A used non-military Mi-8 costs over $10 million USD, so the 500k they paid the pilot seems like a fantastic deal. Don't forget it was a modernized version and was also full of spare parts for military aircraft.

Well the Mi-8 is mainly a supply helicopter but can be armed with missiles, rockets and machine guns or cannons, this one is just a supply helicopter it appears and basing off the back story the dude was a captain cause pilots are typically officers so definitely not a conscript, he joined with intent to serve and betrayed his comrades
@@sturmi9783 Helicopter pilots are enlisted officers while the crew is probably lower enlisted on conscripts, there is typically 1-2+ crew.
Also, It depends on the variant of mi-8. AS cargo aircraft aren't combat aircraft nor do you want on to be. The mi-8 that do have Rockets at At-4s are troop transport on a different squadron apart from cargo.
That makes it even sadder, Flat Out, WAR SUCKS & So does Pure Unadulterated Ignorance!!!!

It said they panicked and ran. As soon as a soldier refuses to surrender and run, you pretty much have to shoot them or you place your own life in danger or the lives of your comrades if they escape and rejoin their battallions.
