This song is Autechre's best in my opinion, a true slow burn, once you find it, it's hypnotizing - you might like their early ambient stuff better as an entry point
Agreed.
this track is a real beauty i can't relate to how you're not feeling it. for me it's full of emotion. hey that;s music i guess.
I have been into autechre since about 1996. Everything from 1992-1998 is very strong. Then after that you pick and choose tracks.
If you dont like idm beats then you may not like most autechre. But if u like this , this is a fairly good example of their 1996-2000 period. Most peoples favorite style from them in 1993-96.
If you like warmer try Casino vs Japan, Bola and maybe even AFX. BoC is the obvious choice but everyone recommends them.
Loscil, arovane, Proem, Lackluster, gimmik, loess, gridlock, Phoenecia are others if you want to go down this idm rabbit hole.
This one is kinda difficult for an AE newbie, I disliked the beats at first as well but I promise upon repeated listens this song with transform into one of the most beautiful beats you've ever heard. It's cold and melancholic.
"Sounds like it would be in the score for a Darren Aronofsky film"
Funny you say that..
They do have a track on the soundtrack for his film Pi (Kalpol Intro.)
I've not watched your video yet but i remember first hearing LP5 and especially "Rae". It was a sign that things were developing within Autechre but i was really blown away by the whole album. "Rae" remains one of my favourite tracks by them. It's just beautiful! The slow-down especially!
Will watch your thoughts now
A ducking masterpiece! ... autechre has to be experienced live... the perfect mix of children's song and bribe paper... IDM in your face
Autechre, Boards of Canada, BrothomStates, Magnetophone - those bands were so innovative in 90-00s!
You'll find the warmth in IDM once you get to Boards of Canada!
@@aboutthisproduct7674that’s such a stupid comment
Dude, if you like AFX ambient stuff, check out Autechre's VLetrmx, it's one of the most beautiful ambient songs ever
thanks for letting me know a track from my loved and warm Autechre that i never knew!!!
You should react to Gantz Graf next
Try Boards of Canada! They ARE warm. And subtle. And pretty deep sometimes. Also, 'Eutow' by Autechre is exquisite.
Autechre is an interesting choice.
I particularly like everything on the Amber and Incunabula albums. Great chill vibe.
I very much recommend going down the 'Boards of Canada' rabbit hole. Everything they do is superb, there is no wrong choice.
Thanks! I will be doing all 4 BoC albums sometime down the road.
@@AlexHaitz Aphex Twin too?
@@justaguy1451 I don't have them listed out but I'm open to doing 3 or 4 of 'em in the future.
Oh we're on to the IDM phase? Oh this will be a trip
Autechre is a bit too "advanced" and nuanced for a first time listener so Boards of Canada might be a better introduction.
I started with Aphex Twin and then Boarda of Canada, but I'm not sure if I'm into this nearly as much upon first listen. I didn't like every Aphex Twin album on first listen either though, so I'm sure it will grow on me.
In some way this track reminds me of Depeche Mode 'BLASPHOMOUS RUMOURS'. Radiohead Kid A (2000) was influenced by albums like LP5 (1998) by Autechre.
For me, you don't get the track, I am sorry
Really glad you managed to get something out of this one, even though I know you weren't head over heels or anything.
It's really hard picking a track from these guys, since they've had so many distinct shifts in style over the years, so I went with one that I felt balanced their harsh and soft well.
Hearing the development of their sound from the debut up to now is an absolute trip, and if these guys ever click for you, going on that trip will be one of the best musical experiences of your life.
You need to listen to bola soup. Perhaps some monolake. Autechre are a religion in my book , not for the casual listener.
Ambient? IDM beats? Aphex? Glitch! My head is spinning! What will they come up with next?
On another note: can anybody suggest a way to filter out all these moronic "reacting videos" from UA-cam?
If you liked this i highly recommend The Collapse EP by Aphex Twin. Much more interesting and intricate. This song also reminds an electronic band from the 90s called 808 state. Also more interesting and melodic than this. Check out their track "Pacific State(radio mix)".
@noise2signal I know, but I think it's a great song and I also like some other work by them very much, regardles how their music is categorized. Miles away from Autechre? Not in terms of quality in my opinion but it's ultimately a subjective matter.
Pretty easy entrance into ae
c😱
Autechre are amazing but I hate this album
For me it's my favorite album
I don't know, for me it is a transitional stuff from Ae. From Amber to more abstract stuff. Cool album.
I love this track but the album has its weak moints like arch carrier
@@ihaveagoddamnplanarthurI definitely wouldn’t call arch carrier a weak point
