Great video! We love our Mach E! It has 300 miles total charge (California Route 1) so we are able to really get about and not concern ourselves with having to only go small trips. and we've put 6,000 miles on it.
Reducing rolling resistance means a given battery size (weight, cost) provides more range, which is the primary metric most people consider for electric cars.
Sarah, normally, with 1-pedal driving mode, the braking lights are managed by an accelerometer and not just when you release the pedal. Therefore, the flashing would not occur. If I remember well, the regulation requires the braking lights to turn on with a 0,12G deceleration. Obviously, the lights also turn on if you press the brake pedal. On electric cars, a very light pressure on the brake pedal often activates the regeneration and thus, some deceleration without having to activate the friction brakes. Have a nice day.
My 2014 BMW i3 lit the brake lights too because it was hardcoded to do one-petal driving. It probably saved me a few rear-end collisions since the thing slowed so fast.

They should have used the name Maverick for this car instead of the new pickups, since those were available in four door sedan models. A Mustang has never had 4 doors.

It seems like to me that young marketers do not care about a brand's heritage anymore (for the most part). Another example of this is the Acura NSX that was originally a light-weight, low-tech, inexpensive, driver-connected sports car that morphed into a very high-tech, very expensive, disconnected one. Another is the just released Acura Integra which is basically what this generation of Honda Civic should have been but it no Integra. One new example of honoring a model's heritage done right is the upcoming Nissan Z. Sadly, I think the marketers what do what they did with the Mach-E and the Acuras do so just because they know people are passionate for brand and think that giving a car that name will instantly earn it fans and sales. It's really sad.
Ford already had a Probe model in 97....it didn't fair well in the market...nor was it really stylish or sporty...of course Ford reused the Maverick name for a truck....it was actually a car in the 70s
Having the brake lights go on when the car is slowing down sharply via regeneration is not weird at all. It's totally necessary. You are going to get rear ended a lot if your car is too stealthy about the fact it is rapidly decelerating. And if you are on/off the go pedal enough to make the brake lights flash, your passengers, if any, are going to feel like bobble-head dash ornaments. Drive an EV with strong regen for a while, and your foot/brain will soon learn to modulate the pedal so that you are driving smoothly. It gets to be as natural as skillfully engaging a clutch. Muscle memory takes care of the details, and you don't have to think about it at all.
Very interesting EV. It looks okay, I guess. BUT, a total deal breaker for me is that fugly giant pad-like screen in the middle of the dash. Why not incorporate it more pleasantly into the dash? It just looks like a complete afterthought stuck on with velcro or tape. Also, all that extra mass of the giant brakes and wheels from a real Mustang is totally counterintuitive to the whole EV concept (light, efficient, etc.). This vehicle is trying to portray too many identities and that's a recipe for failing at each of them rather than being superior at one focused design effort. And don't even get me started on the naming of this thing. I own a Mustang GT and that car is and always was about the whole experience (the sound, the looks, the driving experience). Ford, lose the horse emblems and call it the Mach-E. Great review! Thanks.
@@erorufurakku6378 Ford's made other horse logos for other models before, like Pintos and some old Rangers and possibly Rancheros, though I'm not sure on that one. And I agree that the name doesn't fit but I kinda like the Mustangey styling on em.
@@jaredf6205 A lot of people don't like all these moves of sticking legacy namesfor well-loved cars on crossovers, as if that makes crossovers somehow more what fans of say a Mustang or Integra or Eclipse or something want. I get the sense that the yard would be full of removed plastic panels before any metal parts could be accessed and serviced. Great review, Sarah. Love your style!
No. There are only 4 plastic covers underneath. But if any untrained person were to try and work on it. That would property die. Considering there is about 700 volts DC running through that car
Cant wait till you get a f150 lighting to review If you combined your wind turbine idea, where instead of a tow behind it was built into the grill of the e car, and placed anywhere else they could like those vents up front for the a/c, and replaced that voyer roof with solar panels, you wouldn't get a charge from it that would top you off, but you would get more range, might not be much, but on one of these, every little bit counts. And solar panels could actually give you a decent amount when its parked outside all day. Again not a full charge, but if it could add even 20% over the course of a day, that is less time you have to charge at night, and less money that costs you in your electric bill.
I was saying that same thing with solar panels when I seen the f150 lightning announcement. I thought the truck bed would of been perfect to put/test the solar panel idea. Had pretty much this talk at my old job.
I wonder of these EV's will be throw away vehicles when they are eight to ten years old & the batteries need replacing? This from someone that has a thirteen year old Mercedes & a twenty one year old BMW MC in the garage. Both self maintained & still run like new.

there's a coolant system in EVs too, the active shudders aren't JUST for AC. The glass roof doesn't have a slidy because of the reason you have a glass roof: the floor is all batteries so you sit up higher, but you want the car to have as small a frontal area as possible (thus shorter is better) for aerodynamic efficiency. Thus the reason so many EVs have glass roofs is to have more interior space, as metal roofs & padding are thicker.
The current models no longer come with frunk dividers; that was in place until Ford worked out some compliance things relating to the frunk. Also, the frunk has a drain plug, so you can fill it with ice for frunkgating, or store wet stuff (after a beach trip, say) and easily hose it out afterwards. Also, the brake lights don't illuminate immediately in one-pedal mode, I believe, but only as the car approaches a full stop.

Ford already had a Probe model in 97....it didn't fair well in the market...nor was it really stylish or sporty...of course Ford reused the Maverick name for a truck....it was actually a car in the 70s
@@techhead1363 by that logic Ford already has a Mustang...
The final year of the Probe was 1997, if memory serves me it was basically just a rebadged Mazda.
@@Shakerhood69 the Mazda Mx-6 I think
Agree the Probe name would’ve worked here. The Probe was supposed to be a Mustang replacement, but enthusiasts weren’t having it.
Very entertaining and informative video; thank you! I love your windmill-on-a-trailer idea for giving extra energy for a BEV in remote areas! 🙂
I always enjoy the unrestrained bolstering test. I slow it down for that part, several times, to get the FULL effects. Thanks.
I ordered a mach-e 75 kWh rWd last weekend. With a Technology pack plus. Shadow black. Delivery will be april. Can’t wait
You're almost halfway to one million subs!!!
Or almost 10% of the way to 5 million subs!!!
Thanks.
Agree. It looks like a prototype with a Kindle tablet Gorilla Glued to the dash and they never got around to finishing it.
Sarah had me at " Multi Link Rear Suspension" and her pronunciation of Aluminum . What a intelligent and Beautiful Woman.
I understand and appreciate Sarah's opinion/review more than any other reviewer on those webs.
I'm giving Sarah five penguins for this great review! I am surprised at the low beans score, though.
In my mind they should have just called it the Mach-E and then if absolutely needed they could have added: 'Inspired by the Mustang'
@@erorufurakku6378 I'm a fan of clean lines so 'nothing' would work for me. Otherwise maybe a stamped in 'Mach-E'
@@erorufurakku6378 Ford's made other horse logos for other models before, like Pintos and some old Rangers and possibly Rancheros, though I'm not sure on that one. And I agree that the name doesn't fit but I kinda like the Mustangey styling on em.
It’s weird that people care.
@@jaredf6205 They cry at night knowing their ICE Mustang will get beat by the Mach E.
@@jaredf6205 A lot of people don't like all these moves of sticking legacy namesfor well-loved cars on crossovers, as if that makes crossovers somehow more what fans of say a Mustang or Integra or Eclipse or something want. (It also kind of implies that there *won't* be, or that they'll soon get rid of, say, the coupes or sporty hatches they're interested in. )
Love this channel, love her. Awesome personality and sense of humor.

I want an engine sound that sounds like the Star Trek TNG Enterprise, kind of that background low roar 😁
And when on full throttle, the sound of the warp drive engaging? I'd like that as well.
I feel I need to say it: My favourite part is "Garage Science” with Sarah. Thanks.
Digging the electric vehicle reviews. Great content
Great review! I had been looking at them but like most I’ll wait and see how they develop. Also, great since of humor by the way.
1:30 Stupid fast for about 6 seconds, after which it cuts you down into Ecoboost Mustang mode.
Cant wait till you get a f150 lighting to review
If you combined your wind turbine idea, where instead of a tow behind it was built into the grill of the e car, and placed anywhere else they could like those vents up front for the a/c, and replaced that voyer roof with solar panels, you wouldn't get a charge from it that would top you off, but you would get more range, might not be much, but on one of these, every little bit counts.
I've been dying for you to review the mustach-e! Yessss!
Bolster test satisfactory :D
I appreciated you making the Jetson's sound effect.
Great now I gotta search for your Porsche and VW EV videos. I can't wait till you get your hands on a Tesla. Any Tesla.
@10:55 , yeah, I'm glad you did that (big Jetson's fan here). Thank you!
I wonder of these EV's will be throw away vehicles when they are eight to ten years old & the batteries need replacing? This from someone that has a thirteen year old Mercedes & a twenty one year old BMW MC in the garage. Both self maintained & still run like new.
The answer is no.
I cant wait for a EMP.. Its going to be so awesome.
Damn brown leather mini, cutie little heals, lord help us. Oh the Mach E was nice too. Love you Sarah! Keep up the great work.
Yes, that’s a five-penguin skirt!
The Jetson sound was phenomenal. Love your reviews
Missed opportunity to bring back the Probe brand.
I'm a girl - I don't know 90% of all the big car words Sarah uses but I find them super hot anyway. Just found her channel and love it. Such a fresh review - informative and original and useful. Just subscribed.
Another great auto review! Absolutely smashed it just like I did the “Like” button as always! I’m with you on the Mustang name... I don’t even like seeing the Mustang emblem on it! It reminds me of the 1976 Mustang II era! That said This Mach E has me intrigued and I loved your review! Excellent work Sarah. Thank you!!
Yup, Probe or Fairlane would have been a better name for it than mocking the Mustang moniker.
there's a coolant system in EVs too, the active shudders aren't JUST for AC.
You truly look gorgeous today Greetings from Norway
The current models no longer come with frunk dividers; that was in place until Ford worked out some compliance things relating to the frunk. Also, the frunk has a drain plug, so you can fill it with ice for frunkgating, or store wet stuff (after a beach trip, say) and easily hose it out afterwards. Also, the brake lights don't illuminate immediately in one-pedal mode, I believe, but only as the car approaches a full stop.
4,278 Newton Meters = 3155+ lb ft of torque. Since the conversion didn’t make it in. :)
This review gets 8/5 Penguins! It gets three extra Penguins because you are dead on (IMHO) with the name, no kink shaming here, and plenty of puns!
Sarah you make it difficult you concentrate on the vehicle. You a baddie. Enjoyed the video, keep up the great work
Thanks for the thorough review. I don't think I'd be interested in an EV that gets less than 300 miles on a full charge.
My new Tesla Mdl3 LR at 85% indicates 311. But of course real world varies
Will never consider EV
It’s just an inferior product and mind numbing lay boring..

11:02 😂 amazing vocals, your the best
I do wish they hadn't called it a Mustang. When internal combustion engines become a thing of the past, so should the Mustang badge as it represents more than just a name.
Same feeling here, people will be complaining why Ford is not electrifying the Mustang 🤣
They could have called it a Pinto for all I care lol
Easy fix could be some custom emblems . Maybe a Ford front logo and Mach-E rear logo. I also think someone can make a honeycomb grill stencil to be painted on. It will help that boring front end. Overall I really like it. I drove a Tesla Model 3 rwd yesterday and the instant torque is absolutely insane to me. So fun and addicting.
But you'd still have that fucking horse on the steering wheel to look at all the time 🤢 and the stupid "unbridled' driving mode. Need a way to get rid of those.
the 2022 mach e's come with new design front ends.
