Totally agree on not writing whole conversations in romaji, it really slows things down having to decipher phonetics to Japanese. Best use all English or all Japanese, that way you can use a translator program like DeepL or Line translate to do the translating, you can't do that with romaji.

Regarding the first point, I do notice when Japanese people upload photos/videos, they'll typically blur out people not meant to be in the video and it's something I really appreciate.

Your tips are noted and appreciated Mairi-san. To be honest, I know only 3 kanji characters(they're so hard to remember and write) but i can read hiragana which gives me some small hope of survival in Japan(i still have to learn katakana though). JE-san's japanese is fluent and easy to understand even with no subtitles at all. One thing i always loved about Japanese people is their honesty. These rules you mentioned are no problem for me at all, since i'm a low-profile and always play by the rules man. If i ever visit your country i'd sure come by your shop to say hi. いつもありがとうございます😊❤

If I wasn't Japanese I don't think I could write a single kanji, so you are amazing ❣️it’s interesting that JE’s Japanese is easy to understand!!How about my Japanese?hahaha thank you for your comments ❤

I recommend English speakers learn katakana before hiragana or kanji, because with katakana you can pretty easily read many useful words like バス (basu - bus) タクシー (takushii - taxi) トイレ (toire - toilet) without having memorized any Japanese words. You should understand these English borrowed words instantly!

thanks for the tips miley, indeed many of us already knew about the mask issue in japan and its fun to see some japanese idols not wearing masks in europe but when they go back to japan and theyre all masked up again LOL
its like they just follow the rest, deep inside they wanna be free.
anyways some of us will have to wait until we see like 75% of people maskless on the japanese streets (YT clips) to travel to japan.
youre so sweet and beautiful as always. thanks

Wouldn't all the store signs in English that we tend to see in Tokyo (as JE has often shown us) leave unsuspecting tourists with the impression that you might be able to get away with using English everywhere you go there, which isn't really true? Of course, those signs would be helpful for me as someone who can't read or speak Japanese (yet)---but if I were to visit Japan I'd definitely need an interpreter until I could carry a good-enough conversation on my own.

I'm more concerned about other issues though...

I'm so glad you don't wear a mask outside! That means you're intelligent and a free spirit! (I'm not surprised!)
I have only been asked to wear a mask two times. (In one case, my family and I were the only customers!) I left the store instead of wearing a mask. The store became empty, and I simply won't go back to that store. The second time, while the cashier rang up my order, a manager asked me, 「マスクは・・・」 I said, 「いいです。」 (He didn't know how to respond to that! Heh heh!)
My family and I never wear a mask outside, but my wife puts on a mask in the store because of peer pressure. She is Japanese, after all. But sometimes, she doesn't even in the store. (It makes me happy!)
Many stores have signs that ask you to wear a mask, but it's okay to ignore the signs. Nobody will give you a hard time about it. (By now, most people realize that everything is fine, and only wear a mask because they see everybody else doing it.) Now that the fear propaganda has slowed down a little, more people are walking outside without a mask. Let's hope Japan becomes like other countries and stops pretending that everyone is sick!
The "being quiet on the train" is important. My wife even scolds me when I yawn too loud on the train! (Maybe it's bad manners, but I can't help it when I am tired!)
