Enjoyable and informative review, thanks 🙂
Glad you enjoyed and found the review informative. You are welcome.
Got my WUs 2 weeks ago. I pair them with a 7Hz 71 dongle DAC and man... They sound fantastic! They are my personal top right now followed by the S12s. Comparing them to the S12s I find them to be much more comfortable, they have a deeper and better bass and a cleaner, livelier, more detailed sound overall. That being said, build quiality and presentation are miles ahead in the S12s.
Glad you enjoy them. Thank you for the impressions.
Totally agree on with you. I passed on the S12s (too bright)and the Hook x (too expensive). I still like my P1Max, but needs power. Most planars need power to drive them. The Wu’s bass is the best so far in planars IMO. So good so far.
@@sagaman4785 Nice! I wish they had chosen a full resin body to build them. Yeah, planars are power hungry, that's why I decided to get the 7Hz 71. I can say that the 71 delivers a lot of power and my planars sound the best with it.
I use the ifi Hipdac with mine.
I've compared the S12 to the Wu and I agree with Dave completely. The S12 with the Dave's recommended double flange tips from CTM make them way more comfortable and sound incredible! And I've since returned the Wu...
I recently tried these, and also got silicon tips in the foam section...I agree with you on fit and overall sound. I would say P1 Max is the overall winner so far, I just wish it would be more compatible with mobile sources.
Interesting about the foam tips. P1 Max is the clear winner in my opinion. Thank you for the comment.
Foam tips drastically decrease bass and treble performance.. Spinfit cp100 work extremely well in bringing out the true potential of an iem. These changed many iems for me and in the best way.
I tried the silicone tips and made the Wu to sibilant. Switched to foams and now perfect. HBB has a squig graph on the Wu for both silicone and foams.
@@sagaman4785 ah okay, like I said it does change but that can be a good thing. I used foams on timeless and it saved it for me.
@@ItsJustChase Good idea. Had a hard time finding something that works on my Timeless, foams are good on them.
Tin hifi P1max is probably the best planar iem of 2022❤, I don’t regret paying 180 dollars for early bird price. Well worth the price,it’s even cheaper now. I don’t know how the p1max takes all this power and eq without distortion 🐐am running it off ibasso dco6(320mW/32Ω from the balanced output) insane 🤯
I agree, P1 Max is amazing! Currently on sale on Linsoul for $99.
Thanks for the great review as usual! I'm amazed at how many products the chi-fi industry can churn out!?
It is amazing how many products are churned out and how fast as well.
Got mine for $88 and I'm really pleased by the Zetian. I just wish the purple were more subdued.
$88 good deal. Glad you enjoy the Zetian. It's a pretty bold purple design for sure.
Great review..I wish the IEM tier list also includes a column referring to the nature of IEM - Planar/DD/BA - Filtering and comparing would be lot easier since there are already enough planars in the market. Thanks
That's a good idea, I'll see what I can do. Might be a little bit before that is updated.
I disagree with almost everything you said about the sound of these. The Bass is quality over quantity, the sparkle and energy you refer to that bothered you, I didn't detect that at all. The Wu does not struggle with detail retrieval. Not in any way. "Fun and engaging" as you said describes it well, so I guess I don't disagree with that point. I prefer dynamic driver bass, but the bass on these is engaging and accurate. Never overwhelming. I returned mine because they're purple (c'mon) and I enjoy dynamic driver bass more, but I really kinda miss these.
Glad you enjoyed them. Thank you for the impressions.
Idk if you review tws. Have a look at the "oppo enco x2" tws, it's a planar tws. And imo it's one of the best sounding tws beating the airpods pro 2 and sonys, sound almost like a 80-100 dollar iem.
TWS aren't really my thing. Sounds interesting. Thank you for the suggestion.
@@TheHonestAudiophile they are a planar tws, hence suggested it. And imo, beats all tws out there in terms of sound.
i dont know why many other reviewers hype this product so much i know the best planer iem is timeless it is better than the rest and many other 500 dollars iem thanks Dave for give us your honest review
My pleasure, you're welcome.
@@TheHonestAudiophile which planer iem is your fav sir
1. Tin Hifi P1 Max
2. Shuoer S12
3. 7hz Timeless
4. Tin Hifi P1 Plus
@@TheHonestAudiophile you like a bright and flat sound signature right?
@@mokisan I like a neutral and natural sound.

Hello. Are you going to review the Heyday edition? Really interested to hear your review
HeyDay are on the review schedule.
@@TheHonestAudiophile Great! looking forward
Thanks for the review. Very helpful. I have the Timeless and the S12 which I like but I've been looking at these, the Tins and the Dioko as alternative or complementary planars.
My pleasure, you're welcome. Glad you found the video helpful.
Interesting… currently my thoughts are: Wu > Timeless > P1 Max > S12 > Dioko … for me bass was clean, cleaner than timeless or s12… mine had too much energy from 4-7k, that’s my biggest complaint, I want a little less there. I wouldn’t mind a tad more air… overall appreciate your honest impressions…
You might want to try foams, smooths out the high end!
@@sagaman4785 I use foams on everything haha
@@sagaman4785 Wu so far is my favorite of the planars
@@HobbyTalk I just use them on a couple of my planars. Zeos loves foams (ha ha). I think he uses them on most everything.
I use foam on mine and I don’t think the bass is overdone. To me there’s too much in the upper mids and lower treble. The real problem is I have to send these back to China. So I’ll never buy directly from China again.
Good review Dave! These are more for fun and not as technical as other planars, but good for rock music. I really think for $100,the p1 Max is the best. Kinera Celest Goo-me-ho is out for $50. Might be worth reviewing.
Celest in house for review.
P1 Max is hard to beat, especially now that it's on sale for $99.
How it compares to Letshuoer s12?
@@gs-nq6mw P1 Max and S12 are both compared in the video to the Tangzu.
@@gs-nq6mw Zetian Wu probably has more bass, more midrange, but treble peak is lower. I don’t have any of the s12 models, so I can’t really say. I only have the p1 Max, 7hz Timeless original, Tangzu Zetian Wu, and PMV PP. If I were to buy the s12, I would buy the s12 pros when they are on sale because the cable is better.
I am yet to get my first new gen planar iem (I have the OG P1 but thats ancient), so which one do you feel closely resembels the LCD-X 2021 with its typical planar slam, will be great to have that in a portable form factor.
You won't get anything remotely close in dynamic slam comparing a headphone to an IEM. BUT with that said, the P1 Max is probably the closest in sound signature to the LCD-X.
Thanks your excellent and honest review mate. Please also consider reviewing Letshuoer D13.
You're welcome for the review. Thank you for the suggestion.
Nice review! this was on my short list now I guess will skip it, hope you also review the new Shouer S12 Pro.
Thank you for the suggestion. If one is provided or the funds become available, I'll give the S12 Pro a listen and review.
Not sure you’re communicating criticism of the bass with that mad scientist grin.
It's apparently pronounced "Zay-cian"
Apparently these have some qc issues too. Some people are getting them with problems or problems develop over time.
It is crazy how overhyped some of these iems are. The "audiophiles" got everyone thinking truthear zeros are great. They are working overtime to get everyone thinking these are "the best planar yet"
The so-called audiophiles really like their bass. If only a major company would come along and give them that...
Great review...thanks for saving me some money.
I'm glad you found the review helpful. Thank you for the comment.
Maybe a bit late, but, what's wrong with zero reds? I was looking to buy them.
I've had no qc issues with the Zero Red.
@@TheHonestAudiophile Thanks
@DrinkWater713 my pleasure, you're welcome
Good video 🙂👍🏼. You know I'm a bit of an imaging junkie, this doesn't seem to be a strength here and seems little thicc. Prolly okay iem like you said, but with its booboos, from what ppl I trust say; so prolly not in my interest albeit I am sucker for planar 😑, so onto the next, in my case. Good to know. 🫡
If you're wanting a fun, bassy sounding IEM that's planar then take a look at this one. But if you care about technical stuff, look elsewhere like the P1 Max, S12 and Timeless.
I don't know what this guy is talking about. What source did he use on what tracks.
Music list in the description. Gear used is mentioned in the video and listed in the description.
