And that's how the Real Pro's do it. Masterful in every way. People alot of times acknowledge suffering , they just turn away from it. That's the sadness.
Thanks, Sarah, for listening to my requests. Both of those songs were from the "Division Bell " tour. High Hopes was written by David Gilmour and Rick Wright. The lyrics were written by David's wife, Polly. It was the last song written by him before the group broke up. It's more about how the original 5 members of PF started off in the 1960's, but as PF usually does, anyone can apply it to their own situation. BTW, my name is pronounced ""Coo - pee".
On The Turning Away is from the album A Momentary Lapse Of Reason which was the 1st Pink Floyd album minus Roger Waters back around 1987. The LIVE version on Delicate Sounds of Thunder is from that tour.
Excellent songs, Sarah! Some of Pink Floyds finest, and most emotional songs. Beautiful! Excellent job, by the way! Btw, you look fantastic! God Bless You!
Great songs indeed, from an underrated era of Floyd. good choices and every Floyd fan should hear them. For another great Floyd tune, try the Live at Pompeii Live version of Echoes, it is in 2 parts as it originally opened and closed the documentary concert film on that unique event. It will blow your mind! Enjoy, 🎸🎹🎵
As amazing as this is, Pink Floyd are one of those rare bands who's live performances are actually better than the studio versions in many cases. Pure genius!
Once again, great take on what is being portrayed by the artists involved. I personally enjoy Pink Floyd's studio cuts as I don't need a 'laugh track' to know when I should be impressed or thankful. So, thank you.
A must-see is the "High Hopes" live in Gdansk video on David Gilmour's official YT channel. That performance featured an orchestra and Gilmour playing a beautiful acoustic guitar outro after his solo on the pedal steel guitar. IMO the best version of "High Hopes".
I always find it strange that in its normal genre, the pedal steel guitar will drive me insane and make me want to turn the sound off. However, in the hands of David Gilmour, the instrument becomes so hard rock its beyond description. These two songs are real solid proof that the post Waters Floyd was legit.
@@nathd1748 David definitely uses the steel slide on every version of High Hopes in every video of that song I've ever seen. (Including the one I saw personally.) He also uses it in "One of these days" .
@@nathd1748 You, my friend, are incorrect that the pedal steel wasn't used on High Hopes. It most certainly was used on the studio version and all 3 times I saw them do it live and on every live video there is. On the Turning Away is all Strat.
@@chazblitz I apologise. You are correct! I am going watching a Floyd tribute band next week here in the UK. Will be interesting to see what their offering is!
Steve Howe has been playing a double neck pedal steel guitar like Gilmour since 1972. Stand out tracks with Howes steel are The Gates Of Delirium, Awaken, and And You And I.
Sarah, I love it when such a young girl talks about her childhood ;-). Now imagine how you'll remember it when you're 50 or 60. I'm sure the view will be very different. Otherwise, I like the way you think about songs and lyrics. Of course, you can find descriptions or meanings of songs somewhere on the internet, but it's nice that you think about it yourself. Here you've picked two songs that are from a later era of Pink Floyd, when Roger Waters - the former main lyricist - was no longer in the band, when they were at their peak, and when albums like The Dark Side Of The Moon and Wish You Were Here were made. These are absolute musical gems - and really should be listened to in one sitting. Just listen to them for yourself. Close the blinds, put on your headphones and take a spectacular trip. Good luck and I wish you well. Excuse my poor English - I'm from the Czech Republic.

Assistindo a sua reação me chamou a atenção o seu jeito todo concentrada curtindo a canção sem interromper e só comentar no final. Parabéns, levou o meu like e assistirei mais o seu conteúdo. The Momentary Lapse of Reason album you can listen to the songs individually as its not like The older albums. I think you will enjoy Learning to fly and One Slip
You need to listen to the LIVE in Venice version of On The Turning Away...it has more Oooomph. Also the catchy tune off the Division Bell album called Take It Back. Absolute corker along with Coming Back to Life and Lost For Words.
Sarah Rae may I suggest you react when you can to the Live version of the turning away remastered it will blow you away the guitar solo goes on for much longer I promise you wont be disappointed. Plus same again for high Hope's live at the pulse concert Earl's Court London 1994.
We can never get tired of listening to Pink Floyd, such beautiful melodic sounds
best band of all times 😎👍

The best thing about people reacting to pink Floyd is they just sit and listen with extraordinary facial expressions, you didn't dissappoint

Gilmour doesn't use the pedal steel on these 2 songs. He uses it on One Of These Days and a couple of others on the Pulse Tour.

Hi Sarah, check out the High Hopes cover by finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish, great rendition of this amazing song.

Oh wait the song ended too early or I'm missing something?

please watch COMFORTABLY NUMB LIVE PULSE 1994
Will do. Thank you.
Sadly, this was the last Pink Floyd song with lyrics.
No bull shit but you have a strong resemblance to the young Kate Bush.
