How to ruin a Focus ST

  • So Ive been told multiple times that I ruined this car by going to the extreme measures I've gone to to save weight and simplify this car. Everything I do to this car is focused on benefiting the performance and getting it closer to being a true racecar. While we have all this down time, I figured it would be a great idea to reduce the clutter and get rid if all the wires in the body harness that were no longer needed. It was a pretty extreme task and took up a significant amount of time, but it was all worth it to gain knowledge and benefit the performance. We hope you enjoy!

    As a Focus ST fanboy, it is really great to see someone going all-the-way with a true racecar build. Thanks for all of the great content, I can't wait to see how this does on track!

    I love when people say someone ruined their car. You did what you wanted to it thats your car. Give no shit about what others think but do leave them in the rear view mirror. Going to be taking a very close route to yours once I have a garage. Keep on clutching

    This was a nice video. The bigger car enthusiast channels would stretch this across 8 videos

    This is crazy 😳 Very impressive work. You could have flocked the dashboard while it was out, though. I don’t do mine because I’d never have the time and courage to take it out.

    Braver than I lol...That's a lot of work man. Good stuff. I no longer have my ST. I, what I believe, upgraded to a 2019 Mustang GT. I'll be sticking around though. Your videos are fun and at times educational. Thanks for the entertainment during this pandemic.

    Hey Trey! Really love the content, from the straight pipe video to where you are now... Great stuff! Love your devotion and methodical approach. I don't think you ruined this car at all. You maybe went to an extreme, but with the increasing electronics and computerization of cars, techs will inevitably have to be skilled at this kind of stuff. DIY'ers will need trailblazers like you to set the foreground in a world where it seems it'll be Impossible for the average weekend Warrior to fix their problems. Once again, KEEP IT UP, LOOKING FORWARD TO MORE 🙂💯

      Thank you so much for the compliments! The videos will be coming! I’ve hit a major barrier with the build and nothing was getting done on the head I dropped off at the machine shop. I’ve ordered all the parts necessary to finish building the head but I’m just waiting on one more order to get here. There’s a lot of new stuff going into this car so stay tuned!

      @@tbr.performance I cant wait to see more! I'm thinking about getting some minor mods done on my ST to go try out drag racing. There isnt a big footprint for import drags around here and the budget is stupid tight.

    Very ambitious of you. I think your on the right track, and you found the CAN bus network line to connect the body/interior to the ECU. You didn't get the anti-theft error so that's covered. Not sure what your going to do with the dash, maybe fab a new one. And the door panels as well, fab some light weight ones. Time to think about sound deadening material as well. I like your videos, entertaining to watch.

    Aaahhh, the 70s... where you had speaker wires, and a wire connectinng the ignition switch to the battery and starter, and that was pretty much it.
    BTW, the music in the background is unbearable.

    I have a 15 Abarth and there have been a couple of times I had an opportunity to do a motor swap and if I went through it I wanted to do my own harness.. Pretty much what you did.. And really get into figuring out how I can make it cleaner ^.^

    I’m experiencing what you had happen when you de-pinned the car I have a stock focus where the same no start issues occurred with the engine fault, steering, etc. you showed us where the blue and white wire went inside the car, where do they go on the outside? Having the exact same issue is there any way I can call you?

    @VALLEY CREW RACING I wish you had my number!!! I could've told you exactly what was wrong right away. I didn't pull the harness like you but I did break one of those CAN wires at the firewall when I was running aux wiring for something else. Communication wires can suck because they require talking to other modules in order to allow startup. Supposed to stop module swapping from car to car without it being re-programmed. As soon as I saw the video I had to watch to see if you did the same thing. LOL!!

    If you got time and patience why not get some experience, I remember a friend doing something like this about twenty years ago to a corvette to change dash and other stuff to look like a newer model it was fun for him as was his 78 Kawasaki bored out 1400 cc nitrous oxide motorcycle and eventually other drag motorcycles

    Bro really good video I have a focus ST modded .....I have a question for you though my high beam headlights will not work I hear the relay clicking in - but I think the relay is inside the body control module.... So there's no way to fix my high beams without changing the BCM .....I seen that you have look at the diagrams and you might have a better idea than just the forms

    You could get a Syvecs Stand alone ECU and run your own harness instead of the Ford ECU

    • @tbr.performance
      @tbr.performance  4 роки тому +1

      Stand alone ecu is definitely the goal but unfortunately I’m just not ready to make that kind of a purchase but I want to be one of the first people to run one with this car.

    • @mattodowd5314
      @mattodowd5314 4 роки тому

      That's cool brother, I dig what it is you do on your channel. Those ECUs are pretty pricey but if your goal is full racecar that'd be your best bet for our cars.

Ill even pay you, but i've wanted to reach out to you specifically because ive been following your channel from the beginning. Whether you agree to work on my project with me or not, keep grinding, ill always support and respect you. Thank you!

      With what I’ve done at this point, it should be making close to 450 whp and close to 500 wtq when I’m finished tuning. The car weighs under 3000 pounds as well with a full tank and me in it.
