It makes decent sense that he lost to rookie heroes. Mostly since it was likely the first time Hawkmoth actually used his Miraculous for the first time in a couple years. He likely stopped using it after Adrien was born and only began to use them like a month after Emily went into a coma. And Emily ‘disappeared’ around when Adrien reached the age he is during the show, if not like a month before. I think.
I just like how much foreshadowing they gave in Miraculous Ladybug for the classmates of Marinette that get a miraculous. >Evillustraitor makes any kind of object he wants just like the Goat Miraculous. (Genesis-make any object he wants) >Reverser can make people do anything he wants, such as making ladybug and cat noir go ver clumsy and or scared, it basically is him wishing something and it comes true such as Rooster. (Sublimation-can do anything he wishes to do) >Princess Fragrance basically makes everyone a happy and loyal servant and just like the Pig Miraculous. (Gift-makes someone see their greatest wish and makes them happy) >Timebreaker can go back in time just like Bunny. (Burrow-go back or forward in time) >Stone Heart is literally invincible to attacks just like the Bull. (Resistance-cant be affected by attacks) >Horrificator can change in size just like the Mouse miraculous tho not multiply. (Multitude-multiply) >Riposte and Oni-Chan both have swords and fast agility just like the Dragon Miraculous. Sabrina was that supervillain (forgot the name) that takes miraculous powers with that stick thing or whatever she was holding kind of like the dog miraculous' power which takes things using the ball

This is something people got wrong with the akumatized villains powers but Hawkmoth is not the one who design them. For example: Timebreaker took other people lives as a way of getting revenge for having the watch broken. Or in puppeteer where Manon wanted those dolls therefore they are crucial to her powers. The weakness are linked to the villain's personality.

My favorites storywise: ° Volpina - she tricked the heroes to believe, trust and work with her ° Copycat - lured Chat Noir into a trap to shackle him ° Stormy Weather - made the duo work together perfectly to defeat her ° Lady WiFi - locked them in a room with no escape ° Evilustrator - captured Marichat in a glass cube!!! ° Anitbug - took Chat Noir hostage, tied him up and hung him over the balcony to pressure Ladybug ° Darkblade - made Chat use his combat tactics and showed his importance ° Simon Says - attacked Gabriel - hilarious! All in all: I like episodes with Chat 😁
also ading to the evillustrator : he captured chat noir in two occasions, almost killed 3 people and was pretty near to get his own objective, just an amazing akuma
The majority of the time, Gabe really struggles with how to balance the powers he gives out. If he had the Peacock during Anti-Bug, I can definitely imagine there being a kind of fake Noir, my idea would be a robotic clone of him, same powers and all. I can imagine Robo Noir/ Chat-Robo being the bigger issue. Which would be more dangerous? A Brittney Bitch in a reversed Ladybug suit or a Robotic Clone of Chat Noir which has multiple charges of Cataclysm and functions on their own for the most part? Most villains from Season 1 or 2 which weren’t very good would be buffed majorly with a single Amok being yeeted around. That’s how to balance the weaker villains, add a second villain to fight which won’t turn on you.
I do agree with your tiers, but you shouldn't judge them based on what they did vs what they could've done in the episode, because when hawk moth akumatizes someone they all have a seperate goal and sometimes they are stupid because they care more about the goal than just fighting for the miraculous, I also believe that hawk moth doesn't choose the power/weakness and it depends on the person's will and emotions, that's why if someone is willing to be akumatized they'll be strong, but they'll automatically have a weakness that corresponds to the weakness in their personality; just exaggerated as super powers.
And plus if he makes them too strong they could betray him like robustas and Simon says and if he makes them too weak they loses instantly so it would be better if he found a way to make them in between strong and average
An unforseen plus for Pixelator is the fact that if his victims aren't entirely "in-frame", the part that's in-frame is pixelated and doesn't interact with anything. So if he took photos of the heroes that explicitly don't include their miraculouses, they'd phase through the floor with their miraculouses being up for grabs.
Honestly, Stormy Weather for me is god tier. Lady WiFi, despite her glaring weakness, is also pretty high tier, given that she had Ladybug in a situation where *she could have won*, but smooth-brain Gabe decided to let Ladybug use her lucky charm instead of just removing her miraculous. Overall, great list. Would love to see ones for the other seasons.
Miss Wifi was also a smootg-brain, by trying to take off ladybug´s MASK!!! And what did Hawk Moth say? Miraculous!! Who doesn´t know the earrings are her miraculous???

I love how diverse the villians motives are. You have simple stuff, like how Kim was mad about being made fun of/rejected, so he wanted to make other people mad. And then ya got Evilustrator, who tries to litterly *murder* his classmate lmao
I get the feeling that in season 1 they wanted the villains to have drawbacks to they're powers, a need to build up power, or a glaring weakness. It gives the heroes something to exploit and makes each villain a puzzle instead of a scavenger hunt for the Akuma. It also meant that gabe could make them busted a heck but not unbeatable. That, or all the charge time and weaknesses were because gabe was inexperienced .
Evillustrator is the best akumatized villain in my opinion. He just wanted to go on a date with Mari and he wasn't even pushy about it. He was even willing to stop attacking Chloe.
He was the least villain of the villains. He just wanted to romance Mari. It brings into question the ship with the other guy (the Reverser, I forgot his actual name). My guess would be he’s Bi or smth.
I think Miracle Queen would be bottom and Cat Blanc top tiers, just based on episode plots, plus her mind control power was used before by other villains, and definitely better than hers imo
Gabriel can't choose his akumatized villains' powers, they're reliant on his victims emotions, desires, circumstances and goals. Like in Risk, we saw him feeling Mr Ramier's negative emotions first, but he couldn't give him the power set he wanted cause his emotions were once again related to pigeons, so he needed to search further for someone that fullfilled the circumstances to become a risk based villain.
Dark Blade and Simon Says are my favorite villains, more so Dark Blade since I really love his design (I love medieval knights and some of the designs they have, hence why I say I favor Dark Blade’s design more). The mind control power itself is goated when used right, and of course, being able to use mind control against people (or in the case of Simon Says, being able to disable powers with commands) is so awesome! So yeah, those two are my favorites in terms of the powers and their designs. But I definitely agree that Mr Pigeon is a really bad idea Gabe even bothered to create. Kinda surprised Gabe doesn’t try to reakumatize some of the higher tier villains, but oh well
About gabe choosing the power, I dont think he does I think each power is tailed to the person thats why gabe is semi selective of who gets akumatized. Like in risk he didn't just look for any random person he looked for someone who's specific emotion would get him what he needed, or how he akumatized natalee because she was willing and wanted to help so she got a power to reflect that
While that is true, he doesn't have to use his power to get any sort of edge like Reflekta. Her only ability is to change those into her without controlling them, while Dark Knight can control those he changes and fight the heroes head on.
@@giacomoaluotto4053 I wouldn't be too sure. Negative emotions can still happen, and HM doesn't know who she is, so he would probably just accumatise her into Reflekta. Most of the heroes do not have their miraculous on them at all times.

Even though he’s an adult, Hawk Moth’s Miraculous still isn’t as powerful as Ladybug and Cat Noir’s because the powers that he gives to his victims are based on whatever problems they have so sometimes they have to get more energy to achieve their goals and some of the weaknesses are based on their personalities like Horrificator’s, but I agree with you on Animan, Reflekta and the God-tier villain’s powers.
You forgot the invisible and i think she goes in the good category because yes if she isnt foound out she is pretty strong but if powder its all it need to be discovered that gives her a disavantage because she dosnt have any other power other then invisibility
I don’t know, I think I still would have put Stormy Weather into God tier even if we’re going solely off of season one. I feel she had so much raw destructive power even then and if I’m remembering it correctly she really didn’t have any particularly exploitable weakness. Like season one started off with one hell of a bang. I agree to an extent that if they have mind control then it jumps them to high tier from go but they really need to be able to stand on their own as well. Idk maybe it’s just me but I think she would have been enough to make god tier without mind control.
I agree with your ranking, but you forgot a villan: Vanisher. In the antibug episode, Gabe actualy made 2 villans. If I were to rank her, I'd put her low to mid tier. It's just invisibility, nothing more. What I like a lot about the villans is their creative design and powers. A lot of them, season 1 and beyond, have very fun and creative powers that are beyond a copy of the heroes or just basic strength and speed. Those powers were what got me hooked in the first place to the show
Evillustrator will always be my favourite because i'M oBvIoUsLy nOt BiAsEd. But yeah, he has very great power and he legit almost killed people like- bruh. Being able to draw anything to live? And I think he would've been successful if Gabe gave him a normal tablet that has a glowing screen like every other electronic device have but no, the heroes must win in season 1 lmao.
THANK YOU! I forgot Pixelator even existed until this video. I also remember forgetting Miraculous for years until December of 2020 when I found out there was a season 3. I still remebered most of the season one villains,,so when I saw Pixelator I thought he was new but then I saw the episode number and was like "wait,what?" then I remembered shit.
Most of the issues with these villians are: "Why Gabe just can't give power to destroy enemies with snap of the finger?!?!?!" Because it would be freaking boring The rules, power downs, and limits are needed also because the villian shouldn't be stronger than Gabe, or they'll just keep the miraculouses to themselve
I think Animan is the best. Even if he gets tired, Shapeshifting is actually a really strong power. You could use electric eel powers or sperm whale powers to stun enemies underwater. I could use hummingbird powers to avoid getting hit. I could go on and on.
Its almost unbelievable, especially Stormy Weather. None of the episode and specials have ever top that episode, thats literally the best episode of the whole show in term of animation quality
The only thing I don't agree with this video is the trash talk on Evillustrator's costume. I think it's at the least pretty solid, if not actually quite good. BTW, not sure if it was on purpose, but you missing Vanisher is very on brand for the character, lol.
The obvious weakness as of Risk sort of reveals that he has limitations on what he can give based on the person. It might be precisely why some of the Akuma choices he simply works with instead of just trying again. Something if I recall we never knew Hawkmoth can sus out someone with the perfect negative emotion to suit the power he wants to give. The weaknesses are more meta than anything but if you ignore that its probably something he doesn't necessarily want to do. As far as say Catalyst is concerned this was a willing participant who 1.) Wanted to serve Gabe 2.) As a literal goal wants to support him and be his strength hence her power
On the “can’t he choose the power?!?” front I’ve always just head-canoned that the more willing some is to be Akumatised the more Gabe has control over the Akuma’s Form (power/appearance) and otherwise the Form of the Akuma just takes on an embodiment of the person’s emotions/mind state cause the Butterfly is the Miraculous of Emotion This is why sometimes a Villian gets powers with a thematic weakness and sometimes (like Natalie) the powers are full custom
I would love a video where you rank the compatibility between the wielders chosen by Marinette and the miraculous they're given. Some of them I think are great choices, but I would love to see your opinion!
About your opinion that Dark Cupid should have mind control: The Butterfly Miraculous supposedly gives powers based on the recipient's situation/desire. Kim wanted no one to have love, Roger wants to punish people who break the law, etc. Also I agree, mind control villains are obvious top tier. (And it still pi$$ed off younger me when HawkMoth changed her powers in Puppeteer 2. She could've used the statues as "dolls")
Well, it WAS season 1. Hawkmoth just started making villains. I think it takes a while for him to get a hang of giving people certain powers at full strength, so he could only give them the ability, and then they have to do the other half of the work for him to make it more powerful.
I feel like the Bubbler actually can be used correctly, just have them suffocate or time out in the bubble. Either get the miraculous or the information on who the holders are. Most of the others I can get, but the Bubbler actually does not have a weakness of actually destroying the miraculous.
The reason so many season 1 villains have all these weaknesses is because Hawk Moth is just as new to this as Ladybug and Cat Noir. Once he reakumatizes Lady Wi-fi, she has satellite connection. When Puppeteer comes back, she can directly control the statues which were already with her. Etc.
The only reason I can imagine Hawkmoth adding these weaknesses is so they won’t betray him after they get the Miraculous. The first Markov one (I think that’s called Robustesk or smth) was powerful and very smart, being a small robot that helped revive dinosaurs and all. So Hawkmoth was probably like “If I just gave these guys ridiculous powers right off the bat without a drawback, they’d probably try murder me. So I’m gonna add a drawback so they won’t do that!” The only issue is that a villain would need to be strong enough to beat him to beat the heroes, if not stronger. Hence why some of the newer villains are way more jacked up as he has more Miraculouses, and is more powerful.
He didn't give them the weakness, every power has its weakness, when u see someone given a power, the person giving it to them doesn't say also u are weak this, no, that's just the downside to having great power
As I remember, Puppeteer, a little girl, not just outsmarted the heroes, but also ONLY lost due to bugging out for a whole minute because she was offscreen so she couldn´t be animated and was therefore unable to move while ladybug activated her most powerful plotarmor as of yet...maybe I am remembering wrong but I am pretty sure that´s how it went down after she controlled Cat Noir... Edit: Yes I just watched it to check, Ladydumdum literally threw her own doll away. Then made no effort to secure it (it doesn´t matter if Alya got it first, pupeteer could also literally telephatically attract them towards herself) and then once she has it she literally doesn´t move until she was smugly defeated because otherwise she would have won. Also in the meantime Ladybug also just randomly learned the power to deflect the copdudes powers onto others but whatever...
Smarty pants is showing off his smooth brain on a few villains I feel like the bubbler should be higher tier he said he could suffocate people so that solves that problem
I don't think hawkmoth can control what his victim's power gonna be , I think it's up to his akumatized subjects and I guess he make guesses of what's their power going to be
I do wonder what limitations Hawk Moth has in granting people powers. While he does seem to have some sway on what form it takes, this seems to be a sort of wish fulfillment. Gamer seems to of modeled his powers over the video game he was hung up about at the time, a game Gabe likely doesn't play. I can understand Timebreaker needing to build up speed to jump through time, skating seems to be her thing after all, but I'm a bit baffled by her need tag people first. This is another power that could destroy a miraculous before she can collect it. On the other hand if she could travel back in time when ever she wanted, even if she needed a minute or two to build up speed, then she wouldn't of been around long enough to lure out Ladybug and Cat Noir, jumping into the past to try and fix her watch, which she would keep doing until she got it right. Copycat might of just been wishing to much to be Cat Noir and fully copied him while Antibug is impulsive and more aggressive, giving her a sword instead because she isn't as creative and wouldn't figure it out. I feel like the power of illusions would be a lot more useful if someone smarter was using it. Lila is such a pathological liar I'm surprised more people don't call her on her BS. She opted to be rather showy when she introduced herself, giving herself two powers with her opening play. She also bluffed to hard with her conjured missiles. After that her plan just sort of fell apart. Ladybug/Multimouse and Rena Rouge were able to make better use of her powers. She made very good just of it in Hero's Day, but I get the feeling Hawk Moth told her what to do. Risk showed Shadow Moth passing over several people while looking for a potential villain he wanted. This does tell me he is restrained somewhat by the people he akumatizes, as the power needs to help them in their goals in some way.
im kind of sad the show never did anything more with the akumas multipling thing. the first episode establishes what happens when the akuma isnt captured, id live a situation where a powererfull villan was made but ladybug couldnt get the akuma because she was put into a situation where she couldnt. like heros day but less heroes and the villan is directly made worse by ladybug. like stone heart was tutorial but final boss shows you the pay off from what youve learned
I really gotta say the ranking that you did for the season one villains of miraculous you did that really well and really good and I just hope that sooner or later that you do the same thing for the other seasons and villains
Was brung into it by Netflix, then stopped liking it, then was brung back into it by one of the characters. Also, The Pharaoh’s non-akuma self (Jalil, my favourite character) has many weird theories throughout the series.
If this wasn’t a show where the hero’s had to win Hawkmoth could just make a villain that use their power to immediately hypnotized everyone in Paris, tell lady and chat noir to bring their miraculous. End of story And, stormy weather would defeat them if well, it wasn’t a kids show

Technically he still would for the wish (unless he just Idk gave himself the power to make his own desires realty or something messing with time or wishes(considering wishmaker it is definitely possible) and was actually just smart and used the peacock miraculous to give him what he wants without needing to be the bad guy especially if we consider the untapped potential of catalyst especially if they made someone with the power to reverse ones physical condition to a previous state to reverse Natalie to pre peacock miraculous damage and then catalyst upgrade himself by for example just increasing the potency of any power he gives to his akumatized villains

I will say this about Animan as he is one of the adult villains and on the older side as he's Alya's dad but if he was younger then I think he would definitly a harder challenge and I think even in his current age, he's still a hard villian.

Dark Cupid on his own is alright but with other villains his op like in the s2 finale he was the last villian standing and was the most unselfish for scarlet moth
I'm not sure if the exclusion of vanisher is intended or not because she isn't the main villain in her episode however she still does count as an akumatized villain. I would personally put her in the good tier cause if she is quiet enough she can steal the miraculous's without ladybug or cat noir noticing until it's to late also her power doesn't ware off so yeah she is pretty good
I think the problem is we don’t know how the butterfly miraculous works, so when Hawk Moth says that such and such is going to be a masterpiece it means nothing to the viewers because we don’t know the parameters to making a good villain is. The writers have a bad habit of flip flopping between HM to him designing the villain to a roll of the dice. Personal if had to chose I’d have the villains power set be determined by what’s causing their negativity with no say from the butterfly miraculous holder but if the villain was willingly akumatized then he could tailor make the abilities to counter the heroes.
2:32 basically all he gotta do to become an ant eater. Dont get fooled by their looks, they got sharp claws that can slice through your stomach and make you become a “was”. they’re the only animal that jaguars fear.
All gabe has to do is akumatize himself as something very powerful and then multiply himself/ let the akuma multiply itself. Then, natalie has to make the multiplayer sentimonster and put all of the already multiplied akumas into the sentimonster 2x so its quadrupled, then just akumatize everyone.

You know, he keeps saying that there’s a bunch of glaring weaknesses with every villain, but he doesn’t realize it all has to do with THEATRICALITY. That does kinda fits with Gabriel’s personality as it relates to his Hawkmoth persona. Why does Gamer have to level up, because that’s how video games work, and Max seems like the kind of person who wouldn’t like to cheat at a video game. Why are there limitations on the villains? Well, to be honest it’s probably because the people who write the show need the villains to lose and it needs to be obvious how the lose for the young audience (that the show is made for) to understand what’s going on. But also who is to say that the limits are made up BY Hawkmoth? Are we sure that he has absolute control over every part of his villains’ powers and weaknesses and even the costumes? The show doesn’t care about the fine details. Only that there’s bright colors and funny sounding characters. Again, this show is make FOR KIDS. And I’m sure most of us here aren’t kids. But I’m not saying that kids are dumb or anything, I’m just saying that the people making the show probably didn’t put in as much thought into these things as the rest of us.
The thing is reflected as have a solid chance against ladybug and cat Noir because if he turns one of them into her, that leaves them out of the fight and makes it so that they can tackle ladybug by herself or vice versa and then when you have one of the miraculous is use it to defeat the other along with being hidden amongst lots of civilians you can easily speak attack them and whenever they are coming close to attacking you you can hide in the masses
Where is Vanisher!? Well, anyway, to me I'd say she'd be in the middle team, because she is able to take the miraculous without them even seeing her coming! And she may only have one power, but she also has really good fighting skills and has the elememt of surprise. Which, I'd say is a very key ability to have to steal any jewelry. But this is my opinion, what do you guys think?
I think what would have been a good idea is to have Gabe give them any power he wanted but with some kind of drawback it would have explained alot of the weaknesses of the villains it could be true but there's nothing that suggests to that, in fact I think all miraculouses should have some drawbacks no matter the age and the only way to overcome these is if you truly master your miraculos because up until season four there hasn't been any consequences for the heroes
I think the reason many of the powers of many of these villains have some obvious downsides is that that Hawk Moth is just making up these powers on the spot without much prior consideration. The guy is opportunist, sending Akumas the minute he senses someone suffering some emotional distress; not a lot of time properly planning out the right OP power to get some magical jewelry.
I always thought that Gabe couldn’t control the weaknesses of the akuma. In the origin, Nooroo says the miraculous aren’t supposed to be used for evil, so I always kind of assumed the weaknesses were an automatic fail safe the user can’t control to prevent too much harm
Mister Pigeon is just proof that this entire series wouldn't happen if Paris had a good therapist. Apparently the reason he gets akumatized so much is because he is just that easily triggered. Gabe isn't akumatizing him because he's a good combatant, he's just doing it because he can't be arsed to make someone else pissed.
For Puppeteer, why didn’t Gabriel tell her to go to a toy store? We know Ladybug and Cat Noir merch exists, if they exist long enough for people to make a full-length movie and costumes, there have to be toys, right? The fight would’ve been over before the heroes knew there was a villain on the loose.

It makes decent sense that he lost to rookie heroes. Mostly since it was likely the first time Hawkmoth actually used his Miraculous for the first time in a couple years. He likely stopped using it after Adrien was born and only began to use them like a month after Emily went into a coma.
And Emily ‘disappeared’ around when Adrien reached the age he is during the show, if not like a month before. I think.
I just like how much foreshadowing they gave in Miraculous Ladybug for the classmates of Marinette that get a miraculous.

This is something people got wrong with the akumatized villains powers but Hawkmoth is not the one who design them. For example: Timebreaker took other people lives as a way of getting revenge for having the watch broken.
Or in puppeteer where Manon wanted those dolls therefore they are crucial to her powers. The weakness are linked to the villain's personality.

° Volpina - she tricked the heroes to believe, trust and work with her
° Copycat - lured Chat Noir into a trap to shackle him
° Stormy Weather - made the duo work together perfectly to defeat her
° Lady WiFi - locked them in a room with no escape
° Evilustrator - captured Marichat in a glass cube!!!
° Anitbug - took Chat Noir hostage, tied him up and hung him over the balcony to pressure Ladybug
° Darkblade - made Chat use his combat tactics and showed his importance
° Simon Says - attacked Gabriel - hilarious!
All in all: I like episodes with Chat 😁

The majority of the time, Gabe really struggles with how to balance the powers he gives out.
If he had the Peacock during Anti-Bug, I can definitely imagine there being a kind of fake Noir, my idea would be a robotic clone of him, same powers and all. I can imagine Robo Noir/ Chat-Robo being the bigger issue. Which would be more dangerous? A Brittney Bitch in a reversed Ladybug suit or a Robotic Clone of Chat Noir which has multiple charges of Cataclysm and functions on their own for the most part?
Most villains from Season 1 or 2 which weren’t very good would be buffed majorly with a single Amok being yeeted around. That’s how to balance the weaker villains, add a second villain to fight which won’t turn on you.

I do agree with your tiers, but you shouldn't judge them based on what they did vs what they could've done in the episode, because when hawk moth akumatizes someone they all have a seperate goal and sometimes they are stupid because they care more about the goal than just fighting for the miraculous, I also believe that hawk moth doesn't choose the power/weakness and it depends on the person's will and emotions, that's why if someone is willing to be akumatized they'll be strong, but they'll automatically have a weakness that corresponds to the weakness in their personality; just exaggerated as super powers.
I also reckon Nooroo is interfering here a little bit to make things easier for the heroes, as a little FU to Gabe.
And plus if he makes them too strong they could betray him like robustas and Simon says and if he makes them too weak they loses instantly so it would be better if he found a way to make them in between strong and average

An unforseen plus for Pixelator is the fact that if his victims aren't entirely "in-frame", the part that's in-frame is pixelated and doesn't interact with anything. So if he took photos of the heroes that explicitly don't include their miraculouses, they'd phase through the floor with their miraculouses being up for grabs.
Honestly, Stormy Weather for me is god tier. Lady WiFi, despite her glaring weakness, is also pretty high tier, given that she had Ladybug in a situation where *she could have won*, but smooth-brain Gabe decided to let Ladybug use her lucky charm instead of just removing her miraculous.
Overall, great list. Would love to see ones for the other seasons.

I love how diverse the villians motives are. You have simple stuff, like how Kim was mad about being made fun of/rejected, so he wanted to make other people mad. And then ya got Evilustrator, who tries to litterly *murder* his classmate lmao
I get the feeling that in season 1 they wanted the villains to have drawbacks to they're powers, a need to build up power, or a glaring weakness. It gives the heroes something to exploit and makes each villain a puzzle instead of a scavenger hunt for the Akuma. It also meant that gabe could make them busted a heck but not unbeatable.
That, or all the charge time and weaknesses were because gabe was inexperienced .
Evillustrator is the best akumatized villain in my opinion. He just wanted to go on a date with Mari and he wasn't even pushy about it. He was even willing to stop attacking Chloe.

I’m very excited to see this done for the other seasons-Season 3 being one of my favourites.
I think Miracle Queen would be bottom and Cat Blanc top tiers, just based on episode plots, plus her mind control power was used before by other villains, and definitely better than hers imo
Gabriel can't choose his akumatized villains' powers, they're reliant on his victims emotions, desires, circumstances and goals. Like in Risk, we saw him feeling Mr Ramier's negative emotions first, but he couldn't give him the power set he wanted cause his emotions were once again related to pigeons, so he needed to search further for someone that fullfilled the circumstances to become a risk based villain.
Dark Blade and Simon Says are my favorite villains, more so Dark Blade since I really love his design (I love medieval knights and some of the designs they have, hence why I say I favor Dark Blade’s design more). The mind control power itself is goated when used right, and of course, being able to use mind control against people (or in the case of Simon Says, being able to disable powers with commands) is so awesome! So yeah, those two are my favorites in terms of the powers and their designs. But I definitely agree that Mr Pigeon is a really bad idea Gabe even bothered to create. Kinda surprised Gabe doesn’t try to reakumatize some of the higher tier villains, but oh well

About gabe choosing the power, I dont think he does I think each power is tailed to the person thats why gabe is semi selective of who gets akumatized. Like in risk he didn't just look for any random person he looked for someone who's specific emotion would get him what he needed, or how he akumatized natalee because she was willing and wanted to help so she got a power to reflect that
My slight problem with Dark Problem is that with his army, if he mind controls any hero they loss a miraculous like Reflexdoll.
While that is true, he doesn't have to use his power to get any sort of edge like Reflekta. Her only ability is to change those into her without controlling them, while Dark Knight can control those he changes and fight the heroes head on.

Even though he’s an adult, Hawk Moth’s Miraculous still isn’t as powerful as Ladybug and Cat Noir’s because the powers that he gives to his victims are based on whatever problems they have so sometimes they have to get more energy to achieve their goals and some of the weaknesses are based on their personalities like Horrificator’s, but I agree with you on Animan, Reflekta and the God-tier villain’s powers.
Hawkmoth low mid tier idea is him playing copycat with the miraculous, that book certainly gave him inspiration….

I don’t know, I think I still would have put Stormy Weather into God tier even if we’re going solely off of season one. I feel she had so much raw destructive power even then and if I’m remembering it correctly she really didn’t have any particularly exploitable weakness. Like season one started off with one hell of a bang. I agree to an extent that if they have mind control then it jumps them to high tier from go but they really need to be able to stand on their own as well. Idk maybe it’s just me but I think she would have been enough to make god tier without mind control.

I agree with your ranking, but you forgot a villan: Vanisher. In the antibug episode, Gabe actualy made 2 villans. If I were to rank her, I'd put her low to mid tier. It's just invisibility, nothing more.
What I like a lot about the villans is their creative design and powers. A lot of them, season 1 and beyond, have very fun and creative powers that are beyond a copy of the heroes or just basic strength and speed. Those powers were what got me hooked in the first place to the show
Evillustrator will always be my favourite because i'M oBvIoUsLy nOt BiAsEd. But yeah, he has very great power and he legit almost killed people like- bruh. Being able to draw anything to live? And I think he would've been successful if Gabe gave him a normal tablet that has a glowing screen like every other electronic device have but no, the heroes must win in season 1 lmao.

THANK YOU! I forgot Pixelator even existed until this video. I also remember forgetting Miraculous for years until December of 2020 when I found out there was a season 3. I still remebered most of the season one villains,,so when I saw Pixelator I thought he was new but then I saw the episode number and was like "wait,what?" then I remembered shit.

I think Animan is the best. Even if he gets tired, Shapeshifting is actually a really strong power. You could use electric eel powers or sperm whale powers to stun enemies underwater. I could use hummingbird powers to avoid getting hit. I could go on and on.

Answer to side rant: maybe the research lapsed in this episode. They just thought the coolest Egyptian names and created their own fan fiction for it.
The obvious weakness as of Risk sort of reveals that he has limitations on what he can give based on the person. It might be precisely why some of the Akuma choices he simply works with instead of just trying again. Something if I recall we never knew Hawkmoth can sus out someone with the perfect negative emotion to suit the power he wants to give.
The weaknesses are more meta than anything but if you ignore that its probably something he doesn't necessarily want to do. As far as say Catalyst is concerned this was a willing participant who 1.) Wanted to serve Gabe 2.) As a literal goal wants to support him and be his strength hence her power
On the “can’t he choose the power?!?” front
I’ve always just head-canoned that the more willing some is to be Akumatised the more Gabe has control over the Akuma’s Form (power/appearance) and otherwise the Form of the Akuma just takes on an embodiment of the person’s emotions/mind state cause the Butterfly is the Miraculous of Emotion
This is why sometimes a Villian gets powers with a thematic weakness and sometimes (like Natalie) the powers are full custom
I would love a video where you rank the compatibility between the wielders chosen by Marinette and the miraculous they're given. Some of them I think are great choices, but I would love to see your opinion!

The Butterfly Miraculous supposedly gives powers based on the recipient's situation/desire. Kim wanted no one to have love, Roger wants to punish people who break the law, etc.

Well, it WAS season 1. Hawkmoth just started making villains. I think it takes a while for him to get a hang of giving people certain powers at full strength, so he could only give them the ability, and then they have to do the other half of the work for him to make it more powerful.

I feel like the Bubbler actually can be used correctly, just have them suffocate or time out in the bubble. Either get the miraculous or the information on who the holders are. Most of the others I can get, but the Bubbler actually does not have a weakness of actually destroying the miraculous.
The reason so many season 1 villains have all these weaknesses is because Hawk Moth is just as new to this as Ladybug and Cat Noir. Once he reakumatizes Lady Wi-fi, she has satellite connection. When Puppeteer comes back, she can directly control the statues which were already with her. Etc.

The only reason I can imagine Hawkmoth adding these weaknesses is so they won’t betray him after they get the Miraculous.
The first Markov one (I think that’s called Robustesk or smth) was powerful and very smart, being a small robot that helped revive dinosaurs and all.
So Hawkmoth was probably like “If I just gave these guys ridiculous powers right off the bat without a drawback, they’d probably try murder me. So I’m gonna add a drawback so they won’t do that!” The only issue is that a villain would need to be strong enough to beat him to beat the heroes, if not stronger. Hence why some of the newer villains are way more jacked up as he has more Miraculouses, and is more powerful.
He didn't give them the weakness, every power has its weakness, when u see someone given a power, the person giving it to them doesn't say also u are weak this, no, that's just the downside to having great power
As I remember, Puppeteer, a little girl, not just outsmarted the heroes, but also ONLY lost due to bugging out for a whole minute because she was offscreen so she couldn´t be animated and was therefore unable to move while ladybug activated her most powerful plotarmor as of yet...maybe I am remembering wrong but I am pretty sure that´s how it went down after she controlled Cat Noir...
Edit: Yes I just watched it to check, Ladydumdum literally threw her own doll away. Then made no effort to secure it (it doesn´t matter if Alya got it first, pupeteer could also literally telephatically attract them towards herself) and then once she has it she literally doesn´t move until she was smugly defeated because otherwise she would have won. Also in the meantime Ladybug also just randomly learned the power to deflect the copdudes powers onto others but whatever...

I do wonder what limitations Hawk Moth has in granting people powers. While he does seem to have some sway on what form it takes, this seems to be a sort of wish fulfillment. Gamer seems to of modeled his powers over the video game he was hung up about at the time, a game Gabe likely doesn't play. I can understand Timebreaker needing to build up speed to jump through time, skating seems to be her thing after all, but I'm a bit baffled by her need tag people first. This is another power that could destroy a miraculous before she can collect it. On the other hand if she could travel back in time when ever she wanted, even if she needed a minute or two to build up speed, then she wouldn't of been around long enough to lure out Ladybug and Cat Noir, jumping into the past to try and fix her watch, which she would keep doing until she got it right. Copycat might of just been wishing to much to be Cat Noir and fully copied him while Antibug is impulsive and more aggressive, giving her a sword instead because she isn't as creative and wouldn't figure it out.
I feel like the power of illusions would be a lot more useful if someone smarter was using it. Lila is such a pathological liar I'm surprised more people don't call her on her BS. She opted to be rather showy when she introduced herself, giving herself two powers with her opening play. She also bluffed to hard with her conjured missiles. After that her plan just sort of fell apart. Ladybug/Multimouse and Rena Rouge were able to make better use of her powers. She made very good just of it in Hero's Day, but I get the feeling Hawk Moth told her what to do.
Risk showed Shadow Moth passing over several people while looking for a potential villain he wanted. This does tell me he is restrained somewhat by the people he akumatizes, as the power needs to help them in their goals in some way.

im kind of sad the show never did anything more with the akumas multipling thing. the first episode establishes what happens when the akuma isnt captured, id live a situation where a powererfull villan was made but ladybug couldnt get the akuma because she was put into a situation where she couldnt. like heros day but less heroes and the villan is directly made worse by ladybug. like stone heart was tutorial but final boss shows you the pay off from what youve learned
I really gotta say the ranking that you did for the season one villains of miraculous you did that really well and really good and I just hope that sooner or later that you do the same thing for the other seasons and villains
Was brung into it by Netflix, then stopped liking it, then was brung back into it by one of the characters. Also, The Pharaoh’s non-akuma self (Jalil, my favourite character) has many weird theories throughout the series.
If this wasn’t a show where the hero’s had to win Hawkmoth could just make a villain that use their power to immediately hypnotized everyone in Paris, tell lady and chat noir to bring their miraculous. End of story

Dark Cupid on his own is alright but with other villains his op like in the s2 finale he was the last villian standing and was the most unselfish for scarlet moth
I'm not sure if the exclusion of vanisher is intended or not because she isn't the main villain in her episode however she still does count as an akumatized villain. I would personally put her in the good tier cause if she is quiet enough she can steal the miraculous's without ladybug or cat noir noticing until it's to late also her power doesn't ware off so yeah she is pretty good
I think the problem is we don’t know how the butterfly miraculous works, so when Hawk Moth says that such and such is going to be a masterpiece it means nothing to the viewers because we don’t know the parameters to making a good villain is. The writers have a bad habit of flip flopping between HM to him designing the villain to a roll of the dice. Personal if had to chose I’d have the villains power set be determined by what’s causing their negativity with no say from the butterfly miraculous holder but if the villain was willingly akumatized then he could tailor make the abilities to counter the heroes.
2:32 basically all he gotta do to become an ant eater. Dont get fooled by their looks, they got sharp claws that can slice through your stomach and make you become a “was”. they’re the only animal that jaguars fear.
Or an African Wild dog, They’re basically dogs on steroids that will chase you until you’re tired and then put an end to your life
Apparently there’s a theory that Jalil (Pharaoh) wanted to bring his dead mom back to life which fits with the whole Nefertiti thing 😊

All gabe has to do is akumatize himself as something very powerful and then multiply himself/ let the akuma multiply itself. Then, natalie has to make the multiplayer sentimonster and put all of the already multiplied akumas into the sentimonster 2x so its quadrupled, then just akumatize everyone.

You know, he keeps saying that there’s a bunch of glaring weaknesses with every villain, but he doesn’t realize it all has to do with THEATRICALITY. That does kinda fits with Gabriel’s personality as it relates to his Hawkmoth persona.
Why does Gamer have to level up, because that’s how video games work, and Max seems like the kind of person who wouldn’t like to cheat at a video game.
Why are there limitations on the villains? Well, to be honest it’s probably because the people who write the show need the villains to lose and it needs to be obvious how the lose for the young audience (that the show is made for) to understand what’s going on.
But also who is to say that the limits are made up BY Hawkmoth? Are we sure that he has absolute control over every part of his villains’ powers and weaknesses and even the costumes?
The show doesn’t care about the fine details. Only that there’s bright colors and funny sounding characters. Again, this show is make FOR KIDS. And I’m sure most of us here aren’t kids. But I’m not saying that kids are dumb or anything, I’m just saying that the people making the show probably didn’t put in as much thought into these things as the rest of us.
The thing is reflected as have a solid chance against ladybug and cat Noir because if he turns one of them into her, that leaves them out of the fight and makes it so that they can tackle ladybug by herself or vice versa and then when you have one of the miraculous is use it to defeat the other along with being hidden amongst lots of civilians you can easily speak attack them and whenever they are coming close to attacking you you can hide in the masses
When I was waching season 1 the ep I was enjoying the most were Dark Blade (I have a bit of a passion for everything middle ages) and Kung Food
Where is Vanisher!? Well, anyway, to me I'd say she'd be in the middle team, because she is able to take the miraculous without them even seeing her coming! And she may only have one power, but she also has really good fighting skills and has the elememt of surprise. Which, I'd say is a very key ability to have to steal any jewelry. But this is my opinion, what do you guys think?

I think what would have been a good idea is to have Gabe give them any power he wanted but with some kind of drawback it would have explained alot of the weaknesses of the villains it could be true but there's nothing that suggests to that, in fact I think all miraculouses should have some drawbacks no matter the age and the only way to overcome these is if you truly master your miraculos because up until season four there hasn't been any consequences for the heroes
It would of been more G.O.A.T. tier if Lady Wi-Fi had a portable Wi-Fi router as her object and then got a phone instead of just a phone.
I don't think Hawkmoth chooses the powers, they mostly originate from the victims desires, Gabe only instructs them on how to use it.
I think the reason many of the powers of many of these villains have some obvious downsides is that that Hawk Moth is just making up these powers on the spot without much prior consideration. The guy is opportunist, sending Akumas the minute he senses someone suffering some emotional distress; not a lot of time properly planning out the right OP power to get some magical jewelry.
I always thought that Gabe couldn’t control the weaknesses of the akuma. In the origin, Nooroo says the miraculous aren’t supposed to be used for evil, so I always kind of assumed the weaknesses were an automatic fail safe the user can’t control to prevent too much harm

Mister Pigeon is just proof that this entire series wouldn't happen if Paris had a good therapist. Apparently the reason he gets akumatized so much is because he is just that easily triggered. Gabe isn't akumatizing him because he's a good combatant, he's just doing it because he can't be arsed to make someone else pissed.
What about Vanisher?? Is it because she wasn't in in an episode that was named after her? Sabrina still got akumatized in Antibug y'know.
Can you do the other seasons next? They're all a huge step-up.

For Puppeteer, why didn’t Gabriel tell her to go to a toy store? We know Ladybug and Cat Noir merch exists, if they exist long enough for people to make a full-length movie and costumes, there have to be toys, right? The fight would’ve been over before the heroes knew there was a villain on the loose.

Speaking of Mr Pigeon, Lila and Felix would later on correct Mr Ramier a better akumatized form as Monsieur Rat and I can't wait to see how these two will do any better than smooth brain Gabe did before
