I've been trying hard understand what she did that made her great.. Most places talk about what she didn't do: she didn't express political views. But I wanna know about the good things she has done. I am a British citizen, when I was small in the 50's my parents had a plate with Queen's picture on the wall, I always thought it was my mum and wondered where her crown was (as I wanted to play with it). We did not have television at home until 1956, that is when I realised my mum was not the Queen. (What a shock). We loved the Queen, she has been true and loyal to the end. They are usually very argumentive people who say awful things about anyone who is in a better position than themselves. In other words jealous and bitter people with nothing better to do.

I came here hoping to understand what she has done for Great Britain and the world. I leave just as puzzled as I was before watching the video. I have nothing against royals (I would rather see a country led by a visionary king/queen than an incompetent president/government) but please tell me what makes her more than the glorified mascot of Great Britain. Her greatest achievements have been to broadcast more royal events yet most people don't really know who she is as a person or what she thinks on important issues. Her whole life and wealth have been partially supported by tax payers and what did they get in return? Some charity and public appearances? Give me a break, she had very little political power and she has remained quiet on the many issues that the world and Great Britain have faced over her LONG reign. Let mourn the loss of a human life but anything beyond that is an exaggeration in my opinion. Please educate me if I am wrong.
I am completely baffled. There is not one news article, video or podcast that actually tells me what she did that really changed the world. And yet, her passing, sad as it is, is being shoved into my face on every medium as if I am supposed to feel terrible . I agree with your sentiment, but this video is accurate. It's easy to judge her based on the here and the now. one thing I think this video left out is how Queen Victoria built a global empire by military force while Queen Elizabeth II (for the most part) dismantled it peacefully after WW2. The UK pretty much leaves the #1 world superpower status to the United States at the end of the 20th century.
No one served the UK with as much passion and dedication as Queen Elizabeth II. Her entire life was dedicated to the service of her country and those of the British Monarch. ❤️🇨🇦 She will be greatly missed by the world

I've always respected her. She loved her country, the people, and her job. And she did it all very well. She'll be missed. She went from announcements on the radio, to tv broadcasts, to social media.... Nobody will ever do that again.

The monarchy is the glue that holds our parliament together (legally speaking). Without it, we would have to become a republic and write a constitution. We don't really trust our politicians to do that. So, the monarchy acts as the neutral arbiter of power in the country. That makes it useful for the peaceful transition of power between governments because the military serves the the crown - not parliament. It's like an anti-coup glitch.

I came here hoping to understand what she has done for Great Britain and the world. I leave just as puzzled as I was before watching the video. I have nothing against royals (I would rather see a country led by a visionary king/queen than an incompetent president/government) but please tell me what makes her more than the glorified mascot of Great Britain. Her greatest achievements have been to broadcast more royal events yet most people don't really know who she is as a person or what she thinks on important issues. Her whole life and wealth have been partially supported by tax payers and what did they get in return? Some charity and public appearances? Give me a break, she had very little political power and she has remained quiet on the many issues that the world and Great Britain have faced over her LONG reign. Let mourn the loss of a human life but anything beyond that is an exaggeration in my opinion. Please educate me if I am wrong.

I agree with your sentiment, but this video is accurate. It's easy to judge her based on the here and the now. one thing I think this video left out is how Queen Victoria built a global empire by military force while Queen Elizabeth II (for the most part) dismantled it peacefully after WW2. The UK pretty much leaves the #1 world superpower status to the United States at the end of the 20th century.

The monarchy is the glue that holds our parliament together (legally speaking). Without it, we would have to become a republic and write a constitution. We don't really trust our politicians to do that. So, the monarchy acts as the neutral arbiter of power in the country. That makes it useful for the peaceful transition of power between governments because the military serves the the crown - not parliament. It's like an anti-coup glitch.
