I cannot believe these guys weren't more popular in the states. They are still my favorite band going on 30 years. Miss you Gordie.

I used to feel this way. Then I realized most American’s have very low musical IQ. The lyrics are over their heads. The transitions lose them. The perfect blending of 2 guitars and a bass all playing different lines confuses them. They (we) prefer catchy, low rent music repeating the same 4-6 chords with catchy lyrics. Not to pick on Nickleback but they are about as much as American’s can handle.

They were very popular in the states believe me if you ever in buffalo ny area look up strictly hip bad go see them and you'll see best cover hip band I've seen that's y the thumbs down

@@ErieeyesThey had a niche following in certain northern border states but still did not enjoy anything close to the success they had in Canada. Dan Akroyd lobbied for them to be granted an appearance on Saturday Night Live in 1995 but despite putting their best foot forward and delivering a strong performance they still didn't get the boost of popularity they deserved. I have several American friends who had never heard of them before I mentioned their music to them.

What does it matter that they weren’t bigger in the states? They were great fucking band no matter who they played for

I beat cancer and i would have given anything to trade places with Gord. He still had so much more joy to give to the great nation i love.
    Bless you all.

No. You beat it and you have your purpose. Your purpose was not Gord's. Go on an prosper and inspire.

Agreed. These guys and this incredible front man always let it all out. Quality isn't always recognized. Canada was so fortunate and if I was Canadian I wouldn't want to share them. Let the rest of the world miss out.... we were presented with a great opportunity and we blew it

Unlike pop music, 200 years from now, people will analyse this band and its reflection of the late 20th early 21st Century psyche!

Still the best live band to listen to. Saskadelphia was an incredible release but Blonde Solid is still a gem that needs to be let out.

I was never as interested in seeing The Hip live once Gord started playing guitar onstage. Totally ruined his stage presence. Nice to see him put it down, though, for "Pistols".
