Great podcast. I agree with everything you said. I've only gone to 2 festivals, one many years ago (in Toronto far from downtown, and it was not thrilling), and Knit City Mtl in May. I'm not averse to chatting with people I don't know in public settings, but the crowds really don't work for me. Mind you, the opp to see things I'd otherwise never see - and to touch them for future reference - is indisputable. I'll likely go again to Knit City in TO (downtown next year, apparently - so I'll be able to walk to it) and in Mtl (where my kid lives and where I love to take a short vacay). But Rhinebeck really isn't something I'm aiming for 🙂
It's important to know yourself and your limits that's for sure. I'll also be there at Knit City Toronto.
Maybe you can work in the K-W (Kitchener/Waterloo) Knitter’s Fair Sep 9 and/or Woolstock Oct 14 in Paris, both are big events in Ontario. Having a budget is great advice. I go with an open mind looking for inspiration. I review the vendors list and their websites ahead of time to prioritize. Fairs can be really busy and knowing my priorities helps to keep me focused with so much distraction everywhere. Rhinebeck scares me given the CAD to USD currency exchange, the crowds, limited accommodations, etc., a bit overwhelming imho. Love your channel, it’s always interesting.
Thank you Pat, I will look up those events! Yes it can get a little overwhelming at times, that's why preparing is always a good practice.
