I decided to start my own religion where we worship our favorite composers and Broadway shows. There was a lot of chatter when this came out during Obama about how he affected a lyric change. They changed "We need a good assassination" to "You need to push the next edition." We knew this was all about Obama's people meddling where they did not belong. In this case it was the head of Disney Theatrical productions, Thomas Schumacher, telling them to change it because of his support of Obama. He also gave Hlyliar and the Klinton Klan Korporation a boatload of money. Its really horrible when politics leaks into Broadway but on the other hand, Broadway has always been highly hypocritical in its support of Democratic politics. But Democrats are also dumb bunk stupid for thinking that the kids singing about wanting an assassination would apply to today's time when it was an early 1900 period production. But Thomas Schumacher knew that Democrats would hear assassination and think Obama. So he changed it to pushing the next edition, which was the safe thing to do.
I love how they suddenly turn all respectful as soon as the nuns show up. Say what you will about them and their manners, but they CAN be respectful when needed. They don't like it, but it IS possible.

I think that he was saying "it aint news no more" cause crooked politicians are so common now. Its quite sad really
Actually, I think Elmer said that. Or at least is was when I saw it.
Hufflepuff Tulane Snipeshooter said it in the movie. Elmer said it in the broadway version
This is too painfully true
God, this song was perfect. Seeing it on stage was amazing with their dance moves and all. I couldn't even blink.
Don't take the name of the Lord in vain. Exodus 20:7
Am I the only one who shouts “That’s my cigar” everywhere just hoping that someone answers?

I love how they suddenly turn all respectful as soon as the nuns show up. Say what you will about them and their manners, but they CAN be respectful when needed. They don't like it, but it IS possible.
I am doing a Newises camp and this is one of the songs we are doing!

Hey!
That's my cigar!
[Albert:]
You'll steal another!

Hey, look! it's bath time at the zoo
[Henry:]
I thought that I'd surprise my mother
[Albert:]
If you can find her
[Newsies:]
Who asked you?!
[Race:]
From bottle alley to the harbor
There's easy pickings guaranteed
[Finch:]
Try any banker, bum, or barber
They almost all knows how to read
[Jack:]
It's a crooked game we're playin'
One we'll never lose
Long as suckers don't mind payin'
Just to get bad news
[Newsies:]
Ain't it a fine life!
Carrying the banner through it all
A mighty fine life!
Carrying the banner tough and tall
When the bell rings
We goes where we wishes
We's as free as fishes
Sure beats washing dishes
What a fine life
Carrying the banner home-free all!
[Finch:]
Hey, crutchie, what's your leg say, gonna rain?
[Crutchie:]
Uh, no rain...
Ho-ho, partly cloudy clear by evenin'
[Race:]
Ha! and the limp sells fifty papes a week, all by itself!
[Crutchie:]
I don't need the limp to sell papes
I got personality
It takes a smile that spreads like butter
The kind that turns a lady's head
[Race:]
It takes an orphan with a stutter
[Finch:]
Who's also blind
[Albert:]
And mute
[Elmer:]
And dead!
[Crutchie, Buttons, Jo-Jo:]
Summer stinks and winters freezing
When you works outdoors
[Jack, Tommy Boy, Crutchie, Buttons, Jo-Jo:]
Start out sweatin
End up sneezin'
In between it pours!
[Newsies:]
Still it's a fine life
Carrying the banner with me chums
A bunch of big shots
Tossin' out a freebie to the bums
[Finch:]
Hey! what's the hold up?
Waiting makes me antsy
I likes livin' chancey
[Newsies:]
Harlem to delancey
What a fine life!

[Jack:]
If I hate the headline
I'll make up a headline
[Jack and Crutchie:]

I have listened to this in a while
I got to meet these boys, and my mom said "they were the sweetest boys on broadway". My friend and I saw Adam Kaplan on in Times Square and we ran up to him and he hung up the phone to take a picture with us and give us some encouragement.
3:11 My favorite part, idk why.. The sound/harmony of it just stuck out to me.
We watched both movie and broadway for our analysis class work and I have to say it’s underrated asf. Catchy music, impressive dance, etc

My school is doing this play, I’m in the pit, and lemme tell you it is chaotic.
This is the best Newsies song probably because my dance director taught me and my cast and dance to the song
ORH MUR GURSH I love it so much! Newsies gives me so many chills!!!!
Ok every time Crutchie has his part it makes me smile
I guess it doesn’t take a smile that spreads like buttah then.
Maybe it is just his poisinality.
In my opinion, this is the best song in Newsies. SO GOOD! It's been stuck in my head all day. :)
My town's local high school drama team is doing this play and it's awesome to watch and to be a part of!!!
only started listening to this today but it's so good!!
I met my best friend while doing this musical and I couldn't imagine my life without him
why exactly did they cut the 'mother' counter-melody after the nuns' trio ('patrick, darling')? in the original, that was always my favourite, so haunting and beautiful.
What mother? I don't remember oof
@@lemonzestu It was from the movie. When Race is singing, in the movie it was actually a woman looking for her son. It was hauntingly beautiful, and one of my fav parts about the movie, cause she killed it.
