This exact machine was my first computer ever back in 1986, I tried to use an external commodore disk drive but failed, I always used a cassette recorder to save programs.
Interesting idea. I guess using a Commodore drive would indeed have been feasible, given that both are basically serial "intelligent" devices. Still, a lot of low-level protocol stuff to implement. Thanks for sharing!

@@michaelwessel4953 I saw a video once on how to do this but involved building an interface due to the different voltages used by both machines.
