- Think of the Chicago Fire Department and two things most likely come to mind: Fighting fires and responding to medical emergencies.
It would be cheaper for the city to just offer transportation services that include assistance down steps etc for disabled and or elderly.
It would be easier if it was more ADA affordable housing with either lift chairs or elevators.
Who pays for that? The people selling their homes to flee the city? Or the bums in the city who refuse to work “cuz uf da arfritis!!”
@@oteluathomas9253 true, affordable housing for disabled is so lacking in this city.
@@ashbyalec14 I don't answer questions from racist people.
@@spritelass6712 great answer, these miserable racist people don’t even know that they have MENTAL ISSUES ❤
😳😳😳
I feel bad for those firemen and women. They're literally being used and played.
Ask your Fed contacts to act
Stop shilling
Get cost recovery for civilian assists from the care provider. They can add it to the Medicare/Medicaid costs that they bill for.
I had neighbors that helped me with my husband when needed. I never even considered calling 911 to help me get my husband to the car for appointments.
There are private companies that should take care of this.
That’s what you have private transport companies for to take you to and from appointments using emergency services for non emergent calls is a nuisance and some cases not even billable
start charging for the services... let the person know the costs before
I thought medicaid took care of that.
Call your insurance see what private transport companies accept your insurance and use that in New Jersey we have ambulance services that does non emergent the problem is places don’t pay enough
Make them call Private Ambulances!
Thank you for sharing.
The cost of health care for shooting victims In Chicago has skyrocketed in last three years.
Here is an opportunity for all your entrepreneurial minded people out there.
Start a for profit, public assist business, and bill medicaid or medicare.
Or you could start a non profit that provides the same service and apply for and receive a ton of government grant money.
You will get rich.
medicare, medicaid, some insurance provide rides for free for med appointments. some include trips to store or even get a haircut. there are programs that help get things like chair lifts installed. also covers in home care. all of this for free.
Brandon doesn't see anything wrong with this. They may need to charge for the Service because the city is broke. How about $30.00 a trip one-way. $50.00 round trip.
Brandon hasn't even taken office yet. Transport services already exist. They are for profit, and refuse to put two people on duty that could carry someone down stairs. The fire department aren't driving these people. They are only helping them down stairs.
Who's Brandon?
In NYC private ambulance companies take care of this.
This is heartbreaking for her .
They don't have medical transportation out there
I wish I could help Ms. Smith on my days off. I think communities should at least try and help their elderly/disabled if and when they can. I give mega props to the Chicago Fire Dept for doing so, regardless if some see it a s a waste of tax dollars. I mean...I see why they would be upset...but then let's get people together to try and alleviate the problems these people face.
We do it everyday and love helping the people. All of us wouldn't trade our job for anything even though we work another job on the side to make ends meet. My crew cleaned the kitchen after the elderly couple ate and put them in bed for the night. We are all tired but we love the community we serve we work for the people.
Sure🤣🤣
Comments like these are why the general public abuses the system. Y'all wonder why we have a staffing shortage. We aren't maids.
@@user-wq4ui7gw1w I've been doing this for 30 years. We have a shortage because people don't want low pay. People are scared to work they want to sit and play video games. Plus why wouldn't you want to help a elderly couple.
You are good to support Civilian Assist, but you aren’t looking at how much it costs. The wear and tear on fire apparatus that’s designed to fight fire. The cost of diesel fuel, manpower, injuries to firefighters, and delivery of service all add up. If you don’t get cost recovery your Mayors is going to start asking for brown outs, layoffs and pay cuts. Look at all of it.
@@jerryhughes5380 no sir I do look at that. We are already on a call for a lift assist. We do everything we can when are there so we don't half to go back. So we can save wear and tear and diesel. So yes I do understand.
Its one thing for a doctor appt. Or dialisis but to go to the casisno thats wrong
This is a job for family or a hired caregiver..NOT the public fire department!
Who was present that could of carried these disabled people down a flight of stairs. They call out of desperation not laziness.
I have a 90yr grandma who weights a 165lbs, and no I’m not able to carry down a flight of stairs and no her homemaker is not either. Would you be able too? Do you really think that people are calling the fire department because they don’t want to help they’re love ones or just to lazy, which one is it?
Give them your number if you care so much
some people dont have anybody at all .I am in my late sixties and blind and in a wheel chair with my 90 year old mom .if it was not for the fire dept coming and picking me up off the floor ,mom and i would be fount dead after a few months GOD BLESS the firemen
Black people we need our family structure
Free labor? 😂
To many people getting shot mugged and raped, which one of these should we call on? 😅
Funny how no CFD wearing scba on the roof just after they had firefighter killed not wearing scba
It's funny how you have no clue what CFD have to do or wear.
By the way, it a SCOTT AIR PACK........NOT scba.
@@thefucrew9865 really I've been on fire scene with them so stop lying and Scott is name brand moron scba is a self contained breathing apparatus
@@thefucrew9865 Whether it's Scott or MSA or DRager they are all self contained breathing apparatus.
@@user-wq4ui7gw1w, it wouldn't be Draeger....
@@thefucrew9865 ur Florida smart Scott air pack
Trash😮
People use it as public transportation. They don't pay for the ride with the ambulance but you would have to pay if you called a cab, took a bus. This has been an ongoing abuse of First Responders for decades in Chicago and nationwide.
You are completely mistaken…no one gets a ride to a destination…they get carried out of the house, because they are not capable to walking out of the house on their own…also you get bill from city for an ambulance ride no matter what, so it’s not free
Like they pay that bill😂😂😂😂
That was one story. While the other two were a mother and sister taking care of their family members. But I see what you did. And you're sick.
I like to see the firemen work. Many watch tv all day.
What a stupid comment, you should be ashamed.
Clueless in Chicago smh 🤦🏻♂️
Truck 20 in the video there doesn’t sit around all day. They do 15-20 runs a day.
Ah, the truth comes through, just look at hIs/her UA-cam Channel?
True 💯💯💯
So when did this start? This is ridiculous and her family should be ashamed
Ashamed of what? My grandma needs to be carried out the house to get to her doctor’s appointment. The fire department doesn’t transport them to the appointment, they literally carry them out to a vehicle. I am not physically equipped to carry my grandmother out of her building. So before judge an entire family, think if we physically able to carry them ourselves we would. Who wants to call the fire department 3x just the carry a love out of the house?
Ashamed of having a disabled family member? What should they do? There is no one else to care for them.
