Late 1990s. I'm about 8 y.o. and watching "Some like it hot" for the first time on TV. Cold winter night, Siberia, small town in the middle of nowhere. 90s were terrible in Russia, crimes all over our little place and the whole country (paradox, it rhymes with the beginning of the American film about the 30s). I can't describe the amount of happiness I got that night. This film is what a STORY should mean, timeless classic. Adored in Soviet Union and Russia till these days. Probably my favorite Hollywood film. And Mr. Lemmon made this movie legendary. Rest in piece, Sir, your Genius is eternal.
Jack Lemon my favorite Hollywood actor of all time. I could watch The Apt.every single day and never grow tired of Jack's CC Baxter character. Best movie ever. I love all his work. He has left a great legacy on film. Wonderful actor and wonderful human being.
Wished I had seen all of his films I'll have to put it on my to do list to Simply watch each and every one because I learned from his films and I love the intensity and conviction with which he plays each r o l e remember liking a movie that he did called tribute which was a great film also have to agree so far from what I've seen so far the apartment is one of my favorites
I had such a crush on Jack Lemmon when I was a girl. I still love him. He was so funny in The Odd Couple and so sad in The Days of Wine and Roses. The interviewer was alright but I wish he hadn’t rushed Jack and bustled him on to the next thing when Jack wasn’t finished answering. Jack was very accommodating and gracious. What a gentleman.
I've always loved him now even after this interview I can see why I had this affinity for him. There's true redeeming value hard worker with high aspirations and Inspirations he just touches my heart. Jack Lemmon is if there was a list of who is one of the best oh, he definitely comes to mind
How lovely it is to hear an intelligent conversation, sans cursing. These were times when people automatically held themselves to reach a higher plane. He was a true and charitable person. He never took himself too seriously. One young writer, whose name I don't remember, was invited to a cocktail party. It was full of bigwigs, and crowded. He knew no one and vice-a-versa. Then the famous Jack Lemmon came over to him and spoke with this young man at length. That is the definition of "class." RIP, Jack.
When he died, It just happened that Jerry was in Chicago, We both started crying. TCM played Some like it Hot, The Apartment and Days of Wine and Roses. We were crying and laughing, choked down a few tears. I don't think I have cried that hard in my life!
Thanks for this lovely interview! It confirms what an intelligent, elegant and charming man was behind such a tremendous actor. Jack Lemmon could excel in comedy as well as in drama movies!
what an amazing actor and a wonderful human being he was. loved so many of his movies especially The Apartment and Some Like it Hot. Can never forget him. xxxxx
He was such a wonderful actor. He could bring you to tears and also be a delightful comic actor. I still can have tears come to my eyes when I remember him ( and Lee Remick who was amazing) in the Days of Wine and Roses.
So many wonderful comments here! I even don't know what to add - agree with all, he's incredible actor and gentlemen!!! I watching all his movie and interview...I can watch it forever!!! Just love!💖💖💖💖💖
thank you for posting this Jack Lemon was one great actor he had an honesty about him What was the movie he played golf ⛳ Will Smith I think was in it ?? great actor
I love him, imagine having a husband like Lemon ♥️ It's funny, when I was young I didn't notice him but now I look up everything he has done and interviews etc...
To hear him talk about being an alcohol an the pain I his eyes when he admitted that Mae me almost cry. What a lovely man.Glenngary Glenn Ross was his swan song. Amazing.....
Jack Lemmon's son Chris looks just like him. I don't know how Jack and Walter Matthau were able to keep a straight face with each other. I don't think they're able to in heaven now.
Thanks for posting this comprehensive interview. Jack Lemmon is one of the best actors of all time, IMO. I've re-watching his movies on DVD, most recently "Save the Tiger." What a talented thespian -- one who could do drama as well as comedy.
Save the Tiger is one of the few movies I had to walk out of because I was so overcome by Jack Lemons portrayal of the characters nervous breakdown It was so real that that I couldn’t take it he was a wonderful actor and touched your heart
Never be another actor like him. I think he is one of Hollywood's gem. Tom Hanks is today's Jack in the way he acts and is a an all out good actor and nice decent guy IMHO anyways.
One of my all time favourites because no matter how many times I see it, I laugh like it's the first time. Hilarious...love it. Under the yum yum tree is funny little gem too.
Anyone know who the Interviewer is? He's very TV-centric, and was really making Lemmon work very hard in this interview. Jack Lemmon was the sweetest guy in the business, ever! Loved him in The Great Race, among all his other work.
Impossible to encapsulate jack's career in a couple of hours I guess being TV focused it takes away from his stage and movie career which is where he made his most major contribution
@@fullbodiedmovie Probably was Michael Parkinson who, if you've never seen him on UK or OZ TV asks good questions and listens to the answers. His programmes are always about the guest and not him. His interview with Walter Matthau and George Burns together is well worth a viewing...
The interviewer was a real doofus. Didn't even know that Lemmon won the Supporting Oscar for Mister Roberts. His insistence on moving to more obscure early projects leaves out Lemmon's most strenuous, and important time, as an actor. I know this is supposed to be about his TV experience, but he needed to spend more time on Lemmon's career AFTER early TV. Talking about how his MOVIE experience was based on how he learned from TV, might have made for a much better 2 hours.
It is inconceivable that this interviewer talked to Lemmon for an hour and a half without once mentioning his most famous roles, in The Apartment and in Some Like it Hot, or asking Lemmon about his experiences working with Tony Curtis, Marilyn Monroe, Shirley MacLaine, et al. Or about the making of those two iconic films. Inexcusable lapse and a loss for us all, not to have his memories on the making of those two classics.

The greatest actor of the American movie industry. He could do comedy and drama like no other. Things like "The odd couple" and "Missing".
+Chelle Marr It's a long list of great Jack Lemmon movies! I also like "Cowboy". en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cowboy_(1958_film)
I would liked to have heard how Jack came up with the “fmah!” sinus-clearing yell in the restaurant scene, of the Odd Couple.
