    Hey there Mezzmo, just wanted to say I wildly appreciate your work and your video updates on the 650. Earlier this year I bought my first bike, an XJ750RJ, didn't know anything about bikes, part availability, what the thing was actually worth, you know, all the nooby mistakes one could make, i made. I ended up paying about twice what the bike was worth and felt the harsh reality of my own ignorance. Flash forward 5 months of scratching my head and learning the ins-and-outs, I just wanted to thank you for the time and effort you have put into uploading your progress. As i'm sure you know, that manual is okay at best, and having someone walk you through how to restore a bike is invaluable. Thanks again mate!!

      Hi Mate, thanks for the kind words. I love working out in the shed and creating things and really don't mind sharing what I do. I find it interesting how many people avoid sharing details, at the end of the day if I can motivate people to get creative then its a good thing....

    Gday, that’s a bloody awesome setup on the handle bars, extremely neat and doesn’t look out of place at all, I have no idea what all the gadgets add up to be but if your doing a build to keep then the cost in my opinion doesn’t really come into play, do it once and do it right and to what you want, then all that’s left is to enjoy to mate, take care, Matty

      Thanks Matty, this bike is one I plan to keep so I've gone all in and not worried about the costs given I'm doing everything myself. Motogadget stuff is very expensive, just need to be sure not to drop the bike as that would be bad....

      Why the need of a control unit if you made custom butons ? Why not use lockable butons instead of momentary butons ?

    Epic vid as always! I have a few questions bro. So is it true that m-unit is all in one and you don’t need the flasher cancelling unit or any relays? I just noticed on my new build my 81 xj653 mighnight maxim is missing the cancelling unit and I don’t know how hard it’s gonna be to locate one here in Canada. Also do you know of any good reliable sites to get good parts for the xj? And last but not least do you know anything that is like the m-unit but cheeped? It’s like 600$ here in Canada

    • @Mezzmoengineering
      @Mezzmoengineering  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Ziggy. The M unit is all in one and has no relays. I haven't gone for the first ride yet but I'm almost certain the blinker cancelling is programmable based on distance or time. Motogadget stuff is expensive everywhere I think, I'm not aware of cheaper equivalents. Its probably why they charge like they do because they seem to have a product worth paying for...I'm not aware of any one stop XJ parts shop, for me I just did lots of research and purchased either from Yamaha direct, EBay or other private sellers. In a lot of cases I had to purchase from overseas at a high cost...

      Mezzmo Engineering dude I really appreciate you always getting back to and always soooo fast! So it turns out I didn’t understand what a cancellation unit was until I got the Haynes manual in the mail and determined that the unit is just an auto shut off safety feature that shuts them off after distance or time depending on the speed and I also found out I actually have the unit it is my clutch switch that is missing and that’s no big deal cause I know to make sure I’m in neutral before start. The problem I’m having is the guy who turned it into a bobber took the tail light and blinkers off and just wrapped the wires up. So I got them all back and hooked up to my new lights and they don’t blink just stay solid and the break light just stays on? Doesn’t come on when I hit the breaks... any suggestions bro? Thanks in advance

      @@Dakovidkilla I'd say its one of the following. Either the flasher relay is faulty or a globe is out. Also check the bulb's are the right wattage. Otherwise when a globe fails or is too small it doesn't have enough load to get the flasher relay to function. If its staying on then the wiring is good, just a relay or bulb. The brake light wiring might be faulty or a faulty brake light switch. Check the switch is adjusted properly.

      Mezzmo Engineering thanks again bro you are a beauty! I’m gonna look at the watts tonight after work. I think I’m gonna do a complete tear down of the wiring and start this bike from scratch! You have inspired me!

      Just use lockable on off butons instead of momentary butons, no need for a stupid m-unit ..

    why don't they just use latching lockable on/off butons ? No need for an overpriced m unit ...

    • @Mezzmoengineering
      @Mezzmoengineering  2 роки тому

      Hi mate, depends what you want. I went for the m unit because it has an alarm, option for rfid instead of key, an app to track your rides etc. it is expensive and for sure, not for everyone. There are other ways if you just want to keep it basic.
