For Movie Incinerator, one explanation I heard is that according to Cakedup83 (channel’s gone unfortunately) on his review of Incinerator, he said that since Hasbro managed to make him strongly resemble the V-22 Osprey without getting licensing fees from Bell/Boeing, they weren’t legally allowed to repaint it.

Landmine even looks better as a Decepticon, with his spiky boots. Also, Hunt for the Decepticons Terradive repainted as G1 Triggerbot Dogfight (who has only had one figure of him, and that mold was never used againk). The shape of the wings, the shape of his head, and the hands doubled as guns, which would be a good homage to the Triggerbot gimmick. Cybertron Hotshot as Tracks. I'm from the UK. I'm not offended by the Slag name. I know it's a Slur but it pretty obvious they mean it in the metallurgy sense. Even as a very little kid I understood.
Even Cybertron Wing Saber, despite his main gimmick being Jetpack armor for Galaxy Force Optimus, had a recolor into 2007 Movie Wingblade, a Toys-R-Us exclusive who still kept the aforementioned feature despite the Cybertron Optimus Prime no longer being on store shelves. Granted, there was the Cybertron Jetfire repaint as Decepticon Jetstorm to go along with him, but still, a rather baffling choice for a store-exclusive redeco.
2 figures that I can think of that have obvious repaint potential but have been only used once are *Studio* *Series* *Brawl* and *Bonecrusher.* The original deluxes back in 2007 got repainted (Jungle Bonecrusher and Deep Desert Brawl). I can guess that they weren't doe because Studio Series focuses on onscreen depictions, but weird things has came out of the line (DOTM Thundercracker and "Crankcase"). Plus, the desert theme Brawl is technically an onscreen character as it was used as a generic in Dark of the Moon. Don't know about Bonecrusher though. But what I do know is those figures have obvious re-usage and they go for so much on the aftermarket.
I would agree, but Studio Series Thundercracker and that one repaint of Lockdown aren’t onscreen characters (granted Lockdown’s repaint is supposed to be a member of his ship’s crew, but he isn’t modeled after any one design shown onscreen).
@@SicMetalMaggot4life I think Thundercracker is in Studio Series due to an idea that concept art characters (such as ROTF Breakaway and other video game transformers) are going to fill out the line once all onscreen characters gets a figure. Speaking of the Prime line - RID Cliffjumper and Rumble. Thrilling 30 Brainstrom was also never reused. And Beast Wars Insecticon (the basic one).
Can someone explain why it is so difficult (or expensive) to duplicate older molds? To me it seems like a big excuse somehow.. aren't they constantly making new molds? Or what info am I missing? :)
Making a new mold is generally easy, since you’re just shaping plastic polymer or metal around a model to make a casting of it. However, the reason molds degrade or break is due to heat damage from the molten plastic, which melts, warps and distorts the mold over time. Without the original model the mold was cast from, repairing a mold exactly the way it was is extremely time consuming as you now either have to recast the mold from a finished product-line toy (making a copy of a copy in essence, which risks distorting the resulting toy even further), or you have to figure out the exact tolerances/dimensions of the mold entirely manually, and then physically restore the mold exactly the way it was, which requires manually heating and reshaping it back to normal. This is a finicky and time consuming process, not to mention more expensive than simply casting a new mold. Some bootleggers have used the former method to create bootlegs of some TFs that can’t be reproduced authentically because their molds are lost or destroyed, but I can’t speak to the actual quality of those toys myself.

The worst figure I have ever bought was “Longarm” from the 2007 movie. I hope they never reused that mold.
The biggest unused repaint for me would probably be the deluxe WFC Megatron as say a new version of Galvatron the tank would be a good upgrade to his cannon in g1
There is a repaint. It’s a Tokyo Toy show exclusive, it’s called darkside megatron. Comes with a WFC nemesis prime.
I like your galvatron idea though
The original Wheeljack because I heard that the mold on it broke not long after it was made.
My favorite animated characters were Bulkhead and Wasp
Some of these I would've bought repainted or remolded.
Siege impactor has been repainted into himself twice. I feel like he would make a great quake
they did make a quake from Hard head. it's his vehicle form that is off. But the robot mode when he transforms into quake is dear on. All we need now is a new needlenose, Landfill & quickmix.
@@kerry1979 true. But i really dont like the fact he is a headmaster. And his altmode is just not right for me
You should do a list of top ten transformers ruined by the live action movies! 🤣
Kingdom Cyclonus and Warpath, at least at the moment
i'd love the hell out of a new wingsaber or menasor. those are some cool ass figures
with the Omega Doom they could make him is Shattered Glass
Honestly that transformers prime rid energizer (voyager) ultra magnus is what I feel legacy bulkhead should be/become via Hasbro pulse
How about warrior class Thunderhoof? I think he qualifies and is a dang good figure
Huh, Prime Starscream. Yeah, kinda strange. Would have liked to see a new charakter from this mold. Dunno if I would have jumped on the Seeker train (or plane?) with this one.
Speaking of the Prime line - RID Cliffjumper and Rumble. Thrilling 30 Brainstrom was also never reused. And Beast Wars Insecticon (the basic one).
Was that the Voyager sized Brainstorm ?
@@TheActs2021 Correct. Would have loved to see it redone as IDW Pharma - saw a custom with this idea on TFW2005
I want THIS style of ultra Magnus in transformers legacy.
7:47 I already owned the Terrorsaur and Guiledart repaints but not Cruellock.
@@TheGrayMysterious That makes it clear , appreciate your response!
