@jonathandyck4689 There is a slippery slope in telling Hasbro that products should be locked behind a fundraiser for stuff they could produce normally. Unicorn made sense as an exception since he comes packaged in a box the size of a washing machine. Now I see way too many people say they want characters that should be in the mainline be crowdfunded instead. Don't complain if a popular character eventually shows up on HasLab because of that.

Hasbro: "You'll never get new figures of those characters because they didn't sell very well 22 years ago when the Transformers line was pretty much dead." Also Hasbro: "Our new Marvel and Star Wars lines are something were really proud of. People all over are rushing out for our versions of the top characters in their respective worlds and movies such as Captain Marvel, The Eternals, Wakanda Forever, Shang Chi, The Last Jedi, etc ."
So this may be a weird question. I know toy laws don’t allow for toys that look like real guns, but I’ve seen a few ads where real guns are starting to look like toys. Like bright pink or even hello kitty. I think I saw one made in the theme of Sally from nightmare before Christmas. How is that not also a problem?
It's easier to obtain a gun legally than it is for hasbro to make a toy gun. (Which I need to know why Nerf gets a pass but Megatron as a nerf gun specifically doesn't)
They could do RID Megs, but it would likely only have three modes. They won't. Don't think they will. But they did make the versions of Scourge, so maybe, and a redo of the Fire Convoy isn't gonna be because that thing was a mess to transform.
He just laid out why. The laws are even stricter than ever before. And anyone with a functioning set of eyes, ears, and ability to check the news around them can easily figure out why. And with the apparent increased focus in accuracy or homaging, any gun Megatron that's not metallic greyish is going to be met with whining of inaccuracy. It's a losing endeavor no matter the direction, and not worth all of the potential trouble they can get into just to sate the minority of adults whose nostalgia blinds them from what's going on in the world around them.
What they could do with Beast Machines Megs would be to make another mold of the dragon megs from Legacy, but with a battle suit cape and attachments to make him powered up into BW Megs.
10. There is a chance we might see these characters again, though they might be recolours of non-combiner characters. 09. As some have commented below, HasLab is probably the best approach. 08. This one’s pretty much a ‘box checked’, even if some weren’t happy with the execution. 07. If we get a new Prime Smokecreen, a ‘season three’ redeco might be the closest we get to that. 06. Possible HasLab project too. 05. They’d probably have to re-invent the transformation and deco for this one. 04. Yeah, I don’t know how this would work. 03. Hasbro could always go back on their word on this one. 02. At best, I see these two being done at core class. 01. Kind of cheat, since, like you said, it’s just the alt mode that can’t be redone.
@@Rabbitlord108 As a stand-alone size class, yes it appears to be gone. However, smaller-sized figures will still be packed with some of the larger toys, when they feel the need for it.
As another commenter said, it's not just his colors or an orange tip that keep us from getting a G1-accurate Megatron outside of Masterpiece, it's that different states have vary levels of strictness with their toy gun laws. It'd be too much of a logistical nightmare to get a G1 Megs made that turns into a gun and obeys both federal and state laws out to market, which is why Megatron is typically either a tank or some sort of alien vehicle these days, especially since unlike Masterpiece, mainline Transformers is ostensibly targeted at kids.
If hasbro were to do a G1 gun megatron he's has to be made in the modern day core class (price) size or as a target master. Like for example a SS86 core class "gun" megatron or SS86 target master megatron.
I have Rail Racer, so I'm completely okay with them never getting updated. However, if a third party decided to make them, I'd consider purchasing a second set Also TJ, the amount that Michael Bay said he would give out for finding the twins in DOTM was $25,000, but it's irrelevant because when people reported on forums that they had found the twins, Bay denied it, saying that it didn't count. Theorymus did an interesting video on this recently.
Hasbro also said we would *never* get a Devcon. i agree with some of these. but others i feel are just a matter of the right designer pitching the right thing at the right time.
I'm not sure if I agree with the obscurity argument on Magmatron compared to his contemporaries, he did actually come out in the west as one of the exclusive Dinobots during Beast Machines. Might fit into more of the territory they do with a Haslab but I wouldn't write him off entirely. I definitely see where you're coming from with a "proper" Beast Machine's Megatron. Unfortunately even 3rd parties tend to avoid this era like the plague, I would totally be in the market for an upgrade kit for the Transmetal 2 Leader that at least gives the harness for him, even if it wasn't 100% accurate to the show appearance.
Probably the main reason why they don't use the Alternators Smokescreen color scheme is because it is from an actual car, so they would need to pay licensing fees in order to use it.
I do think Bumper can come back. He just needs a new color to be his own like Bugbite has white for his for them to use with the Bumblebee molds. Maybe blue for Bumper.
Can I make a couple of suggestions? I'd really like to see a Here's 10 list of fiction only characters that deserve toys. Some of them would be easy, because they are virtual redecos, but some would be kind of hard. Another Here's 10 I would really like to see is a list of non-G1, non-Beast Wars reissues that we need. I'd love to see some RID stuff reissued. As for this list, I could see some of these characters getting new toys, but only in Japan. Like, Team Bullet Train. I can see Takara doing something with those. Although, them doing stuff independently is not as frequent as it used to be.
Don't tease me about a Botanica toy TJ. She is one of the only characters to appear on screen that hasn't had a toy. We got an honest to goodness Transmutate as a build a figure for crying out loud.
I could see them doing another Devastator where the individual vehicles don't have robot modes since they didn't in the movie anyway. That would make for a better combined mode overall.
Honestly, if I worked at Hasbro, I would've made sure Skids and Mudflap would make it in Studio Series. The way I look at it: Studio Series should always be live action movie designs only. They're the lawful good of the line. Even if the Gamer edition figures based on the WFC game generally look good, those are more like neutral. They look good, but they needed their own toyline, separated from the Studio Series name. And all the SS86 figures fall into Chaotic Evil, because prior to the first of those figures, Studio Series seemed to be the final bastion of the Transformers franchise that hadn't been contaminated by G1 nostalgia, providing some escapism from all the G1 stuff at the time, and as soon as they announced they wanted to branch off to G1 to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the 1986 movie, that bit of escapism was taken away from us. Hell, I'd even argue that some of the characters we got in SS86 had better figures in previous toy lines because slavish G1 cartoon accuracy is not always a good thing.
The legal situation around G1 Megatron is a bit more complicated than "not allowed in the US", but the effect is the same. Realistic toy guns are 100% legal on the federal level, provided they meet certain coloring standards (orange tip, transparent body, the like). The problem is that state laws are far more stringent, with some states having more extensive coloring standards, and some states outright banning them. So yeah, any gun Megatron would be unviable, and a screen-accurate gun Megatron would be nearly impossible.
I will wait as long as it takes for skids and mudflap to get studio series figures, so that way I can have them get what they should’ve deserved in the movie, a good old split in half from Megatron.
I vaugley remember during DotM filming, some on-set footage leaked of the Twins crashing and their cars being totaled. Still kinda disappointed we didn't see them scrapped on screen.
The best shot at a Gun Megatron we have is one that turns into something else but some sneaky designer sneaks in gun mode through fanmoding or something.
I honestly think he is the most likely figure, because he'd be an easy reuse of Bumblebee and Cliffjumper molds. And he'd get enough completionist fans wanting him a selects would work. If we got Hubcap, I don't think Bumper is out of the running.
I have to say that people are being babies. I loved that G1 Megatron I've always wanted one for myself. I'm 46 I will never treat it like a gun. Meaning I won't go into the streets and shoot people. I might use it as a prop in a play but that's it. I know that will never do something stupid
What if Magmatron remake as a toy figure. We'll should ask TakaraTomy and Hasbro ask for a request to make it one more time. Even I had toy of Magnaboss 3 in 1 combine warrior as toy. Unless G1 Quintessons to make a toy that would bizzaire.
perhaps for #10-8. 2 and 1, however, Hasbro has already put their foot down, and doing them just to sate the nostalgia of a minority of manchildren will not be worth ALL the trouble they'd be putting themselves in.
I’ve got an idea for this. Do a working Nerf gun crossover with G1 Megatron. I just want the experience of owning a Nerf version of his original mode. And I’m not talking about the classics version. G1 Megatron as a Nerf gun. The Nerf toy line already has a blaster that looks like Megatron‘s original mode. Just give it the ability to transform, and there you go.
That's never worked out. The mechanisms of a Nerf gun taking up SO much of the internals would compromise the transformation engineering, never mind the action figure functionality. At that point, it might as well JUST be that ROTB Optimus gimmick blaster. He'll certainly be a nice transforming gun Megatron, sure but he won't be fitting the whole collector's action figure angle that is their main bread and butter. And Collaborative hasn't exactly been doing well either anyway.
I kinda like Megatron getting new altmodes, tanks really seem to suit him, then there's his two different attack helicopter depictions in Animated and Earthspark that were pretty cool.
By extension, G1 Shockwave will also never get a gun mode toy either. The Siege version had to fake a submarine mode like TR Sixshot in order to be released.
I believe the Combiner Wars replacement characters have a chance to come back mainly because groups like the Protectibots benefit for having more unique aspects rather than jus be another Scramble Combiner. All that remains is Hasbro thinking a new Defensor is needed or not lol. Regarding RID01 Megs, I think there’s a chance of him being a Haslab mainly because he’s such a unique design that I can see Hasbro going “we really want to try this” and campaign it.
I could almost see Hastak making a new toy based on the unreleased Animated season 4 Marauder Megatron, and then pulling a Shadowstriker and saying it's Beast Machines universe because the head is based on BM, maybe mixing in some more beast machines influence along the way.
Mentioning RID Megatron/Gigatron and Magmatron, one of the things I think Takara did smarter than Hasbro was not constantly relying on Megatron to be the threat in every new iteration of their franchise.Magmatron and Gigatron were not only awesome designs but awesome names for new leaders/threats. TF in the west needs new variety. The endless cycle of Optimus and Megatron has become bland. I mean thats why they tried a mid franchise refresh in G1 with Rodimus and Galvatron. If they had gone about it in a better way, it may have worked.

Hasbro: "You'll never get new figures of those characters because they didn't sell very well 22 years ago when the Transformers line was pretty much dead."
Also Hasbro: "Our new Marvel and Star Wars lines are something were really proud of. People all over are rushing out for our versions of the top characters in their respective worlds and movies such as Captain Marvel, The Eternals, Wakanda Forever, Shang Chi, The Last Jedi, etc ."
To be fair Disney are breathing down their backs in the latter case.
I wonder if the recent Transmetal 2 Megatron might get an RID Megatron repaint
So this may be a weird question. I know toy laws don’t allow for toys that look like real guns, but I’ve seen a few ads where real guns are starting to look like toys. Like bright pink or even hello kitty. I think I saw one made in the theme of Sally from nightmare before Christmas. How is that not also a problem?
It's easier to obtain a gun legally than it is for hasbro to make a toy gun. (Which I need to know why Nerf gets a pass but Megatron as a nerf gun specifically doesn't)
For a second thought this was Transformers who's never had toys that will never get toys and remain in fiction.
They could do RID Megs, but it would likely only have three modes. They won't. Don't think they will. But they did make the versions of Scourge, so maybe, and a redo of the Fire Convoy isn't gonna be because that thing was a mess to transform.
Why can’t they just give G1 Megatrons gun mode an orange tip like an airsoft gun?
They could but much of the issue is the public reception of a toy gun in today's society. I'm surprised nerf stuck around honestly
They made magmatron my god
Honestly I think with rid Optimus and Magnus getting a haslab release rid Megatron could be next
What they could do with Beast Machines Megs would be to make another mold of the dragon megs from Legacy, but with a battle suit cape and attachments to make him powered up into BW Megs.
#5 aged badly and that was only a few weeks after this came out..,
Well that comment on Skids & Mudflap didn't age well because Core Class is DEAD!
@@Rabbitlord108 As a stand-alone size class, yes it appears to be gone. However, smaller-sized figures will still be packed with some of the larger toys, when they feel the need for it.
@@runescape228 Yeah. But what larger character would it make sense to package Core class toys for Skids and Mudflap with?
i feel like a g2 gun megatron could work due to his bright colors
Not with the modern laws
However, if a third party decided to make them, I'd consider purchasing a second set
Also TJ, the amount that Michael Bay said he would give out for finding the twins in DOTM was $25,000, but it's irrelevant because when people reported on forums that they had found the twins, Bay denied it, saying that it didn't count.
Also the Japanese-only Beast Wars sequels were also made to basically be filler until the later seasons of Beast Wars were localized.
I do think Bumper can come back. He just needs a new color to be his own like Bugbite has white for his for them to use with the Bumblebee molds. Maybe blue for Bumper.
TJ is just doing reverse psychology on Hasbro with this video.
I think railracer could easily be a haslab
It's a bit sad they won't do anything with team bullet train
Don't tease me about a Botanica toy TJ. She is one of the only characters to appear on screen that hasn't had a toy. We got an honest to goodness Transmutate as a build a figure for crying out loud.
I could see them doing another Devastator where the individual vehicles don't have robot modes since they didn't in the movie anyway. That would make for a better combined mode overall.
I'd argue we'll get a reduced RID Megatron. Triple changer at most. Like how we got Armada Megs without all the gimmicks.
That's exactly what happened to my original Skids toy as a kid. I was crushed because I loved them, but looking back I'm definitely over it lol
The best shot at a Gun Megatron we have is one that turns into something else but some sneaky designer sneaks in gun mode through fanmoding or something.
I want a new Bumper so damn bad!!
They need to make it happen at least as a Generation Selects or a Target exclusive.
6:00 cmon TJ you knew what you were doing writing that in the script 😂😂😂
Magmatron is being made
It might be the end of the road for the CW extras... But not the end of the offroad.
I could definitely see Magmatron being a haslab one day
I can add 4 more to the list, namely the Beast Wars Mutants - Icebird, Poison Bite, Razor Claw and Soundwave.
I know you're just gonna jinx it, watch next wave
perhaps for #10-8. 2 and 1, however, Hasbro has already put their foot down, and doing them just to sate the nostalgia of a minority of manchildren will not be worth ALL the trouble they'd be putting themselves in.
The Alternators Smokescreen is a shame, especially since a two pack with him and a repainted Sunstreaker as Dead End would be beautiful
23:00 I'm surprised they didn't think to make Megatron a gun emplacement to have a parallel to Prime's Trailer
Did you already do a list of ten bots you never thought we’d get?
And Collaborative hasn't exactly been doing well either anyway.
ill show you a loose floppy mess.....
That epyon looking megatron is crazy cool.
Didnt Cindersaur get a new figure in power of the primes?
Core class in potp and a recolored bw cyber key gimmick Megatron only 2 that come to mind
I feel like maybe in about a decade we could maybe end up getting a MPM Rotf Devastator but probably not anytime soon.
I kinda like Megatron getting new altmodes, tanks really seem to suit him, then there's his two different attack helicopter depictions in Animated and Earthspark that were pretty cool.
I saw a fanimation here on UA-cam where he turned into a stealth bomber, it was a pretty cool design.
@@nicholasfarrell5981 I know exactly what cartoon you're talking about and yes it was pretty awesome.
How r the twins racist
But Jazz gets a pass?
All the Bots are cultural appropriationists!
You think Optimus is white?
By extension, G1 Shockwave will also never get a gun mode toy either. The Siege version had to fake a submarine mode like TR Sixshot in order to be released.
Well. Looks like that Magmatron prediction was wrong
Some of these I can see happening. Just not through conventional means. Magmatron would be perfect for Haslab. Bumper would a gen selects.
That RID Megatron.
Be careful with that entry. We’ve already seen a glint of Sideburn.
Unless the “replacement crew“ makes up their own combiner.
