I have been searching for this song for over 20yrs and I just found it! I have a mixed tape of anime openings and closings I made back in the 90s and the only way for me to listen to this has been on an old walkman. Even after all these years its still so beautiful.

Yeah, I miss the hand drawn style as well. It's crudeness had a certain charm to it, and it really helped anime look a bit grittier. Nowadays, even the supposed gritty ones look squeaky clean.
This fucking anime could be a master piece the story has massive potential buried underneath a bizarrely cut together series

Part of my lung was collapsed during the operation as they were removing a rib to alleviate symptoms of Thoracic Outlet Syndrome. Recovering in hospital for 3 days and then a good 3 months before I had energy again.

Genocyber is Something I can't describe with just words, it hard to see an anime like that now a days. It simply goes beyond.
It's one of those Adult Action OVAs, unfortunately a dead genre nowadays.
@RCA G Some new OVAs on Netflix kinda fit that description now that I looked into it, but it isn't the same, either made of CG, poor direction or poor taste in the violence, I doubt we will ever get back the glory days of beautiful animated OVAs again.

@@rockolutheran Most 90's OVAs fit that genre, actually I find harder to find not adult OVAs of that era, if you want some examples: Iczer, Guy Double Target, Puppet Princess, Ninja Scroll, Wicked City, Apocalipse Zero.

I recommend for you to check out dorohedoro and megalobox. Both are modern anime that's have the classic 90s anime style.

It's 2021, and I'm doing that lol, and totally agree 100%. I've never seen this anime, or heard this song until now, and it's definitely giving me inspiration art-wise.. I don't get those feelings from current anime, or it's music honestly... Though still even if the stuff today isn't so great, it is 10000 times better than the crap the west keeps producing lol.

Genocyber is a bad OVA that gets SO CLOSE to being kinda good in that first episode. Then just gets boring and constantly angry... and yet Fairy Dreamin' is one of the catchiest and rocking 90's anisongs I can think of. You're right: At least Ohata's OVAs deliver on the music front.

hers something i never understood about anime... why do such dark grizzly violent series have such happy cheerful opening/ending songs? elfen lied has be your girl an upbeat pop type song. genocyber has fairy dreaming... rurouni kenshin and yu yu hakusho fit into this situation too. flcl is a goofy series so its music makes sense. the slayers series has upbeat advenuting types of intros. so what gives?
