Love the Freddie statue story and Yes Freddie would have been hysterical about it 😂😂 Roger and Freddie were buddies and had been room mates when they were young and poor. Roger was on his way to visit Freddie when he got the call that it was too late. 😥 Roger has Old Friend on the statue which is meaningful 🥰

I agree. Freddie would have found it hilarious that Roger took the statue. Thanks, Rory!

Nice video. I do love the story about the statue, Freddie and Roger had a very similar sense of humour. Apparently Brian was quite mad about Roger taking the statue, they had a big fight over it.

Bummer that the Freddie doc got blocked.
Roger once said he chose a science degree Bc he felt like it was the easiest way to get to London.
He also has the original touring gong as a garden decoration. 😊

Touching. So appreciate Roger's every mentioning of Freddie. Read he said Freddie would be proud that he (Roger) grabbed that statue out from under Brian's nose. Also read Roger was given permission by town authorities but had to commit to removing the statue if he left the property. In fact recall he did take it to a new home....I may be wrong.

The best documentary is Days of Our Lives. It’s mostly Brian and Roger talking.
There’s a huge statue in Switzerland overlooking the lake near where their recording studio was. There’s also a huge Queen museum there. Not too many rock stars have massive statues!!

Thanks for doing these interviews. Roger seems to be the most down to earth of the guys. He and Freddie were good friends. In the early days of Queen they had a used clothing stand to make ends meet. They each supported each other's solo careers. Freddie sings one of the songs in The Cross albums and Roger did backing vocals for one of Freddie's songs and comes out in the Great Pretender. Freddie also was best man for Roger's second marriage.

I just watched a good Queen documentary on UA-cam recently--hadn't seen it before--have watched many others but this one interviewed actual people involved early on and members of the group about how the band got started. It's called Becoming Queen 2004.

You gotta love Roger. I’d love to hear what Deacy would have to say about Queen.

Funny the Freddie statue is in the same garden (at Roger's home) where they shot Spread Your Wings and We Will Rock You....don 't think he moved from that location. Seems quite fitting to me!

@@sammyholloway334 I love Queen for it's versatile discography. Additionally, Freddie was/is everything to me. I did learn to be thrilled by hard rock deeply listening to and watching the four of them.

      @@Lilah1754 I was there , I saw it.
It was all about Brians guitar playing.
      I saw it all.
      I know what happened.
This new craze, is not about music,
      Its virtue signaling.
Which has nothing to do with virtue.

@@sammyholloway334 Well, you are lucky you were there! Yes, Brian was and is amazing guitar player. They all were excellent musicians. Think I know where you are going with this, and I won’t engage. I believe for most, like myself, it is about discovering how great their music is. I only knew the “hits”, but after seeing movie, I looked into their early music and was amazed. Your opinion is yours, sad as it is. Thanks
