This shows how much more the Volvo weighs and that’s basically it. I drive a 2012 Volvo XC70 and love it. I also know it weighs a hell of a lot more than an Audi A6

This test isn't about power, its about traction and the ability for the awd system to put the power to the wheels most effectively. Giving them the same tires would be MORE of an accurate test... hence the "come close" reference in the comment.

Although the only one the trick is to left foot brake as well as Accelerate this is to make the diff work and slow down the wheel that is spinning and grip with the other...just dipp the brake occasionally
At first the Volvo rider let the system do its work. I thought: hey, clever guy compared to the flooring Audi driver. But then he fucked up and floored it as well. Only variables that effect going forward then is weight and the smallest tyre width and to less extend quality of snow tyres.
Love both cars, but in this clip you can see that the rope is not on same level on both sides. The volvo have the highest point, therefore the audi will drag it slightly down giving the volvo much better grip on rear wheels. The audi is slightly being lifted up by the rope angle, loosing rear grip.
I would add that the most heaviest point on both cars are the front. They get most of the traction from there. I had the same Volvo but with the viscouses coupler for the awd. It was pretty amazing in the winter 👍

But in reality, it give slightly more torque to rear wheels. this + this audi generations heavy front makes the rear end loose traction very easy. doesnt help that this test makes the rear end loose even more traction, not by much tho

Toyota, Honda, Mitsubishi or Subaru!! My 2001 Mitsubishi pajero is pushing 300k miles still running like a champ!!
Only the Japanese cars that are reliable (the older ones and mostly Toyota) rust like nobody's business. That's a problem for colder climates where roads are salted and stuff.
Volvo is no slouch on the reliability front, and honestly, neither is VW/Audi. They both have problematic platforms and engines but if you’re careful, then you can end up with a solid car. They can be less reliable than the Japanese for the sole reason of simplicity, but that’s a trade off in which you can get a much nicer car.
Well im on the volvo side but in this game only the tires matter. You can pull against a munster truck, uf you run good winter tyres and the monster truck is on slicks you still winn even if you have 1000 hp less

Pour avoir vu les 2 à l'oeuvre sur le même parcours lors d'un mondial de l'auto, y a pas photo, j'adore Volvo et notamment la XC70, mais clairement le Quattro est bien plus efficace. La XC70 a été mise hors circuit après 2h de piste. L'Audi à bouclé la journée sans encombre. J'ajouterai même que sur cette piste technique particulière du salon, l'Audi forçait l'admiration de Range Rover. (moi y compris).
Tires are one of the most important parts in the cars, if you have the same tires you could test them, but this is just burning your clutch nothing more

don't get me wrong, but this type of tests should be focused on tiers not on cars. It is useless to test this if the cars are not equipped with the exact same tiers (new). However, Volvo for the win!
Consider the fact that the audi engine has lower torque and the instant torque isn t great due to the engine being an NA , the volvo has a much big advantage because of the turbo and the better torque. But it can t stand a chance to quattro

If it’s a 2.4T it’s not XC70, but rather V70XC with the inferiour viscous coupling. XC70, which used a Haldex system, came as 2.5T.
