Thanks for the video. I used the 2x4 tip mentioned by Ron D (thanks!) in the comments, avoided removing the control panel and detergent tray, but did take off the rubber gasket. Easy to get the spring clamp off and pull back the gasket to get to the light, but difficult to get the clamp back on the gasket without an expansion tool or large snap ring pliers. (Noticed reinstalling the spring clamp is not shown in the video) If I have to do this again, I'll try to not remove the gasket and spring clamp.
For our LG WM4270 washer we purchased part EAQ61400802 from Encompass Supply chain solutions. $26 + $11 shipping, delivered quickly. This part is shown on LG's parts diagram, but its not given a part number, so had to make a couple calls to LG. Finally found someone who was persistent and kept checking until she was able to track down a part number on one of LG's suppliers documents.

I just replaced the light in my 8500 series LG Washer. The part number is EAQ61400802. I purchased a pair of specialty pliers for removing the spring from Amazon for around 13 dollars,
383EER4004A/383EER4001A Washer Spring Expansion Removal Tool for 4986ER0004F/B/G Door Boot, Inner Outer Spring Replace for LG and Samsung, Kenmore.
It made the repair much easier. I did not take the front control panel off. The only trouble was getting the top off. I needed to take a 2x2x12 and hammer to loosen it up enough to get it to slide back!

I have the same washing machine in the video. I got the new light and as I suspected, I installed it without removing the front control panel. Also, I was able to keep the main rubber-to-opening undisturbed. I was able to access everything from the top. "Key" was wedging a short 2x4 piece of lumber between the floating drum and the front metal structural beam. Doing so increased the area to get my hands inside to replace the light. Because of the limited access, I replaced the wire tie instead of reusing the original one because it was too difficult to slip back on. Again, thank you for your method. It helped immensely though with deviations.

We have a Kenmore Elite. Washer…. Just a note you could add - on our model, once the top is off, you have full access to the light connector cable and the drum. So no need to loosen that panel or screw with the soap/softener dispenser or remove the front panel!
Thank you so much for this very helpful video. I do wonder if there was a need to remove the front control panel. It seems you only need to detach the rubber in the tub and also remove the large top cover. I will be ordering a new LED light and follow your procedure, initially without removing the front panel. Again, I thank you very much.

I think you’re right.
You might try just removing the boot door seal to see if you can get to the light wiring.

But do you have to take that rubber piece off?
