“History is something that was alive”. Such a beautiful line 🌟
"History is something that was alive like you"
I wrote that down
When you go to meditation retreats, And you're really bored and you read a book, if it's about the past, it'll feel like you're in the past. Especially if you go to a retreat with no technology. You can't pinpoint what year it is because you don't have the technology to indicate it. So when you read those books you literally get transported in time and it is a very sublime sensation
The worst way to study history is to pretend that past is not intelligent and think about it as a dead corp. Past is alive. Past is intelligent. Past is passionate. Past is excitement. Past is willing. Past is not a bunch of lost feelings
"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." - George Santayana
Blah blah blah we’ve all heard this a million zillion times
That can't be the whole quote? I don't think it's just about the Past, but rather the psychological lessons learned from leveraging the past. Nothing else matters as much?
Repeating past is not just that we don't remember nor know it. It is sometimes a need. The worst way to study history is to pretend that past is not intelligent and think about it as a dead corp. Past is alive. Past is intelligent. Past is passionate. Past is excitement. Past is willing. Past is not a bunch of lost feelings
Repeating fact doesn't make you smarty ass😂
We love you Robert! Can’t wait for The Sublime
Nous aimons vous, Robert Green ! Avoir hâte de la Sublime
History is basically the key to the universe. You can learn so much about yourself and others from it.
I'm eagerly anticipating the release of your book (The Law of the Sublime).
History is interesting. I have a minor in history, however continue to read. Studying different perspectives is really cool.
I would like to add something. Now that you are talking about the sublime, i recomend everybody to imagine how It was, to be where the events happened and to look at every object as a keeper of an untold story that we might never know about. This is fascinating in all the senses, it is similar to the feeling of looking at the stars, wondering about how incredible it is to be alive!
Cannot wait for the laws of the sublime!!!
We can learn so much about ourselves by studying and reading history.
For various reasons History was my favourite subject in school. One reason was that it fulfilled a desire for understanding about the past...how we came to where we are.
Thank you for your valuable insights/views.
I too find history interesting. It's a shame I didn't take history seriously in my school days. Only recently have i started reading books (non academic books) and have found myself in love with history.
Superb and Noble work:
Greene is a timely blessing, his insightful information is deep profound , timeless and Priceless. Thank you . Stay golden stay blessed and all listening ❤️✌️🙏⭐️
Impecable detail of history and how is connected with us everyday
Shared this video with my family. Nice message!
Definitely I shift my focus because of you Robert. Thank you very much 😊
I miss you Robert. Please come with a new video soon!
Its vital to know the history as we all know history could repeat itself in a different form .. so we should be aware of it so that we could make something best out of it in our daily life ..
WEN RELEASE ! CANT WAIT !
(taleb's entroy & kurzweil's singularity is nearer are also my most anticipated one along with sublime, for 2024-25)
I came from Theo's channel. Excited to watch your videos 😊
I find my self withdrawn to read history and i can go for hours reading without noticing time I dont know what it is about and why i feel this way but there an excitement in discovering what was going on and putting all the pieces together to finally make sense
History sublime:-it repeats.
Thank you for suggesting Mozart's Starling. It is sublime. I loved it because it was informative, thought-provoking, and a great story. ❤
Thanks! I do think more history lessons are appreciated because of you.
Fascinating explanation, Mr. Greene🎉 History indeed is something that was ALIVE✨️
Traveling to places where history was made or seeing where ancestors actually lived &/or died really personalizes history for me.
Thanks for sharing
For me it’s not boring i love history and will continue to study in a near future it’s just sometimes i like to take a break cause history can sometimes take a really dark turn
Looking forward to your new book
And you can learn from history because of history you are the way you are today and because today you'll be tomorrow
I ❤LOVE history, because history is the stories of people and the choices they make and why. I find people very much the same since the beginning of time. We are shaped by our history. I find history very interesting.
Thanks so much, hoping to relate again🎉❤
I am working on writing “The Social Rules of Engagements” I would really love to sit down and philosophize about your studies and mines. I focus on protection, knowing there is a predator and prey in all species. So much more
4:27 , Sublime's last chapter means his new book is going to come in 6 months guys!!!
Perhaps he meant, last (written) chapter.
I am really interested in history. I especially like pre-columbian US history. The pre-columbian US actually had many cities, and a lot of the pre columbian US actually practiced agriculture too. For instance there several cities with an urban population of over 20,000 like Cahokia with 45,000 people, and an 100 foot tall earthen mound at it's center that had a base that was larger than The Great Pyramid of Giza. Even on the pre-columbian east coast there were small cities like in 300 CE there was the ancient city of Tequesta in what is now miami with possibly 6,000 people. It had had clay/terracotta round houses with thatched roofs. Or the algonquins had towns like Chowanoke with perhaps 3,000 people and 50 bark longhouses. The algonquin native groups had 50-60 foot long ocean going canoes, some with sails and were sailing long before the europeans arrived I read. Also in pre-columbian Florida there was a kingdom called the Kingdom of Escampaba or Calusa and it's capital was on a artifical island in Estero Bay in Southwest Florida. And there were tons of Paramountcy's/ Paramount chiefdoms and chiefdoms in the pre-columbian US, even a democracy in the iroquois confederacy, which was founded in 1142. I have a series on my youtube channel where I generate completely random times and places in history.
What we learned from history is that we do not learn from history 🇮🇱
Your insights are deep
History as it's taught can be boring. However, when you get to know what was really happening, what people did and were likely thinking, then it gets interesting.
Currently, I am reading about the OJ Simpson trial. It is interesting how we see the same defense strategy is playing out today.
I love history but it feels so boring sometimes. I want to study history more but what frustrates me is that I don’t remember the stuff I read or rather I mix things up.
Try to read small portion and wen you are done. Write a summary of that small portion.
Newton said he "built on the shoulders of giants." History is essential not just physical reality but even for knowledge.
Write summaries in bullet points when u read, helps me remember
You may be living in a historic moment. Write a letter to your future grandchild about what it was like to live in 2024. If you love history then find ways to awaken your interest and imagination of the subject. Those were real people with interesting lives if you care to know of them. They're like ghosts who are lonely and bored. They'd love to talk with you and tell you what they know. Maybe it will help you understand the present with greater clarity.
You don't necessarily have to remember everything you read to get something out of it. Try studying exciting parts of history like the French Revolution, which can also help you understand our current world and society.
LOVE AND RESPECT BROTHER 💙💙💙 I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!!!!!!
Currently on law 13 of The 48 laws of power and have never been truly addicted to a book before. Definitely going to read the rest of Greene’s books.
Hated history in school but as an adult I love reading into the past - part of why I love his books is because of the way he retells about historical figures etc
Thank you
Take care Robert
Hey Robert, would you have any book recommendations for the renaissance period? Preferably with illustrations? I have been drawn towards that era for quite some time now. Thanks.
Robert Greene please go into more detail about the Art of Charm and how to develop this character. I would like a deep dive into this character after reading the Art of seduction please and thank you.
I am studying Big History and am loving it. The big picture.
My story will be great, i'm learning from history✔️🎉
Love ❤️ History
Let those who dont learn and respect history repeat it.
And we repeat over and over again. :(
Is your book coming out at 3 oct it is given on amazon uk
Can someone enlighten me which chapter sir is talking about ??
His new upcoming book "sublime" and it's last chapter so basically he is going to give us that good news of his new book in the upcoming 6 months, hope so...
As someone who failed history and then became a historian he is 100% right. history is sublime and not about facts and dates
Great author🗿
👏👏👏 excellent!!
Nice
Manly palmer hall taught me well since 13. And yes, history is very much alive.
Mr Greene is such a breath of fresh air. Only living person I can tolerate right now.
Ah, so you are from USA
The best reason to learn history is not in order to predict the future but to free yourself of the past and imagine alternative destinies.
I read history mainly to learn patterning.
Don't pick any side while reading history guys (My opinion).
I agree. Perfect way to take history
Im really looking forward to The Sublime book. I hope its as raw and earthy as the 48 laws. I know it wont be😢
Robert , question , between these three men which one would you choose to be if you could be one of them , all three are listed below and this is just a question , so if you don’t want to be one of them that’s cool but just let me tell you who they are and again all three are listed below !
The Man Who Knows Everything
The Man Who Has Everything
The Man Who Always Wins
So true
I wish I can get your book
Your recommendation to reading the book of 5 rings, and the gay science are just amazing, soon I'll check out leaornado da Vinci and the fall of public man.... You are a great author and have amazing taste
If you are going to study history, study Big History, like in the book Maps of Time.
Because it's who we are in fact
❤❤❤❤
What are some recent and/or great history books you have read? I'm looking to expand on my history reads.
History is the species-awareness of mankind
History doesn't repeat itself people do.
❤
if you find history boring, stop learning history from books. learn history by visiting and looking at historical sites. go see the pyramids. go see the roman ruins. Go see the forbidden city. Go see the Killing fields. Go see the concentration camps. Hire good tour guides who explain well. Talk to the elderly who lived through history. / i hated in history in school textbooks but i absolutely love history when i see history come alive in front of my eyes , as real buildings and real objects and real places and real people.
You are my ideal I love you Mr :Robert❤️🫶🏻
While every cell has a memory, the cells are created new, all the time.
Hopefully Law of the sublime attempts to open peoples mind to the massive field of science
Robert Greene is the Modern Sun Tzu
Svp fais nous une chaîne en français aussi
Robert could you talk about Venezuela in terms of it's government, in terms o power, in terms of strategy, because clearly it's government it's not working, I'm Mexican but it's it said that Amlo wanna reform the law in order to take over and be like Venezuela.
What books tells the history correctly? Give me some recommendations brother 👊🏻
When the story was written by an eyewitness.
History is expansion... ✨
How can we explain the chaos and the rest of the world where war is not currently present without mentioning God and his devil? Or how can we explain the same without referencing monkeys and evolution? We pass on information, in real time as well, and research it, while we are aware of what is going on, but somehow, we do not know how, or do we? Does anybody?”
The problem with history is its veracity I'm afraid. Especially the more ancient one.
Nothing is new under the Sun
I am rewriting the history.
I am the history, back to the future which is now.
You do not know in this regard to express.
Metaphysician
&.
Philosopher
Strange
People should also learn about the ancient Egyptian civilization especially black people
Egyptians weren't all black. Some were light skin or some were dark.
Ppl don't learn from history, why learn it then
would u rather be the person who never learns from history or the person who does? what will the life be like for the person who lerns from history and for the person who never learns from history? ultimately it's your choice and your life.
🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸
Sublime is a term invented by Greene to sell his upcoming book
History is a set of lies agreed upon ! Napoleon Bonaparte
I never had the luxury to do anything first people think I waste my time then they realise I do what they do and finally they figure out they can't do what I do and walk away❤❤🎉🎉 funny people
If it's to understand people (or yourself), wouldn't studying psychology be better for that purpose?
History is fascinating. But I wonder at times... is anybody surprised we've made things this sophisticated considering all the... nonsense and bullcrap in the world. I wonder how much more oomph human history has in it at times to be honest.
I have enjoyed HISTORICAL FICTION
But I must say in warning
The way the characters respond in this historical environment under these circumstances says a lot about human nature
However the actions of the characters are only as accurate and evolved and wise as the author writing them.
I would not read a historical fiction by Robert Green as his strategies do not have integrity and he lives in fear. People in history did not live at the level of fear that we do in general. He will inject his own fear in the characters... Haven't you ever noticed we think big heroes only existed way in the past? Why is that.
.
Um, because None of what we had to learn is the truth
Learn to avoid people who are stuck in the past.
man at this rate, i highly doubt that you also read hegel..
Thay fuken theef rong crimes
if god exists, his name is Robert Greene
His name is Jesus Christ, Son of Man
Allah is the unique god ,the god of earth and skies and what is beetween .
Allah is the unique god ,the god of the skies and earth
Allah, The One and only god
