Yannis was invited on stage by Nightwish to do "Sahara" with Floor after their US-tour in Prague (CZ). Unfortunately the filming started late as the audience was kind of buffled what they were about to watch. So just type "Yannis Floor Sahara" !
Tuomas' composition is so exceptionally strong.....even an untrained singer on a 40 dollar keyboard would sound reasonably okay with this great, great piece of art
I had forgotton that i sent this in, got surprised when i checked the latest videoes and saw his name. So glad you two enjoyed it and thanks for a good reaction video :)
(Waves to Mrs H) I think it's fun, and certainly impressive, but to be honest I'd rather listen to Yannis singing a Beast in Black song or Floor singing GLS with Nightwish. Wacken is my second-favourite performance (after the time I saw NW live, but the experience of being there gives it an unfair advantage). I was really sorry the sound wasn't good when I saw BiB, made it hard to hear him clearly. I was relieved they got it right for NW...
I think, the point of having the very feminine parts in there is that this cover is a showcase of his technical abilities and his flexibility, so not having it in there would actually take away something. I get that it's not everyone's taste, but it certainly is impressive and, as DH stated, it fits the opening very well.
I really enjoy his cover. It still gave me the chills that the Nightwish versions do. However, by him forcing himself so high to hit the notes, they lose the full-bodied feel that Floor has when she sings it. It is still a very good job of doing it though.
You should listen to the original version performed by Tarja. The rest is a poor imitation by comparison. Even Floor's performance, although she is a very good singer. ua-cam.com/video/kvdsmffCWnQ/v-deo.html
Respectfully, no. Mrs H is right about this. Harmonies were masking how weak this was. Use a male register man; add some roar. Imagine this cover by Robert Plant, Paul Rodgers, Freddy Mercury, Rob Halford, Ronnie James Dio, Joakim Broden, or Maynard, etc. THAT would be solid. Peace
In my opinion certain singers, bands, songs shouldn't be covered or attempted to be covered. Nightwish and floor is a prime example it just doesn't work. I wasn't impressed at all, just my opinion.
For most singers that would try to cover Floor's performance it would be a train wreck. This dude, however, can SANG. I, too, was very impressed.
👍
Good old Yannis, the first time I've listened Beast in Black I tought were two singers.

He hits the notes perfectly. He is an amazing singer. Pitch perfect. ❤❤❤ He use the original soundtrack.
Yes he’s amazing!!!
In case you're interested, Yannis provided the isolated vocale file in the description of the video. :)

Nice cover

The Sahara cover is better. Also, his other covers like Thundersteel or Kill the King are fire
Hi Mrs. Heretic.
Hello there!!!
I’ll give him plenty of credit for hitting the notes but I got zero emotion from the performance.

I heard them perform at some festival a couple of days ago and my ears started bleeding from his vocals. It was horrible. 😬
