I don’t have the same experience unfortunately. I think the watches are very hit and miss. You got a hitter and I got a misser. Gutted about it as its stunning to look at. Just doesn’t jeep time
@@moboei I’m not an expert in this but I do believe you could regulate it. Probably not worth to have it done by a watchmaker but with basic tools, you can give it a go.
@@9feetfrog you’re correct. You can. Yesterday i put the watch under my loep and I saw the balance wasn’t sitting properly (therefore stopping and starting). Took it out and reseated it, yesterday it seemed to be running fine again. Fingers crossed

I have seen them for £150 on Aliexpress. Still I have it and love it. My fourth Sea-gull. I have the Flying wheel, the Ocean Star and the Chinese Military watch as well. They are all excellent.
Agree. Anyway, take a look at the 38mm baby panda version. This one has the air force logo instead of the Red Star. Less than 300 USD. This is much cooler than the 3 eyes mickey mouse.
Don't get the obsession for big watches, 38 is big enough for at least 98% of wrists, even 35mm is "big enough", this is a fashion thing. Happy to see that more and more people are walking away from the huge watches that in my opinion looks weird, a bit like too big shoes.
I own two of these. A 40mm Chrono Heritage M1963/X - SEA-GULL ST1901 bought directly from Sugess Watch in China and a 40mm limited edition Red Star bronze Seagull 1963 that came from the official Seagull 1963 store in Belgium. The Seagull is a watch that is hard to fault and I‘m quite fond of both of mine but my customer experience with both companies was hardly satisfactory. In sum I was swindled twice. The Sugess was supposed to come with the Swan Neck movement but didn‘t and unfortunately too much time had elapsed before I found out for me to be able to do anything about it. As for the Belgian Seagull 1963, it was only after I had received it that I found out that they do not individually number their limited edition watches (instead all 300 are numbered 1/300) and that it was missing it‘s tag, manual and registration QR code. It was also shipped about two months past it‘s preassigned shipping date. The company in Belgium casually dismissed my concerns and when I asked to return it they informed me that the 14 day return policy had expired. Be very careful who you buy from. The Seagull 1963 company in Belgium seems rotten to the core. I wouldn’t deal with them again if they paid me. BEWARE.
I'm just gonna say this....I have been collecting watches over 40mm for years. Fro Rolex to Seiko and everything in between. My Rolex Explorer 39 feels big to me now. I love the classic 38.. watch, preferably thin as can be. I used to like the bigger piece of metal on my wrist but I see now that understated is so much better IMHO. of course this is just my opinion but I do see the whole watch world returning to the 40mm as the sweet spot and having recently turned in my skx007 for the smaller 0013 I wondered why I ever needed or felt it necessary to wear such large pieces of horological costume jewellery on my wrist. I'm well and truly over it.

I think that's an awesome size! Definitely takes getting used to, but it is a nice feeling to wear a watch that just disappears on your wrist weight-wise. Worth having just to play around with I think

I just got my 38mm seagull 1963, The watch runs very well it came with a little peice paper showing what it tested on a timing machine -0.8s/d, 246deg amplitude, 21600 bph. that impressed me......until I tried the chronograph every time I press the pusher to start the chronograph the center sweep seconds hand backs up a few seconds before 12/60 and then when it advances it the minute chronograph hand jumps ahead 1 minute because of the seconds hand backing up, this happens about 8/9 times out 10 or the pusher fails to engage the chronograph at all, and if your lucky and hold your tounge just wright the Damn thing accidently functions as intended, I have contacted the seller and asked to exchange it for a properly working one, I am still waiting for a response other than "it's normal and it will work it self out" or stupid helpful tips like "You wind all way up?" yes they asked that!, I really do like the watch, I much rather exchange it for a proper working watch than to return it, I also may just keep it and see if I can resolve the problem, Since I been working on watches for a lot of years, BUYER BE WARE!!!
I got one of these but since found that apparently single line script on front and/or sapphire crystal means it's not seagull manufacture 😟 although it might have seagull movement. Not sure if this is correct but seems it may be so.
the one with display case back with red writing is the official remake made by Tianjin Watch Company who own Seagull brand BUT it doesn't have seagull brand stamped anywhere on the watch or on the packaging. The one on this video is branded SEAGULL as you can see mark on the crown (sea gull logo) is not the official remake although some says it has better quality control. Official remake comes with either solid back case with red writing or display back case with red writing and ONLY come with acrylic domed crystal and ONLY comes in 38mm case. The official version has writing on the dial that says in Chinese letters "CHINA" on top and "TIANJIN WATCH COMPANY" underneath it.
Love the watch but literally hate long sticking out lugs on ANY smaller watch. It makes nooooo sense and just looks not well proportioned. Wished they made the lugs smaller
I bought three of these for my employees. Seagull 1963. Run the chronometer function otherwise the watch will run slow. I’ll say it again - if you run the watch without the Chronograph function, the watch will not keep accurate time. It will run slow. I mean really slow. Like a half hour slow per day
@@mikeingeorgia1 I think that’s a good assumption. Of course, this was an ingenious movement for its era, yet a primitive movement compared to modern technology. I imagine the most important Functionality at the time it was designed was the effective functioning of the chronograph since that was its sole purpose. Hence, it kept the best time when the chronograph was in operation.
I've got an 8 inch wrist and I rock 38mm diameter watches. If I want something with a little more wrist presence I will put on one of my 42mm - 44mm watches.

It is really good in all of those aspects for the price. The smothness of winding is not really there. I wouldn't recommend to buy a seagull because the movement is a pain to service. A service could easily cost more than the watch itself...

Terrible quality control: the second hand for the chronograph lines up perfectly at the 12 position and the two sub dial hands align too. Seiko fans will be put off big time by these horrendous faults.
some issues, the gold numerals is very very chinese! absolutely hate it. The spring bar is placed very far from the case. Which is fine with a nato. But when you change our the crappy nato for a leather strap you will see a massive gap where you can see your wrist through the gap.
Yeah, exactly! Should have a plain steel back case. This is not an official Seagull watch, althougt it certainly have the proper seagull mechanism. This "homage" is available from 150$ on many chinese web sellers. A genuine Seagull would cost around 300. I would love to compare both side by side and see which small differences both versions have.
It’s a Red Star with a Seagull ST19 movement. There are numerous versions produced by different makers including Sea-Gull. Saying it’s not genuine is incorrect.

If it has sapphire glass it's not genuine. The genuine SeaGull 1963 only comes with acrylic.

Poljot is not a column wheel chronograph. It's cam operated.
