expectations. I'm going to wait and try it for myself, but I don't expect massive handling changes, which is what I want along with MP stability. What I took from the dev blog is that Reiza have taken the game as far as they can, pretty much, and can only make graphics changes etc. Maybe it's time to forget about making the fireworks pretty and start on AMS3. "But the fireworks look great now". Shake my effing head.
@@hereward1971 Too long, too quiet. 'Game changing' has become such a meme with AMS2, even they are mentioning it now! :) AMS2 is fun if you just accept it for what it is. I welcome the new content (esp Road Atlanta). See you on track soon...
@@hereward1971 Mate, if the update was *only* Road Atalanta I’d be delighted. The ‘good’ cars/mods already in AMS2 will be amazing round there. Sector 1 will be a shitshow, but that’s normal. Love that track.
@@hereward1971 BTW hoping to catch you and @MetzVR on the commentary tomorrow. Caught up with last weeks stream, great racing and punditry from both of you. (Mic off when you cough 😷 🤭)
Attack of the Jelly Moulds and the Chevy Chicanes. I've been taking a break from AMS2 lately and been doing Assetto Corsa whilst we all wait for 1.6 update to drop. I've also got a bit weary with AMS2 as well because of the AI physics and how they haven't been worked on enough. Worst offences for me are when they are at their most reckless in the early phases of the race, they don't get affected by heavy fuel loads and the same issues you had here in the wet where they've got magic grip even though they should have no downforce, are able to break in such short distances and on a standing wet start they all get away cleanly whilst you're struggling to get off the line. I want to enjoy doing a wet race as seeing the effects and being amazed by them and the classic tracks are what first attracted me to AMS2, but the AI make for an unrealistic experience.
hehe I'm almost sure the ai in this video is on slicks and still good in rain ;-) I was starting a race with rain, that dries up towards the end of the race. I decide to not change tires for the last 2 rounds, only to find out the ai was on slicks for the entire wet race and now they are all speeding past me on the drying track 🤦♂ was struggling to keep my line in the wet on wet tires, while ai on slicks are just driving woderfully fine. haven't gone back to AMS2 since. waiting for a fix to a problem that exists since years 😭
If I’m honest, those 3 videos really don’t show in my opinion the true scale of improvements in v1.6. The car handling across pretty much all classes feels way more like I expect them too, and even bigger improvement in the predictability and control you have of the cars. I think the majority of people will enjoy this update when it lands. I’m sure when the upcoming dev blog lands, those 3 videos will be joined by some text and maybe more videos to describe them a bit better. Those 3 improvements though are all definitely felt within the update, that is for sure!
These update videos are indeed underwhelming. However, being able to test 1.6 for some time now: it will be awesome. Just give them some time to iron out the bugs, as there still are quite a few
Yeah I'm getting nothing but posertives from beta testers, I'm can't see 1.6 being anything other than another leap foreward, my gripe was the info in the video's was a bit cryptic, maybe I wanted a AAA driving movie type thing LOL Prefare the vlog posts they put out with lots of detail to chew through.
I've taken part in races like this, with all that rain, usually at Spa and, too, hate the way other players just pause too long at corners - and then you're crashing up the rear - with all the associated guilt. Very good rendering, though.
You could definitely see the racing line glistening in the wet on 1.6, that should be a great help. The AI, I liked the defensive moves they made, but using a car with DRS to show improved AI overtaking makes me sceptical. Using the slipstream effectively is one of the worst points about the AI in AMS2, at least against each other. I hope cars without DRS are more effective at it, but I ain't holding my breath.
The AI is everything when you're offline, so racing against them when they're incredibly fast on the straights and slow on the corners feels like the year 2000! Everything else is a good move imo, so please sort the AI which increases the fun and immersion
I really don't mind waiting but it is starting to feel a bit like they have some real issues behind the scenes with getting the 1.6 patch to a releasable state. Also the radio silence around the IMSA stuff seems weird to me.
Don't take the regular racing line when its raining, it becomes more slippery, Also I notice in asseto corsa and other racing games the ai will intentionally ruin your racing line even if it means it ruins its own.
I don't mind waiting on 1.6, but Renaulto puts out messages guilt-tripping the playerbase for caring about the development, teases things are going to be coming soon and then goes radio silent until enough people get pissed off again. I think he wrote a blog post saying to expect big things in the next coming days at the end of August and then nothing happened and then we get updates for updates about updates with no concrete release date which naturally causes apathy to set in. I want to care, but it's like Reiza thinks I'm entitled and holding something over them by doing so.
I'll get the pitch forks...........Yeah I saw those messages and then waited, and waited and 2 weeks later.......waited a bit more LOL I'm avoiding most of what gets posted now just to keep a little sanity LOL
Vortices look really cool? No? I like the sound of the updates to the tyres and wet weather, i heard a story that road atlanta is going to be in the update as well, that would be a great addition but i dont know wheter to trust randoms online 😂
They've already promoted a new track pack with leaked Sebring and Road Atlanta (which has been revealed publicly already). It's also going to launch with Endurance Pack 2 meaning we'll have new hypercars from what I've seen. Alpine and Ferrari hypercars have been basically confirmed.
@@hereward1971I think you will be pleasantly surprised. I've stopped racing the current release version and am just solely running the beta. It's really good.

The tyres feel unreal, sometimes is like drive on ice. The cars don’t give us information about the limits. The rest is incredible but many times I choose other sims because I feel better sensations. Thanks for keeping working!!
This whole frustrating situation is down to Reiza not having proper marketing people and strategy. Their teasing without fulfilling the update dates has overheated the expectations - and now current public version just feels like not the best version that exists, so why play it at all. They should have been giving smaller updates all this time, to show they're working on it and the wait and expectations would have been much more tempered. Alas as sometimes happens in game dev, the studio lead insists on microing everything, which takes away his time on actual development and management tasks. Not ideal. I'm sure the update will be nice, hopefully fixes up stuff. But this year left a bad taste solely because of how they communicated their development updates.
Looking at the videos on the 1.6 update, and reading various blogs, it appears that a vast part of the update includes things that the end user will never see during a race, like the Vortices and tyre blisters, ok work them into the update, but why make a point of showing them off, the tyre thing will really only be evident through FFB in my opinion, the Vortices will only be visible from other cars, and are just eating frame rate, and have no barring on the way the car rides or moves. more time should be spent polishing what is graphically already up there as one of the best in the sim racing titles, so it wouldn't take much for sure to put it up there in the number 1 spot. AI in any sim is never going to race you like a "real" driver would, as it is impossible to input the kind of data required to achieve a realistic race with AI, and it's not just AMS that has this issue with AI, all sims do. But again Owen has put together another great video, as informative as ever, and no hidden mistakes, as always he shows it warts and all lol
