1992 League Cup match at Anfield that finished 4-4 between Liverpool and Chesterfield More details and photographs on the Sky is Blue History website: cfchistory.webs...
Some points to mention ... Liverpool won the League two years previous, the Kop had terracing up to the end of the 1993/94 season and those stripes on the Liverpool kit looked silly.
Andy Morris played like David Silva that night with his touch and passing, not bad for £500 and a bag of balls as the transfer fee. This match, the 3-3 Fa cup semi and the 5-2 drubbing of the yellow and blue in the play offs are surely the 3 greatest games Spireites have played in. We will rise again like the mighty Phoenix.⚽️
Nice one - PNE fan in peace. Great performance from Chesterfield and I remember the Morris/Norris combo well. How bad was Mark Wright in this game though?!!
I was a Chesterfield fan stood on the Kop that night. Thought I was hiding my town shirt well but at 3 up, the coat came off. 'pool fans were brilliant, never shaken so many hands in my life. Amazing night!
as Liverpool fan I remember this match so well, listened to it on the radio....Radio 2 in those days....this was an atrocious performance but a good recovery. What fans today might not appreciate is the Liverpool team weren't that bad....but that night they were!

Manjula Jayakody , yes, we’ve definitely suffered over the years. Thankfully, the current team are making our dreams come true.
CONGRATULATIONS CHESTERFIELD. I REMEMBER THIS GAME
Mark Wright was like a pub player in his early days at Liverpool. Brilliant later on
David James earning points towards his 'calamity' title.
What a fucking shambles we were
Went to this game it was amazing.
I was there! My Dad said to me and my brother we were idiots to go - we'd be done 6-0. 4 away goals - set up the return leg nicely....
To lose 1-4
