It's a bit embarrassing to say it out loud, but I'm currently reading my first Terry Pratchett book ever (Good Omens)🙈 I know he's truly one of the best, and I really like his style. I've always felt a bit overwhelmed by the long Discworld series, so I'm happy to have stumbled upon this video and to start this journey with you (although you are wayyy ahead of me)! I'm going to order Strata right away and read along with your videos.

Absolutely no shame in finding an author late on. Apart from Prachett I came to fantasy really late and find myself saying things like "hey I've just discovered this guy called Brandon Sanderson, he's really good!" which is when I get the response "yes, I know he's really good, everyone knows he's really good, where have you been?"
You are a glutton for punishment if you're going to dive in at the deep end with Strata! I wasn't lying when I said it was the worst place to start, but glad top have you along. It'll incentivise me to catch up recording the videos because I'm at least 6 behind. 🙂
That being said, the reviews I've done are spoiler free so maybe take a look and see if there's one that appeals more, then you can see if you like Discworld or not before committing to slogging through some of the weaker ones,
I read them all in publication order when I began my journey in 2009 then read all his other books once I was done. I’d never say there was a wrong way but as you’re doing, I’d say reading as written is the best for getting the most out of them as far as writing style and world building evolution goes.
Thanks for watching. Yeah, ‘wrong way’ is probably an overstatement, but publication order isn’t the way I’d recommend a new reader approach the Discworld. I think it suits someone who’s read a few, is onboard with Discworld and wants the full experience.
@@TheBookThing To be fair it did take me a long time to read the first two but at the time I put that down to me being a slow reader....but then rocketed through the rest!

I have been in two minds about the Wheel of Time books, but recently I just started the Warhammer 40k books and there are over 60 to that collection haha 😂. So for me, the length is not a problem but I have heard a lot of mixed reviews

60 Warhammer 40K books sounds like a hell of a commitment alright 😁 I like WOT but it can drag in a way that doesn’t have much to do with the length.
By comparison to both those, Discworld is a breeze 😁
@TheBookThing If I decide to do Discworld I will pick it up next year because before the end of the year, I want to read the Game of Thrones series since I am a huge fan of the House of Dragons TV series.

Game of Thrones is a frustrating read. Not because it isn’t good. But because it isn’t finished and it doesn’t seem likely to be.
So far I’ve only read Mort and Reaper Man. Excited to also get to the City Watch series.
