Another awesome video! I just got a Sony ZV E10 for cooking videos and I love it. I have the kit 16-50mm lens and so far I don't think I will need anything else too soon. Even so, this is very helpful for the future and I wanna thank you for your work!
So nicely laid out Philip! We use a set of Nikon primes pretty much identical to the Sonys you have there, and they work like magic for all those reasons. So interesting to hear about all the features the Sony cameras have, especially with the internal zoom options. Thanks for this Philip!
I have been shooting Nikon full-frame cameras since the late 1960s. For food photography and product photography, I use: 105mm f/2.8 Nikkor prime macro 55mm f/3.5 Nikkor prime macro 24mm f/2 Nikkor prime 28mm f/4 Nikkor prime perspective control 28-70mm f/2.8 Nikkor zoom
Thank you for this video! It is very informative and helpful for someone like me who is new to working with cameras. I currently use canon with a 18-55mm lens and it does ok for what I need at the moment but would love to have more lense options once it is in the budget!
Most, if not all people who shoot cooking videos, shoot with a center island, with the rest of the kitchen behind them. What if you don’t have a center island and you face the wall, how would you light that up and what lens would you use?
as per your suggestion, I got a ZV1 and shoot with an additional wide angle lens 18mm Ulanzi and it has really helped step my game up on my socials! Thanks Philip!
I am testing on an iPhone 13 pro max at the moment as I am scared of my DSLR as I find it so intricate..., really need both so need to break out of my comfort zone...😊
I use three of them. Rokinon 12mm lens, Rokinon 24 mm lens, and my sigma 28-200 mm lens. I also use my iphone 12 pro max with a filmic pro app and my gopro for overhead shots.
On your suggestion, I actually purchased a Tamron 90mm macro lens and I love it. The only downfall is that it's kind of noisy when I use it but it has an option where I can lock in the focus and it won't move back and forth.
Thanks for this video! I just got the 50mm. the second one is a little too steep for me. But I need help with the close ups with a greater depth of field. The one that comes with it needs too much light.
Great video Phillip Thank You..🙏 Am I right to assume that you mentioned the nifty fifty at the start? I have 1 compatible to another brand, is it the same almost? Please excuse me am learning 🙏 😊
Thanks for the video Philip! We shoot APS-C, and we use a Sigma 18-50 for a lot of the ‘roving” shots. And thanks for the tip on clear image zoom! Will come in handy with our primes.
Hi First thank you for thr amazing channel. It has been very helpful having in mind I have zero experience with cameras and I am trying to gasp as much as I can. I have sony rx10 iv which does not have interchangeable lenses I think the equivalent is 35mm. For cooking videos where I don't have to show my face would that camera be suitable? Thanks
Hi I love Your channel 🙂 and I have question about zebras on sony camera. I want to start shooting something like You or Guga and the question is the zebras which is the proper setting for cooking videos? Thank you in advance and best regards from Poland 🇵🇱 😊
This video I'm working on now I'm shooting it on my Canon 50mm, my Rokinon, 35mm Cine lens, and my overhead shots using my gopro with a polarizer filter on it.
I have a 24-70 sigma I use almost 100% of the time, it’s a great lens, I have that same 50mm as well. Great lenses. Someday I’ll have a bunch of Gmaster but too expensive for now
great video dude. what wattage key light/fill light do you recommend for food videos? İ used a 60 watt god ox light but it was too dark. İm thinking either 200watt or 300 watt at this point. What would you recommend?
Good evening I really like your videos, could you tell me which lens to buy for the Sony ZV-E10 camera to record cooking videos and recipes and I want to record videos + up close thank you. Which lens would you recommend?
Hello! I really love you content. I have a question. I want to shoot foodie vlog content like you said while doing the 24mm review. I wanna do food reviews and planning to put my camera on the table while doing it. I’m a newbie when it comes to cameras. I already have a Canon M6 m2 and just ordered a Sigma 18-35mm and a Sigma 16mm lenses yesterday and they are on the way. I’m just wondering if would any of that work or do I need to return it and get something that’s like the 24mm but compatible for my camera? Thank you!
I think the 18-35 is prob all you really need! The 16mm isnt THAT much wider. It is A LOT smaller and lighter than the 18-35mm though. Id look for something wider if possible. Like the 10-18mm. If you can, try and rent one and try it out first before you buy it.
Awesome video! I especially liked seeing examples of the lenses in use - that 90mm macro is pretty sweet, and I can see why it’s your favorite! Also, I didn’t know about the Clear Image Zoom/etc modes even though I’ve had my Sony camera since 2015 😅 Looking forward to that lighting video for sure!
I'm a bit late but, do I really NEED a lens if I'm planning on making videos like lets say just a overhead view and maybe some shoots from a side angle? Or can the ZV1 do that without a lens?
First of all thanks vor this little Lens Insight. I am planning to switch my camera and lens. Right now i am using the Canon eos700d with a standard Zoom kit. I am thinking about the gh5 ii LUMIX, can you recommend a affordable lens for that camera? I am cooking/ filming in my kitchen with a range of 2-5m i guess. Any suggestions? Btw i love your filming style, your gear/sound videos helped me a lot, you are a big inspiration and i hope i can be as successful as you one day. Greetings from Germany 🙏
Hello Phillip,Great and informative video, please I would really appreciate it if you read my comment and reply. I do cooking videos and I would like to find Sony camera lens that is able to take 4k image to a cooking pan from about a meter away to avoid the heat and the splashing oil but at the same time to be able to zoom very close to get a micro image to the ingredients. I would really appreciate your help.
@@PhilipLemoine it is! Though my only prob with it is the focusing distance is quite far.. 🥲 but it’s definitely my go to lens on my foodie trips.. though i’m drooling over the 5Omm 1.2 GM lens.. but gosh it’s so expensive! 🥲😅
@@PhilipLemoine but my go to for cooking videos is definitely my 16-55mm sony apsc lens on my a6400.. very convenient to use zoom lenses on videos.. and i use my 90mm on my full frame for another close up angle!
Thnx a lot for this video.I am a new youtuber in cooking and i believe this will be very useful for me 😀I'll update the review video after using it bro.thnx a lot ❤️
I dont remember off the top of my head but I do have another video on my channel with a full studio kitchen tour and gear break down. I show the tripod and accessories.
Great walkthrough, thank you very much for this video packed with information. I didn't know about the features you talk about in the end!!! Is it only on fullframe cameras, or also cropped sensors (I have Sony a6400). And for the lens, if anyone is starting and wondering wich one to get first: you can't go wrong with the 50mm.

1000% agree on the 24-70mm for cooking videos - the versatility is invaluable!
After that, should we us picture profile: Slog2 or slog 3?? Because i worry about noise
I’m also using the 24mm lens and it’s wonderful! Thanks for your video tips, I am using them for all my cooking videos! Keep up the good work
I love your videos! You deserve way more followers and views like Phillip here!

The sizing based on the kitchen and camera lens was an awesome tip! I'm looking at a 50mm lens now! Super instructional and great video!

Hello
I have watched this at least 10 times! Thanks from a newby to DSLRs.
Love this! Very informative and love how versatile Sony is
Thank you, you've inspired many ideas and much appreciated for your guide and advices. Great channel!

Yay! Thanks for watching! Im happy to hear we have a similar setup!
I have been shooting Nikon full-frame cameras since the late 1960s. For food photography and product photography, I use:
105mm f/2.8 Nikkor prime macro
55mm f/3.5 Nikkor prime macro
24mm f/2 Nikkor prime

28-70mm f/2.8 Nikkor zoom

Brillant stuff Phillip. I have been shooting on the A7IV and this video was a tremendous help thank you!
For my talking shots I use a Rokinon 12mm lens and my go to is my sigma 28-200mm lens. I also have a rokinon 24mm lens

Hi, sigma 16mm f1.4 vs Tamron 17-70mm f2.8.
which one do you recommend for cooking video content
Thank you for that second “dope” feature! 😂😂 Sony take my money
hahah
Hi You use autofocus or manual? Which will the best for cooking videos?
I just bought a Tamron 90mm 2.8 for my Canon m50. It's a macro.
Thnx a lot for this video.I am a new youtuber in cooking and i believe this will be very useful for me 😀I'll update the review video after using it bro.thnx a lot ❤️
Very nice explanation.
Hey! Could you please suggest if I should buy APSC 50mm lens or Full Frame 50 mm lens for Sony alpha 6000 camera? I am really confused
for an APSC Camera youd be looking at a 35mm lens. I use the 35mm 1.8 on my Sony ZVE10
The spinning lens on the table shot has me so confused. What is this sorcery, do you have something under it that rotates,
Should we use slog 2 or slog 3 to shoot videos???
What about for crop sensor?
This video is cleannnnnnn
Thank you, Kathlyn!
Which lens do I use if my camera is Canon eos r?
Would u recommend sony 70-200 f2.8 a good lense to use for cooking ?
Nahhh its a bit TOO zoomed in. 24-70 would be the most Ideal if you have to buy one lens.
No need to overpay for Sony 24-70. Sigma 24-70 is amazing for its price. I used both
apsc lens alternative???????
Is anamorphic lens good for cooking videos?
the tips at the end... cant you just shoot in 4K and crop to those sizes too?
I didn’t know the zoom thing thanks.
Thank you, sir!
