I don't have that one or someone at savage to get me one. I do have a 110 though and it will likely be an upcoming comparison. Good to see you whoteewho
So you compared a base model to a gen 2 model? Get the Savage axis 2 with the accu trigger and try again. Commenting to show support to the channel. Good video layout over all though.
@@phild9813 The Savage axis 2 pro and the 110 trail hunter are both 100 plus dollars cheaper than the Ruger American gen 2. I think that would be much more of an even fight than the cheapest rifle they make…in my opinion. That being said I don’t miss any of his videos…one of my favorite channels on UA-cam
I see what you’re saying. However, I think the video is extremely valuable, as I like comparisons that aren’t “fair” when they’re still close. I cross shop price brackets all the time when shopping. You have to see if the next step up in cost is really worth it or not. Either way, great review of each rifle in the video.
You can do a $6 trigger job on the Axis that makes it break at like 2# with zero over travel. Also eliminates any wiggle in the trigger. Makes a huge difference. I own the Savage in .308 (great deer rifle) and I'm planning to buy the Gen II Ruger in the predator model for longer range fun and hunting.
Picked up a Ruger American gen2 ranch, in 556, 16" barrel. (lazer beam) Smallest group so far .38" with hand loads. Shot a .40" 4 round group with 52g Black Hills match HPs. Awsome accuracy out of a $600 rifle.
UA-cam videos demonstrating accuracy at long distance with the Gen I set the bar high for Gen II expectations..Yet to see confirmation that Ruger has met expectations..
When you are buying bottom shelf rifles you can NOT use accuracy as a measure of worth. If you are hunting within 200 yards and your $400 rifle shoots 2MOA then you have a perfectly good hunting rifle. Function is more of a rubric than accuracy. Besides everybody out there talking about how they get a 0.5 MOA at the range (aka bench) are, in reality probably shooting 3 M0A in real life hunting situations.
Hahaha, both junk. I agree. I wouldn't waste my money on them. But neither would I waste my money on a custom rifle. Buy a Sako or Tikka and accept the days of quality American made rifles, cheap or expensive are over and they just keeps spiralling downward...
@@sabresix7933well someone has brand myopia. Sako? You might as well get a custom rifle. Tikka? Nope, are they accurate? Sure…as long as you are shooting a 3 shot group. Ordered a Ruger Gen 2 in 7 mm08, new rifle would not even chamber a round. I passed. Have a Savage axis in 30.06 and have had no issues. Put in a timney trigger on sale less than $100 and I have a great rifle
Savage 110 Trail hunter over both. Not interested in ruger gen 2, barrels are to short. And why buy savage axis when you can get the 110 action for $100-$150 more.
I have purchased several Savage 110 models and they all group under 1 MOA (I do reload) even my daughter’s 110 Apex Hunter XP. They are really good rifles.

I’ve sent my Ruger American Gen2 in 300 Blackout back for warranty issues twice now. It’s my only 300BLK rifle that keyholes rounds inside of 25 yards. Junk rifle. I’ve never had bad luck with a Savage rifle, ever.
Not apples to apples at all. Much more apples to oranges here. These type of reviews are very disappointing. Due to either a bias to one rifle manufacturer over another, or laziness on the reviewers part. Would have been a more honest review to compare the Ruger Gen II to the Savage 110 Trail Hunter.
lol people including you would probably complain no matter what... If i have two apples people would find something else to complain about. Also, its not like I get guns for free all the time where I can just be like hey lets get such and such a rifle to compare... If I say something negative about ruger ppl complain if I say something negative about savage ppl complain. If you can do better make your own video. Stop assuming things you don't understand.
@@Bullets4Bucks Relax. It's not a Savage vs. Ruger thing. They both make fine and very accurate rifles. It's a comparison issue. This is not a good "apples to apples" comparison at all. One is the latest version from a manufacturer. The other is not even close to the latest offering in this "class" of rifle. If that's lost on you.......well then ok.
I've got the Gen II in .308 as well. My groups with the Federal 168gr Gold Medal Match were touching. Norma Match 168gr was pretty good too. The Norma Whitetail 150gr was not bad either. I agree the magazine system pretty much sucks. Had to have the bolt open to get a full mag seated. I did find holding the release open while seating helped.
The Gen 2 went backwards IMO. Its not near as accurate as the Gen 1's. The Axis 2 will outshoot it but since youre compaing a $300 rifle to a $550 rifle it's misleading
was kinda disappointed that you didn't run the 2024 version of the axis stock that is just now coming into stores, you flashed it up on the screen several times. I was hoping to see a comparison on the rigidity of the fore end compared to the gen 2 RAR. otherwise, thanks for the review.

However, u got me to click, im sending it to a buddy as well, he will get a kick out of the "cOmPaRiSoN"😂
Ruger over Savage all day long! Like many.. my very first rifle was a Ruger 10/22.. bought it back in the early 80's and I still have it today.. and Ruger has never let me down - my first 22lr rifles were a Ruger 10/22 and a Remington 597.. and I grew up with competing with friends who had Savage 64's and Mossberg 702 Plinksters.. problematic jam-o-matics as I call them.. so I guess I have always been kinda partial and biased whenever it comes to the whole Ruger and Remington vs Savage and Mossberg argument. I have been down with Ruger my whole entire life. Here I am decades later still feeling the same way.. I love the original Ruger American, the Ruger American Predator, the Ruger American Ranch as well as the Ruger Precision Rifle (RPR) bolt action rifles.. not to mention a few of the Ruger Semi Auto's as well!
